Amara's fingers still lingered over Elara's when she noticed a faint glimmer in her eyes, a mix of hesitance and...amusement? That was never good.
"What?" Amara asked, leaning back but keeping her grip firm. "Spill it. I know that look. That's your 'something ridiculous happened' face."
Elara hesitated before casually dropping a bombshell. "I ran into Eirik at the hospital today."
Amara blinked. Then blinked again.
[Eirik? Your favorite two-legged pile of entitlement? Oh, this should be good.]
"Why are you just now telling me this?" Amara hissed, dropping Elara's hand like it had suddenly burst into flames.
Elara shrugged, entirely too nonchalant for Amara's liking. "It didn't seem important until now."
"Not important? The man who probably practices his smirk in the mirror came within a hundred meters of you, and it's not important?"
Elara's lips twitched. "He thought you were still hopelessly in love with him."
