Chapter 45: Perfect

Rakesh let them into Martin’s townhome, allowing the woman to enter first. He looked around, satisfied at not being followed. He locked the door and turned just in time to see the woman remove her hood. The wolf felt as if the air had just about been knocked out of his body. The woman looked as if she could be Josie’s older sister. The resemblance was almost frightening.

“Who are you?” Rakesh breathed.

“I…can’t answer that now.” The woman said hesitantly. “I promise, when the time is right, I’ll tell you. For now, I need to give you something.” The woman rummaged through her pockets, glancing at him every so often. “You ever heard the expression ‘close your mouth or else you’ll catch flies’?”

It was then Rakesh realized he was standing there slack jawed. He composed himself just in time for her to pull out a small ring box from one of her pockets. “What’s this?” Rakesh asked, narrowing his eyes.

“The perfect ring.” The woman answered simply. “Take a look if you don’t believe me.”
