Arc 1 - Chapter 20: No Thanks
Asia looks at Momoyo in disbelief, for all the things the redhead Devil girl just said about Momoyo.
"Huh, this is the first time I'm hearing about me being placed on the lists of natural disasters." Momoyo looks at Rias with surprise. "Well, seeing how you know who I am, how about introducing yourself?"
"I'm Rias Gremory and these are my peerage. This Akeno Himejima, my Queen." Rias introduce Akeno first, who is sweating crazy and did a stiff bow, not wanting to say anything that risks triggering Momoyo Kawakami. "This is my Knight, Yuuto Kiba." Yuuto didn't do anything, too shocked upon discovering who Momoyo is. "This my Rook, Koneko Toujou." Koneko has already hidden behind Rias, too scared at this point to even be looked at by Momoyo and the others. "Please don't kill us." Rias recall the important info when wanting to avoid causing any problem to Momoyo. Be honest and do anything she says or risk being either becoming a cripple or death.
"There is no point in doing so. Relax." Momoyo rolls her eyes at Rias, for even thinking she would kill others for no reason, then glance at the bloody smear on the ground that's the leftover flesh of a Stray Devil remain. Okay, maybe Rias should be cautious, making Momoyo rethink her choice of words.
"You know, I think we got off a wrong start. Since you've introduced yourselves." Chikao put his [Modified Handgun] into its holster. "I'm Chikao Fukui, a humble Magician." He ignores the way Nyx snicker at that along with Momoyo looking at him with amusement. " This is Asia, our little group's mascot." This nearly caused both Momoyo and Nyx to burst out laughing upon hearing this while Asia is just confused by what a mascot is and wonder if it's a good thing with the way Momoyo and Nyx looking at her happily, so it must mean it's a good thing. And so, Asia smile at everyone. "This is Nyx and yes, if you can guess who she truly is, then that should be her. But, I wouldn't say anything. She is just here for a visit for food."
Nyx suppresses the urge to laugh and smack Chikao, for saying she came here for food and make her look like a foodie, even if it's true. But, that doesn't mean she wants others to look at her like she some weird person.
Rias' face drain of all color once she figures out exactly who Nyx is and that just made the danger level rise massively with the Goddess of Battle here too and working together with Nyx, making this a whole lot of complicated things that Rias needed to inform her older brother about this quick if she survives this whole ordeal with her peerage, that is, then something click in her head.
"A Magician?" Rias look at Chikao incredulity, for she still remembers how this very 'humble' Magician had somehow erased her and everyone in her peerage's [Magic Circle] with just a snap of his fingers. In fact, Rias even thought Chikao possesses some kind of unknown [Sacred Gear] that features canceling out [Demonic Power] and/or [Magic].
"See, even that Devil girl right there know you're anything but a humble Magician." Nyx giggles at Chikao, for using the word: Humble in his introduction as a Magician. "Truly, I must say Chikao, that you underestimate your value, that even little Rias here can understand that you're no ordinary Magician." Nyx gave Rias enough hint, to be very wary of Chikao, and to reason why she did this? Because she wants to see the Devils' reaction to facing a human Magician, who could easily kill them if they weren't prepared and have the ability to counter him.
"Anyway, going by some rumor, there is a certain Devil heiress is to be wed with another Devil Clan." Chikao spoke up, seeing Rias flinch, which was caught by both Momoyo and Nyx easily. While only Asia and Issei didn't notice. "If I remember correctly, this was meant to birth a powerful new Devil, with the immortality of the Phenex Clan together with the [Power of Destruction] from the Bael Clan; however, there are a few Devils in the Gremory Clan, who possess the same ability; therefore, this arranged marriage was made between the Phenex Clan and the Gremory Clan.
"There is such a thing? And wow, Chikao you know lots of things related to the Biblical Faction." Nyx looks at Chikao with suspicion while Momoyo wasn't that bothered by this.
"You learn a thing or two when you have a crazy Stray Exorcist as a former partner." Chikao can still think of all the time he had to deal with Freed. Most of them weren't something he wanted to go through at all, but to gain something, you need to earn it. So, Chikao had to earn his keeps.
"Oh, yeah. You talked about that before." Momoyo still can't believe her boyfriend partner up with a crazy Stray Exorcist. "Anyway, so are we going to fight with these Devils or what?" And just like that, Momoyo made all the Devils put on the edge.
"Not really." Chikao didn't want to bring in more trouble than he could handle. Even if he could take on Rias and her peerage alone thanks to all the [Magic] he has recreated, including possessing the [Light Element] that would for sure kill them with no problem. "Also, we did just came here mainly for the Stray Devils. You were getting stuffy while indoors for too long." Chikao said to Momoyo, who just grins back at him, that she accepted what he said is true. "Anyway, it's nice meeting you Devils, but you know how people in politics are if it gets out, that there are people secretly meeting in a private location from two different factions. Bye." Chikao creates a big size [Flying Thunder God Magic Circle] with Momoyo, Nyx, Asia, and him standing on top of it and disappear in a flash of dark blue light.
A few minutes later*
"You do realize, that people are going to think that you're part of the Greek Faction due to revealing who I am to those Devils, right?" Nyx look at Chikao amused that many people would misunderstand that Chikao and even Momoyo are part of the Greek Faction now, which makes it more complicated for her family back home, not that she cares and her brother can take care of himself without needing her help.
"Would it cause you problems?" Chikao asks Nyx while he turns on his laptop, to study more about science. Seeing how his [Numerical Precision] is at a high enough rank to help Chikao have an easier time studying on the subject of science, but he does wonder what is the next rank after the peak.
"Not really, by the way. Why are you studying so hard on different things when you can continue working on your [Magic]?" Nyx curious if he plans to make another branch of [Magic] from which he is studying right now.
"Helping me figure out making a new [Magic]." Chikao replied, as he rethinks about and the [18th Period Science] is too good to give up once he got curious about what science potentially could do and it could be used together with [17th Period Math Time]. Furthermore, there are a few powersets that Chikao has a memory of that is based on science once he checked.
"Should have known. By the way, you do realize you're in a position that kinda bad, right? I might like you and all, but there are others that are on the same level as me and I'm just a single person. Even if you include Momoyo, she can only take on a single person at a time and won't be able to protect you. How about you come back to my home and I will do my best to protect you?" Nyx smile that's filled with excitement for Chikao's answer and hopefully the ones she wants. "In fact, I can already hear rumors being spread at an alarming rate from the shadow."
"I see." Chikao knew this was among the downsides of meeting Rias and her peerage, but it was needed to get the highest surviving rate out of the other routes. Also, the best time for him to level up once he just hears the keywords from Nyx right now. "Well, I'm bound to have troubles coming in my direction anyway." Chikao brings up his status window and with a thought, to level up and the status window begins to change until it finishes updating.

Chikao knew the risk of leveling up was bad, but to think that his futures related to dangers, disasters, even death routes have massively increased. However, on the bright side, both [Danger Intuition] and [Precognition] skipped a rank and raised to the same rank as [Numerical Precision]. Furthermore, he gained two new abilities, which is great.
The [Calamity Inducement] alone has given Chikao a big trump card, where he can induce disastrous events onto any kind of event.
In other words: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." - Murphy's Law.
This is a very big and something to protect Chikao if used right. If that wasn't enough, he now possesses the ability to affect the soul of others, to be precise their soul bodies, thanks to [Psyche Storm] that use Chikao's [Mana] that's been merged with his own soul to affect people's soul bodies, causing them to feel dizzy and lost. Leading to them extremely making errors and causes the calamity around them to snowball and eventually devour them.
Both [Calamity Inducement] and [Psyche Storm] goes hand-to-hand to bring the best out of each other.
Though, Chikao is very surprised to level up again so soon after the last one, which was 2 weeks ago. Making this whole thing progress so fast compared to the time he was at [Low Sequence 9: Monster]. This makes Chikao wonders if maybe this weird system had enough of waiting for so many years and is pushing him to level up faster. But, for what?
Nonetheless, Chikao knew exactly what he must do in order to raise the acting process for this sequence and a Priest at that. And with [Numerical Precision] at its current rank. Chikao can say for sure, that all the formulas and equations he had problems with before are easily solved now. In fact, the [18th Period Science] won't take that long to recreate at all. Just need to do a bit more studying on the subject of science.
"So you won't come back to my home for protection?" Nyx asks Chikao while trying to persuade him while Momoyo is currently distracted with Asia from the side, where the former is trying to teach a thing or two to Asia about the difference between Stray Devils and regular Devils, including all three types. The pure-type, hybrid-type, and reincarnated-type. Along with the fact, that the Stray Devil technically part of the reincarnated-type category.
"There is no need." Chikao suddenly smiles in a way, that makes one think he is the Devil himself, causing Nyx to take a step back, for this is the first time she has seen such a smile on Chikao's face this entire time since she knows him. "After all, I figure out three branches of [Magic] that are just perfect to deal with unwanted people and I still got plenty of other ideas to make other kinds of [Magic]."
Nyx took a few steps back because out of nowhere she feels a dangerous presence coming from Chikao and it growing very fast, where Nyx is this close to running away just from the instinct of fear deep in her to come out, but that was prevented when the danger coming from Chikao disappear instantly while the blank look reappears back on Chikao's face like how Nyx normally see it.
"So, is there anything you want to do before I start my study?" Chikao looks at Nyx with a blank face. As if he never smile a second ago. Plus, he still needs to gather more knowledge in science to be able to make full use of the [18th Period Science Magic]. Not to mention, thanks to [Numeromancy] is at peak rank. The number of routes he can see has returned back to the same amount he has seen before Momoyo learn the [Root Marital Art of Raging Flame Eruption]. If that wasn't enough, Chikao can now see the future with Momoyo in it again without any problems. Making this a big boon in exchange for having to experience countless calamities in endless possible futures.
"No..." Nyx needs to replan all her steps dealing with Chikao and right now she can say for sure, that something has changed Chikao and have even made her feel fear for a little bit. This is a feeling she didn't expect to feel from a human, then again, Chikao is anything but just a regular human. After all, if what he said is true about figuring three new branches of [Magic], then Chikao is more than just a very powerful Magician, but on the same level as Momoyo's potential, but going by Chikao's personality. Nyx knows Chikao will never ascend to godhood on his own in the normal standards of humans becoming a God.
2 weeks later*
"Well, this is something." Chikao sighs with a bit of confusion, for he tried to recreate the [18th Period Science], but it turns into [Arcane Science], or better known as [Alchemy] by many, yet after trying a few experiments. Chikao finally realized that the only reason why the [17th Period Math Time] worked is due to its simple forms while [18th Period Science] involved many things and the moment he tried to recreate it through [Human Magic]. It changes to [Arcane Science] instead.
For one thing, unlike the [18th Period Science]. The [Arcane Science] use [Mana] as well, even [Ki] if Chikao wanted to. While [18th Period Science] uses barely any [Mana] and through the usages of tools to cause magical chain reactions. [Arcane Science] can do that too, but much more, where [18th Period Science] can't.
Anyway, Chikao really wants to call it [Alchemy], but it seems [Alchemy] in Highschool DxD is a bit different. It mainly involves [Transmutation], but is on declines from what he has discovered from Nyx when he asked about it. So yeah, he has to change the name to [Arcane Science] due to doing many things that others can't with [Transmutation] and much more.
This includes [Molecular Manipulation], which he mainly worked on up to now. Plus, there is the [Property Manipulation] to change the physical and chemical property of matter. Now, that is a big boon from getting the perfect equations for [Arcane Science].
In hindsight, Chikao seriously needs to stop getting new and new branches of [Magic]. He already has a grand total of 11, including the [Arcane Science] while not including the abilities he gained from the weird system. Therefore, Chikao thinks it's enough with all this set of [Magic] and his abilities. Trying to get anymore is just asking for trouble later on as Chikao won't have enough time for everything. Even if he could use [Numeromancy] to gain enough experience from everything, which Chikao wasn't planning to use too much because he saw his foolishness from trying to gain experience with [Numeromancy].
On the bright side, Chikao has many methods of dealing with any foes; well, not all foes. Because he has no idea if [Calamity Inducement] would do anything to Nyx other than annoy her.
"Chikao! We're back from shopping!" Momoyo came through the front door with a cheerful Asia and a bored Nyx behind her, carrying some bags. "By the way, we got guests!" Momoyo moves inside, with Asia and Nyx just put their bags anywhere near the doorway, and behind them is Rias and Akeno.
"I did not expect this." Chikao seriously needs to check with [Numeromancy] a bit more often, because this was not among any of his routes that he has foreseen. Then again, he just remembers that Momoyo's presence always changes the futures more often than Chikao could count, and if he wanted to make any good use with the [Numeromancy]. He will have to keep it active until he finishes the route has chosen.
"Yeah, she just found us shopping and ask for some help and in return, she is willing to form a pact with you, Chikao. I think that what many Magicians would like, right? Forming a pact with a Devil." Momoyo said to Chikao, not noticing the piss off look appear on Nyx's face before it disappears a second later, but it was enough for someone like Akeno to notice and feel very uncomfortable being near the Primordial Goddess of the Night.
"Why do I even need a pact? There are only three main reasons many Magicians would make a pact with a Devil. The first is to use them as a bodyguard. When the time comes, having a powerful Devil behind their back will allow a Magician to talk with their opponents if they are caught up in a quarrel. Secondly, Magicians make pacts because they want to attain the techniques and knowledge of Devils To make it clearer, the techniques standards of the Underworld. These things will play a large role when Magicians do their research. Also, by making a pact with a Devil, they will be allowed to get items/resources cheaper by having an equal exchange. Lastly, they make a pact with a Devil for their own status. Making a pact with a powerful Devil will bring great fortune and success to them. And for me, none of these three main reasons would make me form a pact with a Devil." Chikao points this out, for he has no desire to form a pact with either Rias or Akeno.
Honestly, Chikao wonders if maybe Momoyo forgot that he wasn't a normal Magician sometimes and think what the other common Magicians may need would be something great for him to have too.
