Chapter 20 Perusing His Purchases and Welcome Back

In the room, the uniform itself felt like a cardboard made into a protective jumper suit. It felt so light he would have doubted it if he had not dilled himself with enough random knowledge to know that everything was not what it seemed to be.

The terrain here resembled a plain with hills, bountiful sand and generous swathes of randomly located grass. Some closer to the ceiling than others and few trees. The 10 meter tall trees were still 10 meters away from the ceiling. Not only carrots were about the terrain, the water from the walls made the sprinkle of water for the other inhabitants of this room to come out and roam.

He then looked to the cages beside the door and against the wall. In 100 5-meter long cages were different types of herbivores. The rabbits were different in number. The first one had 50 of them and he walked to the front of one of the young herbivores' cages and opened it up.

They all happily bounced around before he left that room.

Then he went to the one besides.

This one was full of cries and noise. Chirping noises hung thickly in the air like a fog that blocked a person from seeing their own fingers from hungry mouths and nests.

This place had trees, rocks, plants with fruit and industrial fans that were strategically placed all about the space, hanging, hidden or standing.

This place required the most of his attention, so he carried one of the hundred boxes beside the wall closest ot he door and reached in for earth worms. And after serving all the cages, he left.

The first room on the right, he visited next.

Here the flowers were beautiful and the greenery bountiful. The trees came in different colors and apart from the chicks here too chirping for food there was also an area that had a pool. Because of the constraints the pool was dug in reality for about 12 feet but the AreaModifier magnified that number at least 100 times. Still, he had no need for that now and fed his Hummingbirds here.

He exited this room still not acknowledging Finim Barboach that now had black lines on his face from the blatant disregard.

Tumunomi Escaver walked into the lsst room and stared at 100 x 100 x 100 meters of space (length, breath and height) before feeling satisfied. He then peeked his head outside the door and waved for Finim Barboach to come in. And when the older man did, he asked him a question.

"The majority of them were 20 contribution points each which amounted to 150 of them for 3000. Their feed each was either 1000 or a bit less, for each room."

"Then, for the SpaceModifiers and AudioDampeners, those were…"

Tumunomi Escaver was shooting off plans in hus head about how things were going to be. So, the guy's speech was almost like bgm or bgn.

He turned around on the spot so that he finished his train of thought.

"What is left?"

The man has been cut short but he acted as though a cough has timely interrupted his speech.

"About 3,000 left. Give or take."

"Good enough, now I might need to prep myself."

Finim Barboach flinched when he got the boy's meaning, then he wanted to excuse himself but Tumunomi Escaver spoke again.

"Could you help with my things please?"

Finim Barboach stiffly nodded to that.

John had woken up as early as Tumunomi Escaver had from his chip implant. But where the latter had woken up to a familiar room, this one was not. John saw mobile curtains everywhere he turned and he had to allow his memories to return to him before he could begin panicking.

His body buckled and then returned still and at that point, someone with a lab coat came to him.

"What is happening?"

He found his body to be in surrounded by machine parts as thought it was being held together, gingerly by them. The person with the labcoat shine light into his 3yes one after the other before wheeling his bed out of the place.

"Where am i?'

By the time they had wheeled down the corridor and approached another door, another one had met up with this one.

"What is happening? Tell me."

He could not understand why he could not move and every time he did, it was like being burned all over.

The latest new comer set the bed to not roll and attached a drip sachet to his hand through an injection connected to a tube.

One more person walked into the room, and John vaguely remembered then.

"Hello… John… tough fighter like you."

"What's going on?"

"You probably have a lot of questions."

"Where's Peter, Jake, Andrew," he tried to turn his head but pain jolted through him like a viscous baptism. He gritted his teeth but still had to ask, "Jacob, Tumunomi Escaver."

"Most of them made it." The man took a look around his body. "Funny how you worry about other people now."

"Most, what do you mean most?"

"There was another… I forget his name? Ivan? I think. Either that one is worse than you." The guy clicked his tongue. "And worse than you is bad…. Very bad. Oh, Peter… Yeah…"

John stopped his normal pace of breathing. "How bad?"

"Well, we need to replace your entire body. So, if Ivan is worse than you then he is most likely…. Disposable bad. Peter is potentially is Hopeless as he has hope. But I love the show you guys put on. It was really spect-"

Everything else faded.

Wait, he was getting a new body?

Jacob had found martial arts that suited Andrew and Jake. He was most impressed with Jake though, the guy seemed to be thrilled. Excited even about his new possibilities. But there was that dark look he shot at Jacob from time to time.

However, such was life and he did not even expect a thank you. It was something they would get used to at some point

Now, he was curious about Tumunomi Escaver. That boy might have figured something out. Things might get interesting. There were also some other people from the other batches.

Did he himself need to practice? It might make it difficult for Tumunomi Escaver. But he himself never slacked off though.

He apologised to Derek's friend, in his mind, before beginning his own workout.

A day to the start of the next phase, Tumunomi Escaver had returned just as Andrew and Jake were about to leave. In fact, they had held Jacob to make sure he would not resist. But the boy never planned to resist in the first place.

"I'm coming. I'm coming. Geez."

"Better be."

"Yeah bro".

Jacob rolled his eyes as the doors opened up. "Just in time." He needed the focus of the room to change.

Tumunomi Escaver took in the situation and went to shower. It was when Jake came close that he was hit by a hell wreaking stench.

When he fell to his back Andrew ran to his side only to follow soon. But Jacob saw the trend so he avoided that area until Tumunomi Escaver went to shower.

When Tumunomi Escaver came out he saw all of them frowning at him and he glared right back at them in confusion before heading for the door, but Jake blocked his way with his body.

"Why should you not get knocked out right now?"

"John has woken up," Jake said it and paused.

"Oh, okay." He tried moving further again but was obstructed once more.

"And Ivan could die."

"Don't forget Peter."

Tumunomi Escaver grimaced and Jake thought it was out of sadness at first but he realised that the other boy seemed to be trying to make a hard decision.

Jacob's hand on his shoulder and Andrew arm around the other made him sound reluctant. "Okay, let's go."
