Chapter 29 Meeting

An alarm went off making James's smile die away and stand up in alarm, eye wide and unbelieving. He rushed out of the room followed by Travis and Mike who were no different from James.

"What's going on?" Jenny who was confused and concerned by their behaviour grabbed onto Mike's arm before he exited the room.

"It's nothing. We'll be back." He smiled at her as assurance and dashed out. Jenny was confused but didn't pester for anything more and got down with her long lost protectors to catch up.

"I don't understand, how did he turn out like this?" Mike asked as he watched James inject the unconscious Jason who they had moved to his room some drug.

"I really can't tell but he'll be fine soon." James spoke as he dabbed a cotton pad on his arm. Then he went on to check on his injury and carry out out the necessary tests.

"But he hasn't been in this state for years, it isn't possible that it's going to relapse." Mike couldn't help but continue to worry. His Captain had been through so much and although he wasn't the very healthy type, he never passed out. Atleast, he wouldn't let himself get to the point of helplessness.

"That couldn't be the case. Anyway, instead of making assumptions, let's await the test results and see a way forward but as of now, let's let him rest." James spoke as he collected all the samples he had acquired from Jason.

"Jenny wanted to know. Should I tell her?" Mike inquired.

"She doesn't need to know Mike..... yes, we acknowledge her as our sister in law but that's not our place to step in and blubber his issues to her. He'll do it when he feels it necessary." Travis spoke as he looked annoyed at his brother's stupidity.

"Let's get out and leave him rest." James tapped on their shoulders to get out.

Emma scanned the room for any bugs or voice and video recorders then went to sit with Jenny and Jerry after he was sure none of those were in the room.Liam had excused himself and left not wanting to be the third wheeler.

Settling in a seat near Jenny, Emma intertwined his fingers and leaned forward in a gossiping manner. "So little bunny, mind sharing how you got yourself entangled with these young men?!"

"They saved me when I was shot....." Jenny started only to be interrupted by Jerry who shot up on hearing she had been shot. She gave him an anry glare and looked back at Emma.

"What?! Who shot you?!" Jerry was also flastered and he needed to know. He was going to handle who ever it was personally.

"Your very familiar with them if my memory serves me right." Jenny spoke lazily, completely uninterested.

"Those bastards!!" Jerry gritted his teeth in anger. He was visibly shaking from restraining himself from dashing out from the place to go shed some blood.

"Did you tell them anything about yourself?" Emma went back to the point. He needed to know about his possible future allies because for the time he has breathed, he never heard a word about them. There was no soul from the underworld business he didn't know or their allies and subordinates.

"Nothing, but they managed to know I'm no ordinary girl." she spoke with a pout.

"Do you know anything about them?" Jerry was the one to ask this time. When Emma was captured, he had assured him he'll be fine but it took him hours to get to him and that so be sure these guys had personally come to pick him and bring him here.

"Well, for James and Liam, their bio data wasn't that hard for me to acquire but for the other three guys, iceberg, and the twins, I believe they are from some kind of government organisation." Jenny spoke as she tried to recall any useful information on the three men.

Jerry had his brow perked up when he heard Jenny's nickname of the cold guy who almost killed him with his glare earlier. "You like him!" He teased as small smile started to curl on his pale pink lips.

"What?!" Jenny was sue to have heard wrongly. How can she like tha iceberg. He's so unlikeable!!!!! Hmmmm!!!!!

"You like that iceberg, right?!" Jerry wiggled his brows at her.

"What?! no, I don't like him!" She was so flustered that her voice rose a notch higher. "He's such an attention seeker and he never smiles." It's so frustrating!

"So you have your eyes on him?" Jerry continued tainting her.

"Jerry!!!!" she screeched as she sprung from her seat to choke him.

"You want him to smile for you right? You want him to notice you, right?" He managed to dodge in time and his taunts continued. Running about in the room to avoid her evil claws, he laughed.

"Stop it..... Emma, look, Jerry is teasing me!!" 'I swear to the heaven, pray that I don't lay a hand on you!!!' She whined with a pout as she pointed her finger at Jerry who laughed amused at her behaviour.

"We are your big brothers Jenny....if you like him, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. You can share!" Emma who was still in his seat spoke to her comfortingly. He had to coax her to speak.

"Emma, not you too!!!" Now Jenny wanted to cry

"You like him?" He insisted and saw Jenny's face turn redder than before.

"A little....." she spoke in a small voice and hid her face in her palms groaning at herself. She liked him alot! Like damn too much but she didn't have anyone to talk to about it and seek some help on what to do. "He just doesn't notice me at all, he keeps ignoring me and I don't like it." She looked up at the two men in the room frowning. "Why can't he be like you two?!"

"You are just blind Jenny!!" Jerry exclaimed with a duh look. I mean, it was obvious that the guy had his eyes on her and had marked her his unless one was blind not to see that and Jenny was surely blind.

"Fine, enough of him, where have you guys been? Where are the others? Did they survive too?!" Jenny found a way to evade the boy talk.

"Slow down bunny...."

"I'm sorry, I really need to know." her jolly mood earlier died away, replaced by a ghostly face of her haunted past.

"Only eight of us survived, two can never get back to any mission and only help at the base back." Emma spoke with all seriousness.

"Did you go to meet Grandma?" Jenny inquired.

"No we didn't. Reason, there must be a traitor from Granny's side and they managed to give out your location while we were trying to get you out of that place." Jerry spoke as he again took his seat.

"I don't understand, why do those people so want me dead? I've tried to remember but Grandma forbid me from over exerting myself as it only worsens my condition. I'm really afraid that one day I'll come across my enemy and never know they are one." She sniffed. "I hate this dread feeling that keeps sucking me into a very dark void.

I was so afraid and felt bad for having implicated hundreds of lives. Many people died protecting me and I don't even remember what they were protecting me from!" She cried. "I never wanted any of these Emma. I just want to be a normal girl and live my life but why is it so hard? Is it so much to ask for that single thing!!?" she bellowed out and Emma came closer and hugged her tightly.

He had been protecting her since he was just nine years and she was but a mischievous toodler crawling in diapers all around the mansion. She was their princess and they were her knights in shinning armour who later became her big brothers. Everything was fine and alright untill that day they were called in for emergency by their master who didn't say much to them but only commanded them to protect her with their lives

"Jenny we are working our best to get rid of the threat, don't worry, ok?"

"I really want to Emma but the blood and nightmares keep coming back every time I try to sleep. I feel haunted, watched and plotted against every time I'm out in the open." Jenny continued to share her worries.

"We are sorry you have to go through this." Jerry patted her back coaxing.

"Don't be." she managed to speak through her sobs.

"We are Jenny!" Jerry looked her in the eyes and felt bad seeing her red and swollen eyes. "Give us some more time." he requested pleadingly.

"How are you going to go about it...I mean, your only left eight and if what you said is true then....the traitor that's among my Grandma's force will act the moment he learns your still alive. Do we have any other help?" Jenny knew crying solved nothing hence use gathered herself together to be a strong willed woman she was brought up to be.

Jerry smiled. "You got us formidable allies Jenny." She replied with a huh which made the two men laugh. "These young men are no easy men, though we can't really connect their influence, the fact that they managed to remain untraceable is a point I'm going to give them. We are going to collaborate with them and see how far wide can their aid take us." Jerry spoke

"Iceberg seems to be fond of you!" Emma teased.

"They consider me their sister....I'm happy that they didn't shuu me away! I needed the company!" She laughed nervously.
