Chapter 32: Calling in the Calvary

Rakesh lounged on the couch, staring thoughtfully at the knots in the wood on the ceiling. The wolf couldn't readily recall the last time he was in any sort of physical altercation. The only instance that popped into his head was the night of the wolf attack. Any other time in his life, Rakesh was always known as the “gentle giant” of his circles. His height and build usually made people think twice about stepping to him, which he counted as a blessing.

'Guess we'll have to forget that whole gentle part for now.' He thought nervously. The welcome sounds of Josie's soft footsteps as they paced back and forth slightly distracted his wandering mind. He only caught bits and pieces of her phone conversation, but didn't make an ardent attempt because he knew she'd regale him after she was finished.
