Chapter 4

It's now morning, and after having calmed down a bit I realize it was all a dream and that nothing happened. Therefore, I wasn't in danger, and I hadn't died. After processing this, I realize that it is Saturday. Therefore, I don't need to attend school, thank god cause I am exhausted. Making my way back to bed I remember the dog, and I can't help but wonder if it's okay, so I get out of bed and go look at the vet that I had called to see whether he was alive or not. Once I arrived, I talked to the receptionist and informed her that I was the one who called yesterday and I was wondering what happened to the dog and the paramedic who had delivered first aid to the dog. She states the dog was in a stable condition, and that the paramedic had been long gone as soon as he dropped off the dog. I asked her if I could go see the dog, and she nodded and pointed to where he was located. I follow her directions to where he is and there I find him still covered in dirt and dry blood in a cage. I see some of the stitches on his head and body. Once he saw and smelled me, he recognized who I was and Stuck his tongue out to lick me. I coddle him with the hand he isn't currently licking. He seems delighted for someone who was put in a severe situation. The secretary comes up behind me and asks if I would like to adopt him since he doesn't have a home. She said she hadn't gotten the chance to ask the paramedic since he had already left. I sat in silence not knowing what to do since I didn't have the money to take care of the dog. I suddenly remembered this dog was the one in my dream that stood next to my deceased body for who knows how long. I look at the dog and name him Bee, because of the bee-like colored fur he has. I looked back at the secretary and asked:" Where's the paperwork?" She turns around and walks away, a few seconds later she comes back with papers I had to sign before taking Bee with me. After reading and signing the papers Bee and I went back home and took a bath together since we were both stinky from the dirt, dry blood, and sweat. After having taken a warm bath I went to the superstore to buy Bee his new food and medications prescribed by the vet that I needed to pick up. Once I get back home I give him a nice cold bowl of water and a bowl of food. As soon as it touches the floor Bee starts devouring it. While he eats, I go to my room and think about the message that I got once I had finished signing all the adoption papers. (2 hours ago) "Is this the last piece of paperwork?"I ask, "Yes," she answers (Ding) I look at my phone; I don't have any notifications; I look up and ask her if it's her phone. She looks at me confused asking what I was talking about, I say there was a ding so I was wondering if it was her phone. She says she hadn't heard it as she takes the paperwork back, a few seconds later I hear another ding, this time I was certain that it wasn't just my imagination. I look back at my phone, again there isn't a notification. I sigh, and as I sigh, a large screen pops up in front of me that says power Level increases. The first number was 10 and it seemed as though my so-called power had gone up by four and it was now 14. I look at the secretary baffled and ask her if she sees the screen in front of me. She looks at me and laughs, "you're funny," she answers. I keep looking and analyzing the screen in front of me, from what I can tell I have stats. These stats represent strength, agility, magic, and intellect. All of these combined give me a score of 10; I have one strength probably due to my appalling physical condition, one agility probably for similar reasons and three Mana, I don't know why or what it means but it's more superior than my strength and agility so that's good I suppose. Last but not least I possess intellect which is at five. After looking at this screen for a while I start to understand that each point that I have in a certain category increases my Stat power level which is currently at 14. However, I can't seem to comprehend what it is. After thinking for a little while longer I theorize that those extra 4 points could have been from having adopted Bee. A few seconds after figuring that out I overhear a voice, at first I'm in shock as most people would be when they hear a voice inside their head. Regardless, this voice notifies me that to access this screen I need to declare "inventory" I tried it a few times and she was correct, she equally advised me that I could access another page by announcing my name and then info, she equally notified me that I could do the same for my companions meaning Bee. I looked at Bees' stats, and they are one point in strength, one point in agility, one point in magic, and lastly one point in intellect. There was another piece of information on his info page that said "Additional points to master Aoi". These additional points were +1 to all of my stats. Briefly, before my little corgi dog Bee gave me extra stats I had zero strength and agility… This is bull shit, your going to tell me a little fucking dog is stronger than me… What the fuck. The voice kept talking to me while I'm still in shock from how weak I was. The voice said that on my info page, I could access the skill that I had by scrolling down with my finger. By doing so I realized there was information on each skill in general. Stating there were various ranks for each skill and stat starting from F and going all the way to SS. The ranks were, F, E, D, C, B, A, S, and then SS for skills. I had my first skill which was energy conductor, which was at a measly F rank. Subsequently I possessed another skill, this one was special, it was a unique skill, I can't seem to grasp the meaning but I assume it means I'm the only one in the world that possesses it. Its rank is SS and it's called Adaptation/Evolution. There isn't much information about it compared to my energy conductor skill which says that I can control energy and utilize it to heat or cool things down. Which is pretty fucking boring. Regardless, going back to my more significant skill, the exclusive information I acquired from it was that everyone's skills were set at a predetermined rank that wouldn't change. However, this concept didn't apply to me. Furthermore, there was a limit to how many skills people would get once they awakened, in addition they could only unlock them one at a time but they didn't know how to. Since they didn't have access to the information like I do. Which pretty much means I have 2 unique skills that solely apply to me. This is super overpowered. (back to present time) In a straightforward way of explaining it, I possess a screen that assists me to upgrade my power level by leveling up my stats and skills. After investigating it to some degree, I also found that each stat retains a rank. Each stat occupies points as we learned earlier. However, what I haven't apprehended until now was that from 1-10 was f rank, 11-50 was E rank, 51-100 was D rank, 101-200 was c rank 201-300 was B rank, 301-500 was A rank, 501-1000 was S rank, and anything after that was SS rank. I also learned that being F-rank is the equivalent of being a normal human being in short even though I awakened with this so-called system I'm however weaker than people who have not awakened. But that won't be for long as I'm capable of increasing my stats much easier than everyone else can since I'm more knowledgeable than they are. I can also increase my skills, however, I don't know how to accomplish that yet. But that's okay cause for now all me and Bee need to do is a bit of exercise and we will naturally increase our stars. Finally, the last thing I learned from the system is that I occupy a level, I don't know what it is but I know one thing for sure and it's that the dream I had last night wasn't a dream, it was a prophecy... A warning that in 8 months the world would change.
