Shopping for dresses and accessories took the entire morning which was to be expected when shopping with Shirley. What I didn’t expect was getting ready for the party to take the entirety of the afternoon as well.
My best friend was as meticulous in dressing as she was in shopping; Every item of clothing needed to be precise, intentional and complementary to everything else she chose to wear.
Not only had she purchased a multitude of dresses, but also a number of them were for me as well.
“Shirley, I thought just the red one was for me!” I was shocked at the rail of dresses in front of me.
“Yes but what if as you’re getting ready you have a change of heart, or remember one of the other dresses you saw and are filled with regret for not choosing that one,” she chirped, slipping into her fifth dress.
