Knightmare

Life had stagnated over the past month, classes went on as they always did with Leylin storing all the information in his AI chip. The main class of note was Knightmare tactics.

Till now they had only been taught about the theory behind Knightmares, along with some tactics. These were still very similar to Blitzkrieg tactics ass that is what Knighmares were used for most.

Having only recently come into the public eye, Knighmares were still only considered a newer version of the tank. Faster and more mobile yet more energy-intensive and expensive.

However few people did realize how much more the Knightmares could do. Mobility was one of the main factors that decided wars. Nepoleans division of his army into corps was considered one of the major reasons he was so successful.

Having invaded the old Britanian homeland he had always been the public enemy of Britania till his death. However, most generals did not doubt his ability and since the defeat, Britania had learned the necessity of mobility in all the wars to come.

All that said today was the day the students would get to see and pilot a Knightmare for the first time.

Most were extremely excited, Princess Cornelia having forgotten George who was at her side making a fool of himself.

Over the past few weeks, George had tried everything he could much to the irritation of Cornelia. While she merely ignored him, Leylin was able to identify the signs of frustration and even anger at times.

He decided to put a stop to this and talk with George, as all this would cause was lead to more problems for George and in turn Leylin.

They were in a hangar with 3 RPI-11 Glasgows, the fourth generation Knightmare frames which were only recently starting to be mass-produced.

"Li Britania you are first, now enter Frame 1. Franklin, you're in Frame 2 while I will be in Frame three and explain the things. In the meantime, the others are to do the assignment on Knightmare safety till you are called out." Shouted the general.

"Yes, Sir" came the quick reply. Most had learned not to question the orders given and went to the balcony to do the assignment.

The assignment was but an excuse only needing 10-15 minutes to finish just to occupy the students.

Leylin entered the cockpit of the Glasgow, with the hatch closing behind him. There was little space and he could only sit, but enough to find and touch all the buttons.

"Now make sure all the parts are operational and run a diagnosis before powering up the frame" came the voice of the general through his earpiece.

Leylin checked all the details and once satisfied powered the Knightmare on.

"Systems check, power on," Leylin said through the radio.

The screen powered on and then he got a visual of his surroundings

"Landspinners activation"

The landspinners fell and started running at 20% capacity.

"Good, now Franklin, li Britannia follow my Knightmare out of the hangar into the pitch.

The generals Knightmare moved and led them outside the hangar. The machine worked well with Leylin knowing all the details thanks to his AI chip.

"AI chip allocate all processes to danger sense and scanning"

[Confirmed]

Soon Leylin and Cornellia had moved out of the hanger into a pitch with a track.

"Now you two will move across the track for 5 laps, after which you will return this is your first exercise so get used to the machine." said the general.

"Yes Sir" Shouted both.

Leylin and Cornellia started moving along the pitch beside each other, suddenly he got another popup on his screen, it was Cornelia's communication line.

"Hello, your highness," Leylin said as he continued moving across the pitch.

"Stop with your highness for now. We are currently fellow students, and plus I would like to propose a competition, Franklin"

"Oh please then call me Leylin, and why me I'm sure George would kill me for this"

"Haah, as if that fool could do anything. No, you came first in the Knightmare aptitude test beating even me, so I wanted to see what that was worth."

"Ohh that does sound interesting"
