Like a Storm

"What problem?" Jaime asked with apparent confusion in her eyes.

"Well, you need a legal guardian if you want to study abroad." Lyra voiced her concern about the matter. It was a fact that they did not know anything about the girl that was sitting in front of them. From her words it seemed that she did not anyone to rely on otherwise why would she be even here in the first place.

"I don't really think that's a problem though. Depending on her grades the government could make an exception and send her either way. Then again she might need a reference from the school so isn't it better for her to talk with them first?" Linri added his two cents to the conversation.

The fact that she might need a legal guardian was a problem but he could probably name 10 different characters that could forge false documents so it shouldn't be that big a deal.

Lyra looked towards her son with curious eyes. She was wondering why he wanted to bring Jaime with him. If he really knew what kind of a school Autumnfall was why should he put her in danger. It was obvious that he did not know anything about the 'Sword Maiden' but he seemed confident that she could make it there. She felt like there was something she did not know and that bothered her.

"I guess you are right but that still depends on her grades. Jaime dear, what do you think? Can your grades be up to the task?" Despite her concerns, she decided to keep them to herself. She did not want to be one of those helicopter parents that were constantly on their child's case. As long as he was fine that was enough, also what kind of a teenager did not keep a secret or two from their parents.

"Yes! I mean they should be enough." Jaime said while enthusiastically nodding her head.

"Then that's that, we should eat the dinner before it gets cold." Arkady declared the end of this conversation.

After dinner Linri went upstairs as always Jaime stayed back there to help his mom. It seemed like they were going to talk about things. With nothing better to do, he decided to message Silfy. He had kept his promise to her and stayed in touch. They usually talked about random stuff so it was also relaxing.

After chatting for some time he heard a knock on his door. Before he even said 'come in' Jaime just barged into his room. For a minute that he thought if this was his home or hers.

"I talked with your mom and she gave me a number. She said it was someone who was working at Autumnfall and her old friend."

"So?" Linri looked at her like he was asking what was her point.

"Who is it?" Upon this question, Linri just rolled his eyes at her. Did she think that he was a walking encyclopaedia or something?

"How should I know? If it was Arkady I might know a thing or two but when it comes to her I am just blank." Jaime sat on his bed. She looked displeased for some reason. Did it really matter who that person was? As long as it was not one of the teachers it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

"Then do you think I should call him?" Linri did not answer her and instead typed something on his computer.

"I wouldn't if I were you. Seems like we have a 9 hours difference with Hanawa, since its 7.18 pm he must still be in the middle of sleeping. You should at least wait till 11 pm, otherwise, it would just be rude." Jaime frowned her eyes upon his answer but then it turned into a faint smile.

"You know that's not what I meant but it's nice to see you joking around again." She sounded sarcastic so it was a mystery if she was really happy or not.

"Oh please! When have I ever been serious." Linri sounded as sarcastic as her.

"Hah, tell that to others, what have you done beside scheming this past month?" Since the focus of the conversation was becoming him Linri decided it was the time to chase her out of the room.

"Whatever, if you have nothing else to say the door is right there. I still have some 'scheming' to do." He pointed at the door but Jaime did not seem to have any intention of leaving.

"Of course I have something else to say. I want 'you' to talk with him instead of me. He 'is' your mother's friend and honestly, I am not as good as you when it comes to words. Here is his number." Jaime got up and put down the paper on his desk.

"*Sigh* Does he at least have a name?" Linri sounded defeated and tired. He was honestly in no mood to bicker with her. For some reason, he felt like he would always be in the losing end if he were to talk to her. He had never felt this way before aside from talking with his IRL father.

"Nope! You can handle the rest, I am going back to my room. Call me when you decide to talk to him." Then she turned around and left the room. He was feeling complexed about this Jaime. She was similar to a storm or a hurricane. She came and left as she pleased, he had a hard time talking to people like this. Still, it was a good thing that she adapted to her new environment. This way at least her possibility of survival went up by a notch.

When it was 11.30 Linri called Jaime to his room and decided to call this mystery person. It was better to get this done sooner than later. When she came in he pressed the call button. It should be 8.30 am in Hanawa so he should be awake by now.

The phone rang one time, two times, three times and when it was the fourth time someone finally answered it.

"Hello, this is Richard Ashwood speaking." A tired voice answered to them at the other end of the phone, but there was an obvious shock in Linri's face. If he was a computer there would be an error pop up right about now.
