Finrod went through the redberries bush, to the river and there he dipped his arrows, hopeful that the water would wash away the repugnant smell stuck on it.
He pulled it up, the blood was gone but it still stank. He then got up from his squatting position and went to a nearby shrub, he took a couple of leaves from it and scrubbed them on it and they did work, they lessened the smell to the point where he could tolerate it.
He did so for the others, equipped back the arrows and continued on his journey.
Crossing multiple trees, and shrubs, he went beyond the woods and now he stood on a flat grassland.
He was on an elevated spot and he could see below quite well, he could see the dense vegetation all around that he needed to cross.
He slid down on the slope, and began walking, stomping on the flat grasses below.
EAAAH!
He heard the screech of a strange creature above and he immediately ducked and lay on the ground in an attempt to be obscure.
'A demon?' he thought and slowly turned his neck to look into the dark sky, he saw nothing, nothing but the mist...
He heaved a sigh of relief thinking he was safe when he turned back his neck spotting a demon in front of him.
[Lesser demon-lvl 8]
He froze, sweatbeads oozed off his face.
The red creature grinned widely, either that or it couldn't hide its teeth.
It was lithe and tall with long four arms, two tall legs and a tail. It had four eyes, two on the usual place and two atop those ones, on the forehead. Its face was scrawny and looked like it was stuck in a perpetual leer, Finrod saw that it had no lips.
"EAAH!" It cried at the top of its lungs arching its back.
Finrod swiftly rolled backwards, it was now or never. He nocked an arrow and released it, he missed, he released another and it was going to strike the demon's face when it suddenly grabbed it mid-flight.
It broke the arrow and threw it to the side.
Finrod frowned, he channelled mana across his body and jumped back releasing three arrows in quick succession in the air before he landed.
The monster bent its neck to avoid one aimed at its head, it wasn't lucky with the next ones however as they dug into his chest and shoulder. It winced in pain and it was stunned, this was Finrod's opportunity.
He equipped his sword and ran forward, Mana greatly strengthening him. He arrived in front of it, his knees bent forward and he struck horizontally for a cleave through its guts.
His attack didn't hit, the demon zoomed above flapping its wings. Finrod looked up at it and then decided.
'Time to run.'
He began running through the grassland hoping the trees hundreds of meters away would hide him better from the creature.
The demon wasn't going to have that however, it wasn't going to let its meal leave, especially after taking injuries.
It pulled the arrows from its body and immediately dove down at Finrod, it zoomed forward at high speed flapping its powerful large wings.
It caught up to him and it wanted to grab Finrod when he rolled avoiding its grasp.
Finrod then equipped an arrow, the demon was close and disoriented–there was no clearer shot.
As he nocked the arrow, he felt mana overflowing inside of him and reflexively, he channelled it from his arms into his arrow and then released it.
The arrow went forward in a bang extremely fast, lightning coating it and it went through the back of the demon busting through it splattering sinew and flesh, and escaping into the forest later striking a tree, the arrow burnt to nothing immediately after striking the demon.
Finrod sighed and then a notification came up in his mind.
[You've defeated a Lesser demon-lvl 8, you've been awarded the appropriate experience points]
[You've leveled up]
[You've leveled up]
[You've been awarded the appropriate stat points]
"I've done the thing, I've leveled up." he said in elation and continued running.
He reached the trees at the other end and went into them.
"I've leveled up." He repeated under his breath, he slowly slid down behind a tree to collect his thoughts.
He turned back to where the demon's body lay, he almost couldn't believe that he had done that.
"That was incredible, I shot out lightning. It's just like the power of the gods." He said in excitement looking at his hands.
"This Battle Mage class, what power does it hold? What more?"
He focused his mind and thought of the stat information he had conjured up earlier.

Some values had changed, he noticed and his eyes widened, especially at the 'Battle Mage lvl 3'.
He focused on 'Unspent Stat points' and he got something new.
[Unspent Stat Points are points gained after each level up and their purpose is solely to increase the numbers/quantity of your 'status'. You have 20 stat points, allocate them to your stats so that you may grow in power]
"Hmmm." He rubbed his chin in thought.
He continued his study on the tabs.
