ARI POV

<i>'Isn't this that commando guy?'</i> James stood with his head down and arms crossed. He never looked an Alpha in the eye, he also never explained when I asked why.

<i>'Only he was human then. The only wolf that was there with them was Wes. Maybe something happened and they all have wolves now.'</i> Forbes looked like a pretentious asshole, but he was really protective and takes care of Nina the best.

<i>'Wes told us that we could stay here as long as we never went near the house.'</i> I realize that we must look like statues just standing here. The Alpha bent and scooped Nina into his arms. She was the smallest of us, but she was still werewolf and he picked her up effortlessly. He didn't walk away with her though, he stood there with us, waiting.

"Wes said we shouldn't go near the house." I told him. I didn't want to run into him and get all of us in trouble because we never followed the rules. He nearly dropped Nina in shock.

"You know Wes? When did you speak to him last? Is he apart of your pack?" I didn't have time to answer any of the questions, mostly because my confusion grew with every one.

Just as I opened my mouth to speak, "You know what? Let's go to the house, I think there are somethings that we need to speak about if you're talking about who I think you're talking about." He turned around and started the walk back with his nurse hot on his heels.

We didn't have much of a choice now. But if he was asking those kinds of questions, then Wes couldn't be with them.

<i>'Let's go. We can't keep standing here and maybe he'll let us eat something.'</i> Forbes hurried after them and James and I followed.

It was an hour walk to the house. And they definitely moved in.<i> 'Holy shit.'</i> Forbes mind-linked me, both guys preferred being mentally connected, rather than speaking. He turned to look at me while walking behind the Alpha, 'Oh My God!' He mouthed with a grin.

We knew this land was owned by humans. It was in the perfect spot to put a place you wouldn't want people to stumble across. Before the commandos came in, there were some sick humans around. Stashing women, drugs and weapons. They rarely ventured into the forest behind and when they did in the early days, the sight of massive wolves deterred them.

We walked in through the back door and found the den. Six kids sitting on the floor drawing and playing.

"Hey, can we have this room for now?" Bodie walked straight to the cream chaise and set Nina down on it. The kids watched fascinated and when he stood and turned back to them, they scattered.

"I'll make sure they get a nap before tonight. Should I let them know that we'll have a few extra people for tonight?" A girl dressed in shorts and a crop top shooed the last of the kids out and turned to face Bodie. Awwww, she has a crush, smoothing her hair back and straightening her shorts.

"Yeah, that's a good idea. But they're not sure they'll stay, so just tell them so they won't be disappointed."

"Okay!" She turned and actually skipped out of the room. I had to shake my head against my wolfs - Shango - horny thoughts. <i>'We might be rogue, but we aren't crib robbers.'</i>

"I'll leave her here and come back in a little while to check on her and bring her some food."

"Thanks for all your help, Agnes." She gave each of us a smile that crinkled her eyes and walked out of the room.

"Do you want anything? We can go into the kitchen. Even though I really want you to answer the questions I asked you earlier." Both James and Forbes looked at me, expecting me to speak.

"I'm a bit confused as well."

"So you're cool if we get that out of the way then." It wasn't a question, but I nodded anyway and when I made no move to speak, he raised his eyebrow.

"When you came in, and took over from the last… tenants, Wes found us while he was running. He said that he wouldn't kick us off, but that we should never come near the house or we run the risk of being shot."

"That sounds like something he would say. So you didn't know him before?"

"No. We thought it was strange that he would let us stay, but he was with humans…" I drifted off, it was his turn to speak.

"Yeah, uh…" He sighed and went to the chair next to Nina to sit. He rubbed his hand over his face roughly a few times and looked up at us again. "I didn't know Wes was a wolf until we got separated the last time. I didn't even know wolves existed. Also, to be fair, I probably wouldn't have actually shot you, just at you."

"You are a wolf now though."

"Divine intervention, literally. I woke up and Caine was there along with the ability to shift into a wolf and a whole pack that needs me to look after them." I went and flopped down on the couch across from him. I also assumed the same position as him: elbows on my knees with my fingers laced together.

"Selene is so weird sometimes." He flinched back a little.

"Obviously a Goddess would have more than one name, Bodie." He said to himself, we heard and chuckled. It was even audible from Forbes and James.

"The Moon Goddess. But that's a lot to say all the time and Selene is one of her names too." I offered to clarify. He glanced at the two guys sitting next to me.

"Did you all leave the same pack?" He was getting into it now. Trying to figure out if we would be a threat to his pack members.

"No, I left mine with Nina. We came across these two a few days later." I looked at the both of them and hoped they would speak up for themselves. They just sat with their eyes down. "They are brothers - "

"Can they not speak for themselves?" He interrupted.

"They don't talk to anyone but me or Nina, mostly just Nina. They have never explained why."

He nodded his head and eyed both the boys for a moment. They shuffled in their seats and peeked up at him. When they realized he was watching they looked down again.

"The rest of my pack has gone through a pretty horrible time last few years and I'm a new Alpha. This place was a command center of sorts for us, when we served in special forces. I had it changed to this when I brought the pack here. This is a new start for everyone… I would like to invite you to stay here, at least until Nina is well enough to travel on her own. If you want to stay after that, we can talk?"

He stayed looking at James and Forbes and when they looked up again he held their gazes. They both gave one nod and he smiled.

"Later tonight, they're putting on a bonfire by the beach, it's just gonna be us. You don't have to come if you'd rather not. But you are welcome, the kitchen is open if you're hungry - "

A little boy came running in the room hold an ear of corn. "Howard grilled some stuff if your friends are hungry, Alpha. They said to come see if you wanted any." He ran back out of the room leaving corn kernels on the ground in his wake. Agnes came in behind him grumbling about running in the house and holding a tray of food.

"This will be here for her when she wakes up. There's plenty of food out there." I took a deep breath, not used to the kindness and generosity. I had Nina to protect and she was my only concern, but if this last run in was any indication - she shouldn't live as a rogue. I tried to convince her to get a job and a place in the city, but she refused; opting to stay with me instead. She will forever believe she owes me for something.

Wes was as nice as a person could be when he found us. He said what he said and hadn't bothered us since. Another wolf would have tried to make us leave or join their pack.

"Is it alright if I take a shower?" Both James and Forbes looked and me then at the Alpha and nodded their head vigorously.

"Oh yeah, there's some rooms on the second floor, do your thing. I'm gonna do that myself and come back for the bon fire tonight. Make yourselves at home." He didn't smile, instead he turned to Agnes and offered her his elbow. She let out a girlish giggle and let him lead her out of the room.

<i>'Dude. What's wrong with him?'</i> Forbes stared behind him in shock, holding up his finger to point in his direction.

<i>'He wasn't raised as part of pack life.'</i> I gave that as an answer and couldn't decide if that was a good thing or bad thing.
