Chapter 7 - Life Stealing System (2)

Darius just couldn't help but be confused as to what his future skills were going to look like. It had to be related to Stealing Life from others, that he was sure.

Honestly, Darius couldn't help but think that those skills were going to be incredible. However, there was always a downside to everything.

The downside, in this case, was that no one would want to be anywhere close to him when learning about his system name.

He needed to make sure that the name of his system would remain completely secret or else people would be extremely worried about him.

He still didn't know in detail what was Life Essence, but he wasn't dumb. He knew that it had to be related to some sort of Essence that kept humans or any sort of being alive. It was just really obvious.

'What sort of system name can I even give her?' thought Darius, as he didn't want to say his real one to Ashe as he didn't know her much.

Sure, she helped him awaken, but he had no idea who she was except that her name was Ashe Frost and that she was a B-Rank Awakened. Apart from that, Darius had completely no idea who she remotely was.

"You don't want to tell me your system name or rank?" asked Ashe, looking at the hesitant face of Darius who still hadn't answered her question.

However, Ashe didn't seem to mind it that much, as she continued by saying, "Well, it doesn't really matter, after all, most awakened like keeping their system names secret."

Darius was relieved, he wouldn't need to tell her anything related to his system as it seemed to be the norm in this world.

"So, what are your stats and your skill looking like? And what's your rank?" said Ashe as she looked at the mute Darius who couldn't even open his mouth it seemed.

"Stats and skills? Rank?" responded Darius, not sure what she was rambling on about.

"Did you even open your system?" she, asked, laughing at how clueless Darius was looking.

But, deep down, she understood why he was like that. He had lived away from any sort of people since she had found him years ago. He was now 18 years old and it had been literally years since he had seen people other than her.

Well, she wasn't completely right, it was not exactly for that reason that he was clueless about this whole awakening thing. But she could think whatever she wanted, it's not like it mattered.

"Um, of course, I did," answered Darius as he opened it right away, well he tried to. "How do you open it exactly?" he muttered after a few seconds of unsuccessful attempts.

"I knew it, ahaha, just think of the word 'Status' and it should work," said Ashe, as she continued laughing by herself.

Darius listened and thought of that exact word in his mind.

'Status'

[Darius Bloodheart]

[System Name: Life Essence System]

[Rank: ???]

<Stats>

[Strength: 1]

[Stamina: 1]

[Agility: 1]

[Defense: 1]

[Charm: 1]

[Life Essence Accumulated: 1]

[Lifespan: Five Months]

<Skills>

[Life Steal (Lvl.1)]

[Description: By using the skill <Life Steal>, you will be able to do many things such as living longer, and getting stronger. By using <Life Steal>, you will be able to accumulate Life Essence which will be the key for your future.]

'I don't have a rank?' thought Darius as he saw that his system's rank was hidden.

But, he quickly went ahead and read the rest of the information that he could see in front of him.

'What the hell is this Overpowered Skill?' thought Darius as he simply read the first sentence.

'Living longer? By how much?' he thought, interested in this part of the skill.

He was still interested in getting stronger, but living longer seemed a lot more important.

Wasn't that dream of anyone?

He had immediately looked at the Skills Section but he was now starting to go back up little by little, seeing more information about himself.

And in all this information there was one thing which stood out.

'5 Months? Do I have five months left to live?' he thought, panicking.

Then, a beeping sound was heard inside his mind which was accompanied by a pop-up that appeared in front of him.

*BEEP*

[Do you wish to use your Life Essence to live longer?]

'What is that stupid question? I don't want my second chance at life to end in five months,' thought Darius, starting to find this system of his quite stupid.

'Let's see, by how much will my Lifespan increase?' thought Darius as he heard another beeping sound in his mind.

*BEEP*

[Your Lifespan has increased by one month.]

"One month?! What is this bullshit?" exclaimed Darius out loud as he couldn't keep all of this inside him at the moment.

It was simply too much.

Ashe hearing Darius shout out of nowhere was surprised as she asked instantly, "One month? What are you talking about?"

Darius, however, didn't want to answer as he simply moved his head from left to right showing that it wasn't a matter which she should be concerned about.

Ashe seeing that, understood that it was probably related to his system, so she stopped asking and simply let him continue looking at his interface.

But, then Darius started thinking a little, understanding that maybe one month of lifespan wasn't so bad.

'So a single goblin is the equivalent of one month of lifespan, huh?' he thought, realizing that maybe this wasn't as bad as it sounded.

If he had killed so easily the first time, then he could do so again and again until he accumulated a lot of Lifespan.

This was simply incredible, if he continued to kill goblins then wouldn't he have an Eternal Life?

This was literally the first step to having one of humanity's dreams come true. If he continued killing all those goblins, then he really would become Immortal.

However, as he kept smiling like an idiot, Ashe had no choice but to ask what was happening to him.

"Are you okay?" she uttered.

Darius nodded excitedly as he said, "I guess you could say that. I just don't understand why I didn't try to awaken before."

Ashe could only shake her head.

'You probably won't be saying this when we reach the Avalon Empire.'

What do you think about his system and the lifespan ability? I'm actually interested in some feedback or some ideas for the future.
