Chapter 25

The next few weeks were the hardest for humanity. Everything was burning down, and the invasion of that something had not even reared its head yet. Tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, landslides, and volcanic eruptions. 

Many natural disasters were happening without ceasing, which caused the world economy to suffer serious consequences.

Millions of people had died, gone missing, been injured, and lost their homes. The meteorological services' predictions had all gone wrong. The meteorologists of the world were dumbfounded because they could not understand how these weather conditions were happening.

It felt like the weather conditions were being created by someone. The meteorological services' personnel were not the only ones going through this dilemma.

Volcanologists also faced this problem because they could not understand how inactive volcanoes had become active at the same time.

All this uncertainty had caused the global economy to crash. The inflation of food products was the main cause of the crash. 

From this point onward, political, regional, gender, religious, and a whole lot of other differences were put aside to solve the crisis at hand.

It can be portrayed in this setting, where Russian President Vladimir Putin was having a serious conversation with Biden and the European Union members. The Asian and African countries were not left out because they were also present in this meeting.

Chinese President Xi Jinping could be seen talking with Indian Prime Minister Modi about ways to help provide basic amenities to their two countries. These countries have suffered the most due to their dense population, so they knew when to put aside their differences for the greater good.

But the still shocking talks were the ones going on between Biden and Putin, the two leaders of the nuclear-headed countries. Last year, everyone could see how they were after each other's throat, but due to the threat to human life, they had put aside those differences.

Watching the broadcast from the safety of my room, I opened a can of Coke and gulped it down in quick succession.

"Arhhhh, nothing beats a cold drink after a nice, warm bath."

I was having the best time of my life now because of the disturbances. After that mysterious woman on YouTube announced that something was coming, I bought $20000 worth of food and kept it in the storage cold room under the bar. 

I decided to take a loan of $50000 from the bank with an interest rate of 10%. I knew inflation was coming, so I had to make use of the money and cheat people who were oblivious to that fact.

And I must say that was the best investment of my life. Because of the steak business, I was running into the bar. It was booming nowadays; more people had heard of Travis Steak by word of mouth, so I was rolling in cash right now.

The best part was the fact that people spent money on lavish goods because they thought this was the end. But that is where they are wrong. I suspect that if the aliens really wanted to destroy the Earth, they would have done that. 

But they did not, and I could not help but speculate that maybe the natural disaster was caused by the Earth's exposure to mana, just like in novels, anime, and comics.

It was a gamble, but I knew maybe months after all this we would be able to repel any attack against the monsters. So this is the best time to hoard dollars and other valuable products.

Due to the kind of business I ran, I decided to sign a contract with a local steak manufacturer to provide me with a daily supply of steak for a period of a year. 

I had paid the guy $30000 at that time, and I could see him rush in for his pen when he saw the contract. I could see him laughing at me for my stupidity. And he was not the only person to question me if my brains were in my head instead of my ass. 

I knew that inflation was going to come so fast that people would not even see it coming. I just might be the Warren Buffet of modern times. Hhahhahhahahhahahah.
