"Klein was with his girlfriend all night."
Mona said, "The surveillance footage shows that after he entered his girlfriend's apartment, he didn't go out for the entire night. He didn't leave for work until 8.00 AM."
"Okay."
Roan nodded and hung up the phone. He turned to look at the handcuffed Klein, who was sitting on the bed and looking at him nervously. After thinking for a few seconds, he asked, "You said that Calista took a call and left. Did you hear what was said on the other end of the phone?"
"No, I didn't."
Seeing that Roan's attitude towards him had improved a lot after answering the call, Klein heaved a sigh of relief and hurriedly replied, "Before the phone rang, we were both in bed. After the phone rang, Calista walked out of the bedroom. However, I was lying on the bed the whole time, so I didn't hear what was said on the other end of the phone. I only heard Calista cursing into the phone."
"Ok."
After returning to her room, Lacey wrote down this information in her notebook. After a moment of contemplation, Roan suddenly raised his head and asked, "Why did you turn around and run when my teammate called you?"
"Um."
Seeing that Klein was hesitating, Roan narrowed his eyes and shook his other pair of handcuffs.
"Think carefully before you answer. Deceiving a federal agent is a serious crime."
Lacey's eyes twitched when she heard this.
"Alright, I thought you were sent by Calista to capture me."
After thinking for a few seconds, he decided to tell the truth. After all, the other party's goal was not him. He said directly, "When I was playing with Calista, I installed a mini camera in the corner of the bedroom. I was planning to take a video of our love so that I could reminisce about it in the future…"
Lacey's expression was filled with disdain.
"He's preparing to use the video to blackmail the other party for money in the future."
"Whatever you say."
Klein shrugged. He had not threatened the other party yet anyway. Even if he was accused, he would only be fined a little.
Hearing Klein's words, Roan realized something and asked with a puzzled expression, "Where are the cameras you installed? Our agents searched every room in the villa, especially the bedroom. It's impossible that they couldn't find your camera."
"The villa?"
"Where?" Klein was taken aback. "Calista's house is in the lower Livington District. How would there be a villa?""
...
"I hate rich people."
In the lower Livington District, Lacey got out of the SUV and sighed as she looked at the condominium in front of her. She said to Roan, "Especially rich people who have houses everywhere."
"Think positively, Lacey."
Roan took out his Glock 18 and pointed it down. He slowly walked towards the door of the apartment.
"If we save such a rich person, we can get more gratitude money."
"That makes sense."
Lacey nodded. The FBI's salary was only so little. If it were not for the bonus after solving the case or the reward given by the victim after the case was solved, it would be better to find a bar and strip for money.
The two of them stood on the left and right sides of the apartment's door. They looked at each other. Roan counted down to three, two, one, then kicked open the door and rushed in.
"FBI open up!"
After shouting, Roan carefully searched the first room in the apartment with his Glock 18.
Perhaps it was because of his memories from his previous life, but Roan was becoming more and more fond of shouting slogans.
"It's safe."
"It's safe."
The few rooms in the apartment were empty. After confirming that it was safe, Roan went to the bedroom and took out a camera from behind the bookshelf that Klein had mentioned.
The camera was working, and Roan felt hot when he touched it.
"Looks like this house is Sabrina's temporary residence when she comes out to play."
Lacey rummaged through the bedroom and found a box of toys under the bed. She glanced at it and kicked it back. She tilted her head and pouted.
"I don't know what's the point of her marriage with Darren."
"Didn't Darren say that he was just playing with that man? He loves Sabrina."
Roan took out the memory card from the camera and smiled.
"Maybe Sabina thinks so too. She loves Darren, but she's just indulging herself."
"Perhaps."
After a simple search of the apartment, he found that the other rooms had not been touched, and there was nothing else. Roan then drove back to the headquarters with Lacey.
"I'll leave it to you, Mona."
When they arrived at the office of Investigation Team No. 5, Roan handed the memory card he found to Mona and asked her to look at the video records inside.
"Simple."
Mona's expression was relaxed. Her slender fingers tapped on the computer. A few minutes later, a video was displayed in front of everyone.
The first video was a few minutes of Sabrina and Klein frolicking in bed. Mona pressed the play button to skip the video. A male agent subconsciously sighed, and then Lacey glared at him.
"..."
Was it necessary?
The next scene was exactly as what Klein had said. Sabrina received a phone call, and their interaction was interrupted.
Sabrina left the bedroom to answer the phone. She told Klein to leave, then she packed her clothes and left.
The video was still normal until Mona sped up the video to four hours later.
A man wearing a black jacket, black pants, a black mask, and a black hat suddenly pushed open the bedroom door and walked in.
The man in the black mask found a few toys under the bed in the bedroom and took out a few tempting clothes from the closet. He stuffed them all into a bag and turned to leave the room.
Before he left, he did not forget to close the bedroom door.
The video ended with the scene of Lacey and Roan barging into the room with guns. Mona turned the video to the moment the black-masked man entered the bedroom and shrugged.
"Obviously, this man is not a thief."
They did not steal money or bags, only toys and clothes. It was obvious that they were after Sabrina.
There was a high chance that this person was the mastermind.
"Can you try to confirm this man's identity?"
The black-shirted man was not as tall as Darren, and he looked a little thinner than the black man, Klein. It seemed that the kidnapper was not them.
Roan patted Mona on the shoulder and looked up at the clock at the front of the office.
"It's 5.00 PM now. It's been eleven hours since the victim went missing."
"I'll try my best."
Mona's expression did not look too good. She had no choice. The other party was fully armed and only his eyes were exposed. She could only try to see if there were any surveillance cameras around the apartment.
Mona's fingers were typing on the computer. Roan turned to look at Lacey and said,
"Contact the agent in the villa and ask him to bring Mr. Darren to us. Maybe he can recognize the man in the video."
"Ok."
Lacey nodded and turned to call the agent n the villa.
Everyone had their own work to do. Roan sat on the chair and rubbed his belly. He felt a little hungry after running for the whole afternoon. He looked around and found some unopened food on Ryder's table.
Ryder was still outside asking for information from the relatives of the victims of the serial murders. He was not in the office, so Roan did not hesitate. He sat on Ryder's chair and opened a packet of food to eat.
There was some information about the victims of the serial murders on the table. While eating, Roan casually opened a folder to check.
