The True Face of Spencer's School (1)

The pile of papers were vanishing at an outstanding rate, and if Tumunomi Escaver did not have a single goal on his mind he would have been awestruck but he would also not have hidden it.

But just when he was about to speak out in obvious relief when the stacks of paper were finally down to the last one, she dumped another pile to a corner of the table and his scowl deepened in response.

Jacob regarded Tumunomi Escaver and was trying to understand his obsession. John was whispering to Ivan about how girls had finally started talking to him and Andrew was chuckling to Jake about how he had stuffed his piece of cake into a classmate before avoiding them for about an hour. Peter was nervous and his hands were tightly clenched

Tumunomi Escaver was scratching his palms with his fingernails until he was unconscious of it. At some point, it looked as if he wanted to start a fight with Mrs. Rose Marilyn. His eyes held nothing but her image as if she were the only thing that existed in his universe.

When they were done he saw that a time piece read '10:30' in digital numbers.

"Whew," she adjusted her hair lole she had just finished a jogging exercise. "You guys are a lot." Her hands then flickered as if they were blurs, given them an impression like she were an octopus and the room sounded as if it was acoustic. Like no sound could come in or leak out. Peter almost jumped as he had never been to their former meetings. In fact, coming dow with them today was after he had been convinced by Jacob about it.

Tumunoni Escaver would have noticed it if he was not so bent on doing what he had been told that they should have been doing by now.

"My leads."

She laughed and stood up, before announcing on a mic she brought off one of the table compartments that it was time for lights out and that all students should already be sleeping or immediately trying to.

"Goodnight and sweet dreams from our beloved owner and my Esteemed self, Mrs. Rose Marilyn."

Outside of Tumunomi Escaver and Jacob, the kids in her room were confused until she told them she was not obviously referring to them too. She then sat on the flat of her desk and rested on her arms that supported her weight, personally and slowly regarding them individually.

She first glanced at John, thinking that he was the 2nd softest person present and doubted he would be able to make it though.

At all.

Ivan passing was more of a 30-70 if Johns was a 10-90. He never really stood out to her.

Jake might pass. A solid 40-60; while the entrance exam was not exactly including death or anything, it might be quite intimidating.

Andrew, the same as John.

Jacob thought 50-50. He had this calm confidence and felt more mature than the rest.

Tumunomi Escaver, however, had a 60-40. He had a strong will. He would last.

Maybe.

Peter had a solid 0 chance. That is, if John was 0.5 then Peter was 0.0005.

She did not have high hopes for them, to be honest. But they had consented to wanting a part of what she proposed.

So, she eventually gave them IdentificationPapers, a Potent Artefact that would ask for their identification parameters on the form of a written lists, boxes to check, and would finally then take a drop of their blood before replicating a passport photograph from the DNA taken.

Mrs Rose Marilyn watched their eyes and Jacob kept his calm as Tumunomi Escaver, she suspected honestly, would miss a few details or 2 because of his anxiety to get it all over with.

The process did not take long. Not too long.

They had handed their IdentificationPapers to her when they were done and she took them before walking into the hallway with the orphans in tow. After going out, they reached the reception hall

The lady at the front desk stood to her feet and saluted yo Mrs Marilyn who noded.

"Get the transport ready for shipment."

The Secretary understood without another word and went back to rapping the surface of her desk as if it held some code which raised the brows of some of the orphans.

When she returned to them, she took them to a specific area of the building. Mrs Rose Marilyn next reached a wall that they all passed and she wore a glove before tapping a combination on the wall that flickering a number, alphabet, punctuation or sign in a specific pattern.

The wall slid apart without rumbling the rest of the building and the woman walked them all into a space that reminded them of an elevator.

John had his mouth open, Jake was tapping Jacob's shoulder like he was not looking at the same thing, Andrew was as excited as john, Jacob smiled, Peter's rapidly darting eyes were between awestruck or scared and Tumunomi Escaver was wondering when he would be given leads on Derek.

The woman gestured for them to follow her and she pressed a button with 'UG1' after everyone was in.

They fell with a drop that made some of them latch unto each other as they felt themselves going down.

Even their suitcases which were bedsheets and worn boxes they had found about the Orphanage was being squeezed tight in their nervousness. And not long after, the doors opened up to show them a scene of countless people with lab coats tapping devices and talking on as they walked about.

Each one of hese people paused what they were doing to bow their heads to Mrs Rose Marilyn before continuing on.

The walls were a dark color with green lines scattered about them. The floor, made of a continuous sheet of marble barely reflected the ceiling that had lights on almost every panel. Like the lines that lit up to a steady pulse, the ground flashed a wave of white also.

The rooms in this place had glass that did not show what was happening inside but instead blocked sight. The air smelt like it could not have been cleaner and apart from the people in lab coats who kept their voices to a minimum, it was gravely silent, save the noises from Potent Artefacts or machines.

"This way," the entire group walked away from the elevator and reached a door. In it was a big open space and she led them to another door at the very end. Taking that door, she pointed to the ground.

"You'll be here for tonight. We will formally begin in the morning."

The space was just like their room upstairs but was immaculately clean, black marbled floor like outside with green lines that pulsed like a heartbeat.

Tumunomi Escaver snapped his head towards her. "Now, where are my lea-"

"You agreed to my methods. So, wait."

Tumunomi Escaver felt like he had never stared at her before as her sudden glare caught him off guard. He instinctively backed up into the wall until he dropped to his butt and although he was also scowling on the outward, his heart was beating fast.

Mrs. Rose Marilyn rolled her shoulders, "you are work."

She then made it a point to look back and regard each one of them with piercing stares with cold eyes before suddenly turning to leave.

They were left with questions as she shut the door and when it locked, hn asked in a shaky voice.

"Can we go back, now?"

Tumunomi Esaver ignored any questions directed to him. As he literally dismissed them all. Everything was faded out to his senses and at some point, he saw that they began arguing about something.

All except Jacob, who was mostly silent except then he stood up before they all fell silent.

By the time he sat back down Tumunomi Escaver had turned his back against to them and decided to get answers by tomorrow with a deep scowl on his face.

Forcing himself to sleep he had no dreams that night.
