Chapter nine.

Anna was walking on the city streets going home, she always border a tax from home to work but today, she wanted to walk some distance while listening to her favourite music through her bluetooth ear pods.

Since it was a few minutes to eight o'clock, the night had covered the sky already. The soothingly cool breeze kissing her skin, the lit street lights on a cool road covered by different kinds of vehicles and people walking on its both sides going to their homes were giving Anna a whole lot of a chilling vibe.

Her gently nodding head and unhurried strides synched the music sounding in her both ears. Unknowingly, she had covered a big distance and was about to reach the next tax station when; boom!

"AHH...!" Anna cried on top of her lungs. " No! Stop..." A teen street robber was violently grabbing her hand bag from her hands. Anna tried to pull it back but she was against a strong boy after all. Everything happened swiftly that even before the people she was walking with could realise what was happening and help her, the bag had already been taken away. Due to too much struggle, she had fallen on her knees in the middle of the road. Thankfully, all cars and other vehicles had stopped.

Anna got up and tried to run after him but people who had witnessed the robbery scenario stopped her saying that once she pursues him and get to their hideouts, they would stab her to death. People who had stopped on either sides of the road were pitting her.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she gazed the running figure of a thief boy. All her money, her two cell phones....all she had remained with was only a left ear pod as maybe another one had fallen in the process.

Unluckily, her first supervisor salary was gone; "You could've at least taken the old cell phone but my iPhone!" Anna mourned. Last month, Lexie had saved her from those rogues but now she was all helpless in the middle of strangers.

The most worst part of all was that she had no money for transportation left. This hit her hard, she had no cell phone to call anybody for help and the distance from where she currently was to home was like six miles away. If it wasn't night time she would've trekked but it's not like all streets has lights with many trekkers, what if drunk thugs rape her on the way?

Anna wiped her tears, looked for shoes across the road and started walking slowly. Nothing so unfortunate had ever happened to her like this in her whole life. She cursed the moment she had gotten the idea of walking; it was the first time she had tried it and ended up like this.

Since the place was infamous for stagging alot of robbers in the whole country, people were used to experiencing such scenes almost everyday. If those trained thieves can steal in moving cars, how about a trekking person much less a weak girl.

Anna walked while fighting uncontrollable tears as she didn't want to attract unnecessary attention again or people pitting her. This is when she felt totally alone and troubled. ' Why me? Why me God?' Anna cried. ' Nobody even cared to contribute some little money for transport so that I could reach home safely' 

Fire burned in her heart and face, the feeling of being helpless and abandoned consumed her. God she had always prayed to felt planets away from her. " All the people I have in my life, nobody can come for my rescue!" She sobbed, " Where are you my mama, am scared. I now regret why I left home mama, I could've been safe with you right now" Anna sobbed with a heavy heart. She sat under a tree besides the road all cold.

Anna cried hopelessly, she had recently noticed how she could run in the restrooms whenever she was troubled but now she is under the tree in chilly cold atmosphere with no idea of how to reach home. Anna sniffed in her bare hands as she had no handkerchief to use. She sat for over forty minutes. Even if she returned to the café, it was closed by now and everybody she knows had gone home. She buried her head in her folded knees as tears had deceased coming. For the first, she would sleep on the street...

" Anna!"

Anna raised her head to see the person who knows her in this hopeless place. It was Liam in the car calling her! 

Anna sobbed afresh upon seeing Liam. Her teary blinded sight looked at the sitting man in the car with pure joy and full hope, her heart excitedly rejoicing. Anna wasn't looking at Liam as her crush who gives her butterflies in her belly but as christ Jesus who had saved her from falling into a bottomless pit. She didn't wait to be called again. She just instinctively entered the already open car as if running from some hideous animal was chasing her.

Liam's worried eyes narrowed at her site, " What's wrong?"

At his compassionate filled voice, Anna burst into tears. " I've been robbed" Was all she said in a cracking and hoarse voice as she looked him in the eyes.

Liam grabbed a water bottle from the dashboard, opened it and handed it to Anna to which she gulped down almost in one go.

" Stop crying." Liam gave her some wipes. You gonna be fine, okay? I will take you home!"

Anna nodded, "Okay"

As if it was the only thing she was dying to hear at this moment all her worried mind calmed down and leaned back in the car seat in relief. Liam covered her front upper body with his jacked and ignited the car.

Liam's cool sweet scent soothed her berserk nerves. As if surrendering herself to Liam, she relaxed and sleep took over.

Anna was comfortably, sleeping when Liam woke her up. She was about to chastise herself for carelessly sleeping without addressing him where she resides when she noticed a familiar place, ' B-but how did he...'

" Let's first get you something to eat before you go home" Liam suggested. Anna obliged immediately, how couldn't she when it was Liam staying so? If he had been merely her crush, he is now her life.

They got in the restaurant where Anna buys food every evening for dinner. Even though Anna had no appetite for food, she forced it as Liam insisted on her to finish it all. After eating, they got in the car and drove past a few blocks and they had reached Anna's residence. At first, Anna had thought that it must've been a coincidence for Liam to take her in the place she resides in but when he gracefully drove till her house entrance, she was shocked and speechless.

' Jesus must've come back on earth through him' Anna asked herself looking at him, he was looking at something on the dashboard, his dark curvy hair falling in his face....was she admiring him now? Forgetting her problems? When he was about to look at her, she quickly averted her eyes. Since she had gotten a comfortable peaceful nap and eaten well, she had regained her energy and back to her normal self.

" Do you have any plan of leaving the car?" Anna heard him say, they were on her door but she hadn't made any effort of getting out. Anna was about to open the car door when she remembered that her keys were gone as well.

" My keys" She muttered.

" You don't keep any spare key some where around?" Liam asked, his dark eyes penetrating through her soul.

" No! Nancy has some but I didn't memorise her phone number but even I had, she stays very far from here." Anna answered like a little girl being questioned by her dad.

Liam just stared at her for some splint seconds before grabbing something and leaving the car. Anna also got out and followed him on the door. Liam applied whatever it was on the padlocks and opened immediately. Anna was at loss of words, what was that, and why was he carrying it with him...but Anna didn't care either way, even if he's also a robber who goes around robbing in people's houses. All she want right now is to be with him, ; to stay around.

Anna got in first and switched on the light. She opened the door curtain to see whether he had left but he was actually on the door waiting for her full invitation.

" Can I came in?" Liam asked and Anna nodded her head even before he could finish the question. Her heart was merrily and at the same time nervously pounding in her ribcage. Forget about the robbery and whatever, what matters right now is that Liam is inside her house. I mean, her house...Halo!
