'My Son...'

"Son, it's not that mom is being a killjoy, but I don't want you to spend money without care."

"That's right, Son. Just because you have money now, you should spend it immediately."

"You have to remember to always save money. So that when you need it, you have some for you to use."

Feeling the care from his parents' words, Jay felt warm in his heart.

However, he still firmly said, "Mom, Dad, you don't have to worry about money or anything. I'm budgeting my spending thoroughly."

"So, just like I said, just choose whatever you want."

"Later, we will also go shopping. I will show you just how capable this son of yours has become now!"

Jay knocked his chest with a smile on his face.

Hearing that, the two parents could only drop the topic despite their worries.

Soon, the family finally picked what they wanted to eat and Jay called back to the attendant.

Coming closer, the attendant said, "Are you ready to order, sir?"

Nodding, Jay said, "Yes, we want this, this and that, and this."

The attendant wrote all their orders on the paper.

"Will that be all?"

"Yes, please."

"Okay, sir."

The attendant left to process their orders and the family of four started chatting among themselves.

Their topics varied from what they did yesterday to news of people living near their house.

Time passed as they were talking and soon the food was served to them.

Bowls and plates full of various different dishes were placed on the table neatly.

Each one is for sharing, meaning, there's really big servings for it.

Lastly, a plate of serving rice were placed.

"Here are all of your orders, Ma'am and Sirs."

"If you need anything else, please call me, I will just be there."

After the waiters excused themselves, the family looked at all the food on their table.

"Wow, we really ordered a lot!"

Jean exclaimed, her eyes all on the food as drool almost came out of her mouth.

Jay's parents on the other hand look worried.

"Can we finish all these?"

"I feel like it'll be such a waste if we don't."

Seeing his family react differently, Jay smiled.

"Mom, Dad, don't worry. Have you forgotten? I'm a pretty good eater!"

Remembering Jay's appetite, his mom and dad let go of their worries.

Feeling hungry, Jean was about to dig in on the food but her mother suddenly slapped her hands.

Pak!

"Aw! Why are you slapping me, Mom?"

"Calm down yourself. We will pray first before we eat."

Hearing that, Jean could only bow her head obediently.

"Lord God, thank you for the food that you brought to us today. Please bless our food for it to give us strength on this day."

"Amen."

After a short prayer, they finally started eating.

The table was pretty quiet with only the sound of the utensils and the plates hitting could be heard from time to time.

Some short conversations were also exchanged in between, but overall, it was a great moment.

Just like that, the four of them slowly ate all the food on the table, leaving none.

Maybe it's because of the changes that happened to his body a while ago, but Jay's appetite was pretty good and it was him who ate almost half of the food.

If calculated per serving, Jay probably ate about more than 20 servings on his own!

Even his parents looked at Jay with shock after he finished his 10th serving.

But in the end, after making sure that Jay is not hurting himself, they stopped paying attention.

The lunch lasted for roughly an hour before they finished.

Mostly Jay.

Walking out of the restaurant, Jay patted his stomach.

"Ahh~ I'm so full."

"Of course you are! You ate a humongous amount of food, after all." Jean commented.

Ignoring her, Jay turned his attention to his parents.

"Mom, Dad, is there anywhere you want to go?"

Shaking her head, his mom said, "No, it's all up to you, Son."

Jay shifted his eyes to his father and saw that he had the same thought.

"Okay. Then let's go to the appliance area. There's some things that I actually want to check out."

With Jay on the lead, the family headed inside the appliance section.

Large smart TV, automatic washing machine, door-in-door refrigerator, air conditioner, stove, and other high priced appliances entered the sight of the four.

Jean looked excitedly at all of those and whispered near Jay,

"Brother, are you going to buy something here?"

"Well, if there's anything here that you want me to buy, tell me. Then I'll think about it."

"Really?!"

Jay nodded and Jean immediately started going around curiously.

In places like this, anyone would feel excited just taking a look.

Especially people who didn't have it before.

That is because they know just how much these appliances can make their life better.

Even Jay's parents, they might look calm as they look around, but the shining light in their eyes is evident to their desire.

It's just that they are older now and know that things like this are not something they could afford.

Just like when Jay's mother looked at an automatic washing machine with longing but once she saw the price, she reluctantly walked away from it.

Noticing that, Jay immediately walked up to her.

"Do you like that, Mom?"

His mother looked at him, shook her head and smiled,

"No, I don't need that. I'm still pretty strong, you know."

She puffed up her chest and stood up straight momentarily.

Laughing at his mother's antics, Jay said, "I know you're strong, Mom."

"Anyway, I've been thinking about buying an automatic washing machine for a while now. This one looks quite good, I think I'll go and buy it."

Without waiting for his mother to say anything, Jay called the nearest salesman.

"Excuse me, can I have someone assist me here?"

As Jay was busy talking to the salesman, his mother stood there on the same spot, looking at her son with some emotion.

'My son…'
