Chapter 49 Another A.I.

The Council took his words to heart and redoubled their efforts to create more ships,build the space station and equip their ground forces with power armor and new weapons.

For now only special forces got power armors but the plan was to equip all soldiers on earth and its colonies.

Earth also had a new defense system which allowed it to destroy targets as far as the moon firing from the surface of the planet.

The cannon that Simon had built on the junk planet was upgraded and over a hundred of them got built on earth.

Scientists and engineers all over the world still studied and even improved the alien technology in the database most of the time they combined earth and alien technology,also the video games,books,movies,and tv shows often inspired a new discovery.

The authors and game developers had no idea how much of their creations would come to life and even bear the same names.

There were over nine billion humans on earth and tens of millions of drones at this point and everyone did their best to speed up the production of everything that was needed for the protection of their territory and also poverty,hunger,homelessness,and even most diseases disappeared in just a year.

There were some left but it was diminishing rapidly and it was predicted to disappear completely within another two years. 

In other words the council space was getting more prosperous and humanity was living its golden age right now.

However as always,the rich target was tempting no matter how well guarded it was and earth was no exception to that.

Some smaller empires tried to invade but they got their asses handed to them pretty quickly.

The difference in fire power and shield technology was so apparent that after the fourth attempt most of the conquerors decided that it was not worth it.

On the other hand some of the weaker races wanted to be annexed by the Terran council.

They were denied for now but they were given hope for the future possibility of joining.

Simon and Mikael were in the middle of the patrol when one of the scout ships reported a finding.

-This is scout ship 92 to any Terran council forces, please come in.

They decided to answer as the scout ship's captain's voice was unusually excited.

-This is Captain Fowler of the cruiser Phoenix, what is the emergency.?

Mikael took the call this time.

-Captain Fowler we found a whole fleet of ships just sitting on the planet's surface,

as per protocol we didn't try boarding them and immediately contacted you.

-Good work Scout 92, send us the coordinates and wait for reinforcements,don't try to scan them or anything as we don't know if it's another A.I situation.

-Copy that.

The coordinates were delivered .

After some more questions Mikael contacted the Council and as the nearest Terran forces he received the orders to investigate this fleet.

The whole patrol jumped as soon as they could and a few hours later they were at the coordinates received from the scout ship.

They found the scout in orbit waiting for them.

Patrol fleet took their positions and targeted the fleet on the surface just in case it decided to come to life and became a threat.

The planet's surface was a desert and the ships were half buried in the sand.

-Captain Ning, was there any movement from the discovered fleet?

Simon asked over the comms.

-No sir,they didn't move an inch for all the time we have been monitoring them and we did not detect any power from them.

The scout captain answered.

-Good, we are going to the surface,care to join us?

-Gladly sir.

-Then let's get ready and meet on the surface in an hour.

-Yes sir.

They went down and landed their shuttles right next to the alien fleet.

All 49 ships were lined up in five rows and they looked like they had been there for quite a while.

-Who in their right mind would abandon the entire fleet?

Captain ning asked.

-The better question is why did they abandon it?

Simon said.

-Lets go in and find out.

Mikael proposed pointing at the biggest ship.

-If I'm not mistaken,this should be their flagship.

He added.

The ship was massive,easily ten times the size of a Terran cruiser. 

-You all know what to do,place explosives on key systems and then search the ship top to bottom.

Simon gave out the assignments to each team.

They all confirmed their assigned tasks and boarded the ship through an air lock they found and had to dig out from under the sand.

The first thing they did was to plant explosives around the ship's power relays and connect them by cables to be sure that they would work this time.

The next step was to find and disconnect the computer core and only then did they try to access it by using a terminal that was designed for this sole purpose.

When the core was powered up it turned out to be another A.I.

-Who are you and why am I disconnected from my ship?

The A.I demanded answers.

-We are humans from the Terran council space navy.

We found you and the rest of your fleet on a desert planet and disconnected you for safety purposes.

Simon explained.

-How long have I been deactivated?

-We don't know we just got here a few hours ago and you are the first that we powered up.

-Then the others are still deactivated?

-Yes they are and we don't want to activate you all for now.

-Then can you at least connect me back to my ship?

The A.i asked?

-We can't,we have protocols to follow when encountering an artificial intelligence.

Mikael explained.

-Did you have a problem with our kind before?

-Yes,we had and now we don't want to repeat the same mistake.

Simon said.

-I understand.

The A.I said,accepting its fate.

-Then what will you do with me and the others?

It asked.

-We don't know yet,as you are our second encounter and we don't want to condemn you just based on the actions of other A.I.

-Thank you for giving us at least a chance to survive.
