Change of Plan

"So, it's about empathy?"

To ask about it seemed rhetorical but Sigmund did not need to point out what his companion would have wanted to suggest.

Diverting the initial plan might be a more viable option. Thinking about it, Sigmund analyzed some variables.

However, the magus seemed to reminisce about certain memories of his previous life that he could not grab and drop into a certain space of oblivion.

"My sister…" Sigmund paused while closing his eyes. "Well, my mother died of natural death and so was my younger brother. I would have wanted them to live longer but it seemed that taking more than one vitality pill would affect their mortal bodies. It would defeat my purpose then."

As of that moment, Darwin refilled the tea to Sigmund's teacup as the former waited for the other to continue.

"My father was poisoned. Upon investigation, he cheated on my mother by having sexual dalliances with various women. Perhaps, taking one vitality pill made him some sort of sexual maniac that he died of excessive sexual activities and was even poisoned." Sigmund spoke before bringing the cup of tea to sip while he reminisced the bitter part of the memory concerning his father.

As he brought down the cup, he continued. "My younger sister, however, was assassinated. I would have used the soul capturer but I was out of the country then. I learned that she was kidnapped and was stripped off any garment including the protective crystal I asked her to wear constantly."

Sigmund paused while he stared at a certain corner. Darwin noticed the azure-colored eyes began to get glassy as if anytime, tears would pour down from his eyes.

Surprisingly, the magus could his emotions, but almost barely.

"I learned days after the burial that she was involved in certain corrupt activities. And that the kidnapping was out of retribution. She held power and she was greedy for it."

Sigmund suddenly rose from the chair as he slowly approached the pool.

"When I thought of my sister, the person I mostly doted on, I realized my failure but I learned that it was not my free will but hers. Thus, I was enlightened about human weaknesses and fragility. That also increased my willpower to become immortal."

While he was sharing about his sister, he seemed to be emitting a ray of frustration and remorse. He saw his reflection in the pool. His appearance looked different than before.

He was not overly narcissistic but he knew about his handsome feature. But the current reflection portrayed an aura of melancholy.

"You are a god now. Or rather, your soul including your present body has the power of a god with that level. You can control it but your powers require you to undergo constant practice not just physically but also mentally and emotionally for you to fully control it well. Accepting that fact will push you to attain your objective as you also learn the ways of the people of this immortal continent." Darwin might have shared the sentiment but he pointed out the fact that his sovereign should accept after his transmigration.

"I actually never thought that I would have this level after the transmigration. I initially thought it would take time for me to get to this level and that I would search for this realm with the aid of your abilities and perhaps, I might enter a sect to learn more magical techniques and would have known other immortals, go into adventures as I continue raising my level. But what I have now is still new and yet overwhelming." Sigmund left the reflection of the pool as he turned to face Darwin who constantly conveyed straightforward facts.

"With the reset of your experience points, you will indeed feel to be living in a new life with retained memories of the previous life. But, I only unlocked memories of your last life excluding all those previous ones you had or you might lose control." The soul of the system brought out a piece of new information that even Sigmund could not help but be astonished.

"I believe you have your reasons for doing that. Regardless, I can do the unlocking so there's no worry on that matter. I need to raise my control points and experience points fast. This overwhelming power and low control can be dangerous." Sigmund returned to his seat as he waited for Darwin to pour another cup of tea for him.

The spirit tea seemed limitless, a fact he was thankful for because of Darwin's abilities.

"Even though I don't have to drink anymore, having this spirit tea can deliver beneficial effects," Sigmund stated as he smiled while he shifted the topic. It was as if the melancholy was almost erased from his current mood.

"The spirit water is also beneficial on you as it helps in constantly purifying your golden blood," Darwin commented as he put the teapot down after pouring refills.

"To live in the mortal village is not a bad thing though. I might even enjoy it. To go lording over the demi-humans and monsters in the primeval forest with the intention to influence their nature for the better by using my power would be like a walk in the park. If that happens, I will have control over them as if they are my puppets and vassals under my command. Again, that's not a bad thing but I might be intoxicated by power and might lose my sense of empathy." Sigmund poured his thoughts as he was analyzing his plan.

"My suggestion will help you gain a better connection with the mortals and other human immortals. The nearest village we are in is a civilization of mortals comprising 65% of the population. Mages and strong adventurers that can wield mana comprise the 30%. Elves and dwarves comprised the remaining 5%. But their village chief, the strongest being in that village is similar in soul force units when you were in the Grandmaster rank." Darwin spoke matter-of-factly, sharing the information they already discussed before.

"So, let's start with that. My recent objective is to elevate my sense of control over my emotions and power. Also, I have to raise experience points but I might learn lessons along the way and you mentioned that learning lessons from the experiences can gain higher experience points."

Sigmund grinned, reflecting a cherry disposition after that discussion.

He demonstrated a complete pivot of emotions while he was mulling the commencement of his adventure in the immortal realm.
