Chapter 41: The One

Right before Josie’s eyes, Rakesh’s body shifted. It was surprisingly smooth, nothing akin to what she had previously witnessed. His warm smile greeted her as he raked a hand through his mess of hair.

“I think we have our answer now.” He said quietly, gently pressing his forehead against hers. “I’m not going anywhere, sweetheart.”

Josie didn’t make any attempt to stop her tears from flowing. She threw herself into Rakesh’s arms and held him as tightly as she could. Her relief was short-lived, however, as a myriad of questions flooded her mind.

“I know I’m probably not gonna understand because ‘wolf things’, but I still have to ask.”

Rakesh chuckled. “Hopefully, we can figure the answer out together because even I don’t know what’s going on.”

“Yeah, hopefully.” Josie echoed. “I’ve been around you all this time, and I’ve even seen you shift, but this time it was different, somehow.”
