Chapter 7

As Bob sits on his couch watching the news and thinking about Lena, his phone rings with his company's security line on the screen. He wondered why the security man will be calling him at this time. Bob picks the line and is told Lena has been attacked by robbers and is seriously wounded. Bob asks the security man to rush her to the hospital and that he will meet them there. Bob enters the hospital with tears in search of Lena and he is told she has been brought but in surgery. He sees his security man and asks what happened to Lena and who did this. The man narrated the whole incident to him and Bob cries out and asks God to please save her and that he could even give his life for her.

After an hour, the doctors came out to inform Bob of Lena's status saying, Lena is out of danger, that the knife missed her lungs by just a small margin and that she will live. Bob thanks the doctor and asks if there's anything he can do to make her comfortable. The doctor assures him of Lena's condition and that for now she is safe and he can see her if he wants to. Bob cries as he entered into Lena's room, seeing that she is connected to tubes broke his heart. He promised to always be there for her and that her security was now top priority to him. Bob cried looking at his love on the hospital bed with no movements.

Moments later, Lena woke up after hours, but was confused, looking at her surroundings. Bob tells her to be calm and that she is in the hospital and she was stabbed but she is fine now according to the doctors. Lena thanks Bob for taking care of her and asks him to stay by her side as she goes back to sleep.

Two weeks later

(Lena is still at the hospital but better now. Lena decides to test Bob's patience by being mean to him for almost hitting her with his car and being mean to her even when her leg was hurting. Bob has been visiting Lena and even spending nights in the hospital just to make sure she's good. Bob enters into Lena's room)

Bob: Hey, hope someone is feeling better… I just spoke to the doctor and he says you will be discharged tomorrow if the tests comes out ok.

Lena: Hmm…. Okay

Bob: Is everything okay? You look distant… Are you feeling okay, or do I need to call the doctor?

Lena: Nope, I'm fine but I'm wondering why you are always here and being nice to me. What do you want, Mr. Martins?

Bob: Wow! We're back to Mr. Martins huh!! … Well that's ok, I mean I am here because I want to be here taking care of you since you are one of my workers and it happened right in front of my company so it's only right I do this.

Lena: Hhhmmm… Is that all? No other reason?

Bob: Do I need another reason, Miss Mortilor?

"Oh, back to Mortilor. Hmmm" (Lena murmurs)

Bob: Did you say something?

Lena: Nope… But when can I go back home?

Bob: Yes… About that, I spoke to your mum and we agreed that you will be staying with me since she's currently out of town.

Lena: What? Say that again!

Bob: You will be staying with me, Lena.

Lena: Why? I want to go home.

Bob: Can you just stop being stubborn for a minute, and just accept that you are now under my care till your mum gets back?

Lena: No

Bob: Lena!!!

Lena: Hmmm… (Lena scowls, turning away from Bob.)

Bob: Your room is ready and set for you. You will like it.

Lena is discharged the next day and goes to Bob's house. "Hhmm…. Why do I feel like Bob is lying to me? But knowing my mum she's capable of anything, well…. If he's lying, why don't I make him miserable then? Hehehehe yes operation miserable", Lena thought to herself.

At Bob's home

Bob leads Lena into the room and asks her to get comfortable, while he prepares her room and makes something for her to eat.

Lena: Hmm okay.... But if I may ask, what are you cooking?

Bob: Well, I have some stew and rice in the fridge. I'll just microwave it for you.

Lena: What? I only eat freshly prepared food. I'm sorry you need to cook that food

Bob: What?

Lena: Yes, Mr. Martins. Unless you don't know how to cook which I'm not surprised at all, seeing where you are coming from.

Bob smiles and tells Lena to give him some few minutes to cook the food and bring it to her. Bob enters his kitchen, closes the door and tells himself to calm down and prepares the food. Meanwhile in the living room, Lena gets really comfortable by watching TV. She calls Bob on her phone and asks if he could please come to the hall. Bob seeing Lena's call on his phone makes him panic and thinks that Lena might be in pain, so he quickly answers the call only for Lena to tell him to please come to the hall.

Bob: Yes… Anything wrong?

Lena: Can I please get a glass of orange juice or any juice?

Bob: So you called me to come to the hall on the phone only for me to go back and get you a glass of juice?

Lena: Hmmm… Yes, anything wrong with that?

Bob: So why didn't you tell me when you called me?

Lena: Well, I hadn't decided then…

Bob: Hmm Lena… Never mind, let me get you your juice.

Lena: Thank you

Bob returns to the kitchen, does breathing exercises to calm down and talks to himself that Lena just wants to frustrate his life and make him to lose his cool but he won't fall to her mind games. He then serves Lena her juice and goes back to his cooking.

Meanwhile at the office, Abigail and Bob's secretary gossip about Lena. Bob's secretary tells Abigail that Lena is sleeping with the boss and that's how she got her promotion, adding that she can confirm it because she overheard them. Abigail goes back to her office and tell Lucy that Lena is a bad girl and that she needs to be fired. Lucy warns Abigail to tread cautiously and that this could cause a problem for her. Later that day, Abigail sits on her couch at home and thinks to herself. She doesn't understand why Lena is taking her place because Bob is meant for her and she's the right woman for him. She must definitely have Bob.

The following morning, Lena wakes up from bed and decides to explore the backyard since she couldn't do that yesterday and can even use that opportunity to do one or two exercises. As she walks past Bob's room, his door is left open and she peeps inside to see him sleeping peacefully. She steps into the backyard and sees how beautiful it was. Lena sees a skipping rope lying on the grass and decides to use it.

Bob is woken by a sound as he curses whoever was making that sound, he gets up and stands by his window to see what was causing the sound only to see Lena lying on the grass clinching her sides. He quickly rushes down to see what was wrong with Lena.

Bob: Are you okay? What's wrong?

Bob lifts Lena's shirt only to find her bleeding.

Lena: Aahhhhh, it's painful… It hurts.

Bob: What were you doing?

Lena: Don't touch me… I was just trying to keep fit and be active.

Bob: Are you mad? You know what? I can see you really want my trouble… How can you exercise when you just got stitches?

Lena: How am I supposed to know it was still fresh? I thought I had healed. Can we just stop all this and take me to the hospital? I'm hurting here.

Bob: Yes, hospital!

Bob rushes Lena to the hospital and calls the doctors and nurses to come help. After Lena is sent to the emergency ward, Bob realizes he's almost naked as the nurses give him flirtatious smiles looking at his body but he pays no heed to them as he patiently waits for the doctors to be finished with Lena.

Back at Bob's house, Abigail arrives at Bob's house and knocks the gate.

Abigail: Hello boss, how far?

Tuna: Madam, wetin u dey search for here?

Abigail: Oh Mr. Bob na my boss wey I say make I come ask of am as I see am keep, wey he no dey come job these days.

Tuna: Oh so u dey search my oga?

Abigail: Yes! Yes! Abeg if he dey, tell am say Abigail wan see am.

Tuna: Madam abeg he no dey, he komot…

Abigail: Aahh where to?

Tuna: Madam, abeg make una dey go, my boss no Dey. Bye bye.

Tuna bangs the door in Abigail's face and locks it. Abigail gets furious as she leaves the Martins residence and swears to be back.

Next day

Lucy walks to Bob's secretary and asks if he was around for she wanted to discuss something with him. The secretary tells her he's not around as he has taken some days off work and is supposed to return to work next week but if anything she should call him as he's working from home now.

She then decides to go to his house and have that discussion with him. Lucy arrives at Bob's house after close of work to discuss certain issues concerning the office.

Lucy: Hello, Sir. Please I'm looking for Mr. Martins, is he around?

Tuna: Yes oo, my oga is around but is he expecting you?

Lucy: Yes please

Tuna: Okay wait, I'm coming…

Tuna comes back and allows Lucy into the house. Lucy enters the house

Lucy: Hello, Sir

Bob: Miss Ade, hello you are welcome to my house… Have a seat

Lucy: Thank you, Sir

Bob: Okay, so you wanted to talk to me

Lucy: Yes Sir, I wanted to discuss about hiring a new General Manager since Mr. Benson and Anderson were fired and Miss Mortilor is yet to come back. This is causing some work overload and things are not being run efficiently. So I wanted to get your permission to fill the vacant position.

Bob: Ok that's a good idea … You have my full support and I think before new people are brought in why don't you look within first. See if the position can be filled internally first.

(Bob's phone ring)

Bob: Excuse me, Miss Ade. "Hello, is everything okay? Do you need me to come up? Okay, I'm coming right up and don't you dare get up. (Phone call ends)

Bob: Errm, excuse me Miss Ade I will be right back, I need to get something upstairs.

To my wife. I will be right back.

Lucy: Oh okay, no worries Sir… (Lucy has a look of disappointment and anger on her face as she watches Bob go upstairs. She mutters to herself, "After all my good girl act for him to notice me, and he doesn't. And who the hell is this girl? No, I have to be Mrs. Martin junior no matter what. Here I was thinking Abigail was my only threat but it seems there's somebody else. Wait, is he married? No…

Bob: Okay sorry, Miss Ade like I said let's look within first. And if that's all I will like to get back to my wife she needs me. Hello, Miss Ade…

Lucy: Yes… Oh okay, sorry to ask but I didn't know you were married sir.

Bob: Well technically I'm not but I have found her.

Lucy: Oh okay, I'm happy for you Sir. I will take my leave now.

Lucy sat in her car and thinking to herself, said "who could that woman be, and why was she noticed before me. No, I won't allow this… I have worked so hard for him to be mine and nobody will have him."
