Chapter 33: self satisfaction

Owen, mumei and iloma were now outside the train sitting around a bonfire located at the edge of the group of crying people and civilians or that was the case if the Ichiro's didn't come over and started having a good time with Owen and the group much to the envy of others as Owen had pulled out multiple bottles of sake and little packages of food from his inventory nothing to extreme though, but it was still enough to call a small amount of discontented eyes to wander over as even though they had hunted animals and had tons of water from a nearby water tower they still were jealous of the fact Owen and his group had sake.

'The stars are quite beautiful' That's all Owen thought as he layed back on the ground looking up to the sky as the moon was brightly shining in the sky something he knew he would not be able to enjoy for long as he soon got up from the ground and began walking to the center of camp where he saw a large group of people crying and wailing but he ignored this as he began to look around for someone specific.

'There' Finally Owen locked on to a pregnant women with long flowing black hair in a praying position near a small fire all alone, which was perfect for as he soon came and sat near her catching the woman's attention as she turned to face Owen who didn't waste time and spoke.

"Your infected right?" This question caused the woman to freeze her eyes widening in slight horror but her voice did not waiver as she replied in a slow but low voice.

"Yes" This caused Owen to sigh, as he turned to look over his group which seemed to be having small argument with a group of villagers, something he soon looked away from as he soon turned back to the woman and spoke.

"I would say you have 5 to 10 minutes before you completely turn so follow me" Owen said before standing up and dusting himself walk as he began to walk towards the train followed by the hesitant pregnant woman who came not to far behind him as they both entered the train unnoticed thanks to the big commotion caused by the argument between iloma and the villagers.

"Why did you bring me here? Did you want to kill me before I turn?" The pregnant woman asked as she slightly backed away from Owen who stood in the train his figure slightly obscured by the darkness making him look much more intimidating.

"Judging by how you followed me you would not be against that" Owen reply caused the woman to go silent as Owen soon continued.

"Luckily for you that's not my plan as I instead have a plan that might help you" Owen words caused the woman eye to light up with a emotion that was mix of hope and desperation as she grabbed Owens arms with her owen her nails digging into his skin.

'Strong' that's all Owen could think as he attempted to take a step back only to find himself unable to even move a step back as the pregnant woman's strength was insane more than likely to have something to do with her slowly turning into a kabane.

"CAN YOU SAVE ME? CAN YOU SAVE MY CHILD" The woman's voice was frantic but Owen not wanting to get crushed to death quickly spoke as the woman's nails dug in deeper and deeper.

"My friend iloma told me how he became a kabaneri so I wanted to see if it would be possible to help you with it!" Owen voice was clear as he quickly spoke worried the woman might rip off the flesh on his arms.

"How does it work?" The woman asked seemingly calming down after noticing she was hurting Owen as she let him go while he rubbed his arms.

"Well my friend had identified the fact that the so called 'curse' need to reach the brain to take hold something that could be stopped if you stop the blood flow to brain for a certain amount of time" This seemed to frighten the pregnant woman who took a small stepped back as she let out a frighten yelp.

"Are you sure this is the only way?" She asked slightly scared as she rubbed her belly worriedly but she soon stopped as her the area of her chest where her heart was began to light up in a orange light with the orange light slowly spreading throughout her body in vein like patterns that began to slowly make it way up her neck.

"Please help! Do what ever you must please save child!" It was at this moment the pregnant woman began to panick as she begged Owen for help.

'Shit' that all Owen though as he pulled out large strip of cloth and quickly wrapped it around the women's neck before proceeding to tighten it causing the women to immediately begin to struggle against Owen.

Luckily for Owen he had prepared for this as he took a position up behind her allowing for him to avoid her breaking from his hold as he tightened the cloth around her neck causing her to release a choking sound as she clawed at the her neck trying to remove the cloth but it was at this time time that one of the long spider web like lines spreading from her heart finally reached up to her neck but before it could continue it was stopped by the cloth wrapped around her neck.

It continued like this for just a moment before the glowing Vien retreated along with the other backto heart as Owen immeaditly released his hold causing the pregnant women to fall to her knee coughing and choking as she greedily breathed in air.

"Congrats your a kabeneri" that's all Owen said as the women stood up.

Wrote this chap because I wanted to save shino as it always kinda bothered me she had died, will this lead to anything? I don't know as I write chapter by chapter with me thinking 2 chapters in the future at max.

I write best when I'm not thinking to hard about what to write next.

The chapter name is just that self satisfaction
