Chapter Three: Don't Look Back

"Yesterday is the enemy of tomorrow if you keep holding onto its failure. Of course, lessons learned from yesterday can be a great catalyst for tomorrow's victory. therefore, forget about the former things and forge ahead. Take that step and you will see the victory prepared for you." Kathryn raised her head sharply immediately she heard this exact statement made by Pastor Nath, the residential pastor of the local church as she sat down sluggishly at the back pue with little An'an.

All the heaviness caused by the fever overnight cleared and her eyes flashed a light with her heart pounding in excitement at what lies ahead. Like a seed that buds suddenly, her hope comes alive and she can see herself in that high place she has always dreamt of since she knows what she wants.

At this moment as she sat down with her daughter, she knew she had made the right choice of coming to the service that day despite her sore body.

After the service, she kneed down near the pulpit and communicate in a whisper to God her failure, deceit, tiredness, hopelessness, helplessness, and her new decision.

"My Lord, I want to try pursuing my career and see if I can make something out of it. Most importantly, I want to create heaven on earth for my children, I want to raise them properly and teach them not to be deceived and be stupid like me," she whispered in tears.

She raised her head and looked towards the altar in a daze, she murmured bitterly "I don't know if the road I am about embarking on will be smooth or will lead to success but I still want to try it but I don't know what to do next. How do I walk the road? I am confused, Please send help to me." she screamed helplessly in tears which attracted Pastor Nath to walk towards her.

"Why are you crying bitterly, my child?" Pastor Nath signaled to his wife, Olivia, to help the dazed Kath to his office with little An'an.

"What should I do? I really don't want to live like this anymore, I need help, Please somebody help me." Kath uttered choking in tears while sitting down in the pastor's office with her daughter.

"God that caused you to come today, has also told me a little about you. He knows all that you are going through and he's ready to help you. Come, wipe all your tears because He has torn all your previous stories and has started your new story which will surely end in praise and victory. Tell me, how can I help you?" Pastor Nath said as He unscrewed the bottled water for Kath to take while encouraging her to tell her story.

"...And that was how I got to this stage but Pastor, I don't want to continue to live like this anymore, I want to start afresh. Do you think it is possible for someone like me to succeed after everything?" Kath told the man as she looked at him with light in her cat-like eyes.

"It is possible child, Nothing is impossible with God and as long as you dare to dream, believe and pursue your dream, then, you can surely become it. Since you said you didn't finish college, the principal of Second high school is my good friend, go back and think about it again. I will give you till Wednesday, if you think you are ready for the new journey then start with doing the national college exam"

"Thank goodness, the exam for this year is yet to close, I will go with you on Wednesday to register and you can prepare for the exam. Don't worry about the payment, my family will handle that. All you need to do now is to go back and prepare your house. Think it through, make the right decision and we will help you with the little we can as God empowered us."

He was happy that this little girl had finally seen the light and was ready to leave this abyss called marriage. He is more than ready to assist to push her further to make the right decision. Unfortunately, this first step has to be taken solemnly by her alone and no one else.

He looked towards his wife and made a sign for her to find something for Kath and her daughter to eat as they looked pale and spiritless. Well, he is of the opinion that good food is a goodie for the heart no matter the heart condition.

"Thank you very much sir, if I succeed in my pursuit I will surely pay you paid and help your family in every capacity I have. I will consider your proposal and give you my choice tomorrow" "

Thank you ma for the delicious meal, It's been ages since I eat this kind of food and I am sure little darling An'an felt the same"

As she spoke, Kath could feel her whole body pores open and for the first time since she came to this village, she felt alive and reborn. the people around her could feel the change in her aura and her firm gaze, not the lifeless she had always been known for when her dad died.

"I will surely make a positive decision and come to see you before Wednesday after I have re-arranged all the chaos in my life" Uttered as she walked out of the church with little An'an.
