44. setting(?)

Anyway, she had found a vending machine in an alley and brought with her a few bottles of water and lots of energy biscuits, as for how she opened it, well, she just tinkered a little around it with her mental force, in this apocalypse, it wasn't anything to be ashamed of...

But as she thought, this world was more rotten than she could ever understand from just reading.

Even though they were thrown into a situation which is not anything but an apocalypse in itself, this world's consciousness was still joking with their lives.

Even though the situation was dire and Yuki had a rough guess about the time that had passed by was around 4-5 years, but the food was still available!

Running around she also found that somehow the stores that had basic stuff like the supermarkets were somehow unaffected...!

Wasn't that a joke?

Even though the world was dying, these people couldn't choose to die because, as long as, these things were available, they still had hope and human were persistent, they will try to live just another day even in this suffering, all because of this!

If she had to choose an analogy to describe this, it would be that, this world felt like an RPG based on apocalypse and the stores were like the inventory or stores where you bought stuff to refill your HP... sh wondered if this world was similar to her first world? The setting was already fixed and couldn't be changed... it must be feeling good playing around with the fate of its inhabitants...

As for why she chose this analogy, it was because, of the manufactured and expiration dates on the things she got, for some unknown reasons, the things hadn't gone bad!

The reason that man hadn't tried to stop her for long was also that he was aware of this, but she felt like it was just the same for him and he didn't question it...

It was indeed... a mystery.

Still, for the time being, it was better not to complain, it still worked out for her, you see.

She can survive!

By this time, the man had also found that something was wrong and ran with her.. still, at a time like this, where can they go?

To him, it was better to fight here than run but--

"It's either a centipede or a millipede, they can't fly so, let's go to an higher ground first!"

The man looked at her with wide eyes... 'how....?', he had wanted to ask, but she will tell him later, he had a hunch.

For now, it was a struggle for survival, all over again...

His grip on the little hand that was pulling him forward increased.....

' I'm not alone...and it seems, we finally have some hope... again'
