Chapter 2: FGO System

Heaven Dou City, the former capital city of the ancient Heaven Dou Empire. It is an ancient as well as a modern city at the same time. There was no gigantic skyscrapers spread across the city, as both the city and the government wanted to preserve Heaven Dou City's antiquity.

10,000 years ago, the Douluo Continent originally had three powerful and massive empires: Heaven Spirit Empire, Dou Ling Empire, and the Star Luo Empire. But that all changed when the Sun Moon Empire, an empire that came along with a new land that had crashed into the Douluo Continent, started a war against the three empires.

That war went on for hundreds of years, with the Heaven Spirit Empire to be the first to fall, before eventually, the two empires, the Dou Ling Empire and Star Luo Empire, were chased off their home continent and went on to find their own continent. The Sun Moon Empire eventually abolished the monarchy and started a democracy, calling this country and its land as the Federation.

But much of the world's status didn't interest Dan Yang right now, he only monologue about the world's history because the original Dan Yang's memories were still flowing into his mind.

He's on his way towards the awakening floor for the Spirit Awakening Ceremony with a pretty looking woman wearing a grey sweater and a pencil skirt by his side, guiding him.

Walking down this silent and futuristic aesthetics of the school's Awakening Chamber and outside through the clear windows, Dan Yang couldn't help but stare with wide eyes.

It was the first time for both John and Dan Yang to be in one of the prestigious academies in Heaven Dou City, Heaven Dou Academy. Albeit it's a small part of their overall campus. The number one academy in the entire city and one that has been active for at least 20,000 years.

Every single elementary academy would have this circular building. It was called the Awakening Chamber, and it was specifically used to aid six year old children in the awakening of their martial soul. Before the day of the awakening ceremony, the academy would invite a Spirit Master from the Spirit Pagoda to conduct the awakening ceremony.

It was the original Dan Yang's dream to attend such a school and as a mystical Soul Master when he awakens his Martial Soul.

Thankfully the woman guiding him wasn't much of a talker, except giving him a warm welcome and a small talk after he asked her to take him for his Spirit Awakening Ceremony, he had the time to think to himself more clearly.

'This world is called the Douluo Planet is called Soul Land in my old world, a fictional world where a percentage of people could awaken their Martial Soul when they turned six years old and if they have innate soul power, they will have the ability to cultivate that energy and become soul masters.'

He inwardly hummed. 'I'm currently on my way to getting my Martial Soul to awaken and I'm honestly nervous as to what would happen. I've only read the series up to the 3rd sequel, I didn't finish it because I got too busy with my part-time work and I was getting bored with the last parts of it as well, but I know that I'll need a decently high quality Martial Soul if I want to reach a high standing in the Soul Master World cause unlike Tang San, I don't have a multitude of mystical, martial art skills or cultivation methods to help me.'

'Unless I join Tang Sect...but I won't, not unless I have no choice. That place is a death trap, especially in a few years. As well as Shrek Academy.'

Dan Yang clenched his hands as they turned around a corner. He got his second chance in life, the body's original owner gave him his blessing, so he sure as hell wasn't going to waste it on spending his life living like some cannon fodder.

'Power...I need power...' His eyes narrowed sharply.

This world might look different but some common logic still remains - strength is paramount if you want to live your life however you want.

How interesting it is to see how humans could adapt to their new surroundings so easily, not even an hour into his reincarnation, and he was already setting himself future goals.

'And in order to do that...I have to become a formidable Soul Master. If that's out, there's also the option of becoming Iron Man.' Dan Yang's thoughts were cut off as he and his guide came to a stop in front of a metallic, circular, blue door with green linings.

"Alright kid, we're here." The woman beside him said.

After she said that, the door in front of them opened up and with an encouraging nod by the woman, Dan Yang nervously stepped inside the room.

There wasn't just a single awakening area within the Awakening Chamber, rather there were seven floors and within each one was an Awakening Chamber. Dang Yang was brought to the Awakening Chamber on the third floor.

As soon as he entered the Awakening Chamber, Dang Yang was dazzled. All of the floors, the walls, and even the ceiling had wonderful inscriptions carved into them to create an elegant, decorative design.

Within the Awakening Chamber was a gorgeous middle aged woman, with luscious long, braided red hair, wearing a simple purple robe, that featured the embroidered form of a soul beast.

From what Dang Yang could recall, both from his past and current life's memories, Spirit Masters from the Spirit Pagoda were powerful and mysterious existences. They were an exceptionally special group of Soul Masters and held an extremely majestic status on the Douluo Continent. However, this was the first time he had ever seen one.

"Hello." Dang Yang said with a nod.

The Soul Master wore a gentle smile on her face. "Come here child. Stand in the middle."

Dang Yang listened to the Soul Master and stood in the middle.

Right at that moment, a gentle white light shone from the Spirit Master's hands and attracted his attention.

'That white light, could it be the fabled soul power that only Spirit Masters possess?' Dang Yang thought with a curious light in his eyes.

While under his astonished gaze, the Spirit Master raised her pearly, white right arm slightly. The white light vibrated before flying off towards the sky and blossoming into fireworks that illuminated the Awakening Chamber with its splendor.

Starting from the ceiling, the inscription lines filled with light as it moved towards the walls. It was as if it possessed a strong and revitalizing energy, as well as a life of its own. The lines kept lighting up until they converged below Dang Yang's feet.

A comfortably numbing energy crept up his legs before entering his body from his heart. Dang Yang's body couldn't help but tremble as he struggled to hold on. It felt as if his body was being electrocuted.

Everything blurred before his eyes, and suddenly he heard a mechanical voice.

'W-What is this...?' Dang Yang stared in utter bafflement at the sudden appearance of a blue screen in front of him.

But it only took a moment for him to collect himself and digested the information that was in front of him.

'Fate Grand Order? Didn't I play that game before for the story and graphics? Damn. I remember farming through quests to get some saint quartz and used them on summoning polls...' He shivered, remembering all the effort he went through grinding.

But seeing those five star servants was so worth it...only after a few dozen or so pushing the summon button.

'It says it's a system so... does that mean it's my cheat in my new life?' If he could move right now he would've gasped. 'Holy crap. That trope actually exist?!'

Dang Yang swept his eyes across the screen to take a look at its option since he couldn't do much right now than to look and mentally command it.

Dang Yang's eyes widened once more in shock at the options he's gotten, especially the summoning option. If what he'd read about webnovels that had a system for a cheat was right then he had the power to summon servants!

Servants, in laymen terms, are Heroic Spirits that are Spirits made into special Familiars of the highest rank. Heroes of the ancient past that carries the powers of their legends.

Could he really summon them?! That's just so overpowered!

Dang Yang was confused on why he didn't activate the system when he first arrived in this world.

'Could it be, the system is my Martial Soul?' It was the only logical thing, well what was logical in a fantasy world, he could think of.

They say that Martial Souls could be anything after all. Even still, having a system as a Martial Soul was absurd to hear.

'Though I wonder what that Installment feature is.'

Although he wanted to know more about his system but most of the features except Status and Summoning are all locked.

'I still can't move. Don't tell, I have to summon them now?!' Dang Yang started to panic. He didn't want anyone to know about his abilities just yet!

But it seems like he has no choice as he wouldn't be able to move unless he starts the summon.

'Dammit! I better hope I get a caster that knows how hypnotize people or else I'm screwed. Or I just get some craft essence...' That last thought invoked a stronge sense of anger in him. No. He wants some servants dammit! At least a 4 star!

'Aaaah! I don't care anymore! Summoning, go!'

Dang Yang forgot about one fact about FGO.

It's a gacha and with his shit luck...

With that, he opened the Summoning. An intense bright light blinded his eyes for a moment before appearing in front of him was a grand image of a familiar summoning feature.

Dang Yang gulped and without thinking, he pressed Summon.

A familiar sequence and sound rang in his ears as the summoning started. And it wasn't long before the first summon appeared.

'D-Damn you! Even in my second life, my shitty luck still follows me!' This just proves how accurate and sad his status was.

Even for a free 10 roll summoning that had a guaranteed 4 star servant, Dang Yang hadn't managed to summon even a 2 star servant.

'W-Whatever. Although Jason is a pretty annoying guy but his Noble Phantasm is one that summons his companions right? Medea, Atalanta, and Heracles!' Dang Yang's eyes brightened. 'Hey, that's right. This isn't a game, it's real life! In this situation, Jason is a useful servant!'

His mood lifted up with such realization, plus the fact he could do another roll with his free 30 saint quartz.

'Alright, Jason, come out and greet your master!' Dang Yang inwardly yelled out with palpable anticipation. Despite how Jason acted in the game, and his history, he couldn't help but feel excited in meeting a real, living hero.

But instead of a gaudy, blonde haired hero with a scummy personality, the blue system screen appeared in front of him once more.

[Servant (Jason) has been acquired. Do you wish to make (Jason) your main installment and (Saber) your main class?]

'Huh? What does that mean?' Dang Yang narrowed his eyes, bewildered.

He saw that the Installment option was unlocked and immediately pressed on it.

Dang Yang immediately realized what was going on when he saw mechanics of the Installment feature.

He doesn't summon a servant to fight for him.

He summons their powers.

Their Noble Phantasm, Class Skills, and Personal Skills. Everything.

He could assimilate them as his own.

Dang Yang grinned, a bead of sweat slid down his temple.

'Isn't this just too OP...?'

And he still hasn't looked at how the craft essence worked...

Dang Yang gritted his teeth and opened up the summoning feature once more and pressed for summon.



Dang Yang was blinded once more but he wasn't faze this time. Instead, he had a gaze of a man on a mission. He was a man of focus, commitment, and sheer fucking will!

'C'mon! Give me at least a 3 star servant! AAAAAAAAHHHHH!'

As the light from the summoning died down and saw what he got, Dang Yang let out a scream once more. Only this time, it was one filled with utter joy.

'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!'

From the view of the Spirit Master, Dang Yang's body was still, she'd never seen humorous behaviors of the latter had, instead she saw him being enveloped in the light, and in turn, was releasing its own light. Within this ancient traditional ceremony, his martial soul had been awakened.

She blinked her eyes, surprised to see what Dang Yang's martial soul was.

"Well that's unexpected and rare. I haven't seen that kind of Martial Soul in my entire 10 years of awakening other kids' Martial Souls. A..."
