Conclusion

"I've got him now, with the loss of his vanguard I should be able to destroy his other force with larger numbers," Cornelia thought

With her scout having seen that his main force, she knew that he would try to come towards this place but by that time she would be done with the vanguard and be ready for them.

"Boom"

She looked beside her as the Knightmare beside her exploded with the pilot and the cockpit being sent flying away from the wreckage.

"It seems we might lose a few of our numbers," She thought running left dodging some bullets. She fired back and shot the other Knightmare into smithereens.

Suddenly her seat shook and her screen became red. She had been ejected from the Knightmare and hence out of the game.

"What!! What happened! Leylin was at least 5 minutes away and there were only 3 enemy Knightmares left." She though

"It seemed the scout workes" Leylin thought.

He had sent a scout to trail the vanguard. He had ordered it to always be one hill behind the other and as soon as the fight started to get to a high position.

From there he was to ignore all other Knighmares and find which one seemed to lead the charge along with cause the most casualty.

Leylin knew that Cornelia would not be a back seat general and would join the fray herself. And knowing her she would probably have the largest kill count, so he decided he needed to get rid of her first.

After knowing where Cornelia was all the person had to do was accurately hit her Knightmare and thanks to Leylin helping with the aiming on the com, along with the fact that he had shot a grenade Cornelia was toast.

Now it was pretty simple as his enemies were like headless chickens. George would try to take command but the noble from the other areas would bicker with him and not follow orders as there was no official second in command.

Soon Leylin reached them and divided his force into two surrounding them and crushing them in the final pincer attack.

"Damn it, how did he hit me so accurately from there," Cornelia said to Leylin as both of them were in the cafeteria.

"He himself was the best marksman in my group and well it would have taken you time to get him since he was high up, he would have had multiple shots. But he was the only one in the group who could do it" Leylin replied

"Other than you that is," Cornelia said smiling wryly.

"Please princess, I am good at most things but I know when someone is better than me in something"

"Please, you already are much better than most graduates. I know you purposefully don't appear as good as you are. I don't know why now tell me"

"Just keeping my cards close to my chest, I want to surprise you during the finals. Who knows I might become your knight"

"Fine then keep your secrets" Cornelia replied turning and moving away.

Soon a year had passed and the finals were upon them. Leylin had decided he would ace all his tests. Becoming the knight of the second princess would be a huge boon.

Plus Cornelia was much more bearable than most princesses. With her status, he would also see the command center a lot more, keeping him safer than most. He would also be able to direct bigger operations from the start as the heirs to the thrones were obviously given a much higher rank than most.

Being Cornelia's knight would essentially make him one rank below Cornelia. That mixed with some planning he could help Cornelia ascend the ranks quickly making connections throughout the military.

Right now most of the power was centered around the second prince. He wanted Cornelia to be an equal force in the fight for the throne. Of course, he would not be doing this overtly. All his efforts would be discreet as even now he knew if the Royal family found out about his plans, he would not be able to do anything.

And so Leylin made his mind and left the academy for the summer back home to complete his projects.
