Journey of the Moonlight Swordsman

When a popular game and reality became connected, the world changed. Dungeons began to appear everywhere, and humanity quickly started to lose their territories. Fortunately, though, with the dungeons, the people that played this game received powers from their in-game characters, and this enabled humanity to fight back. The story follows a player who’s called Finn, and he is one of the weakest players there is. After being met with misfortune all his life, he went into a dungeon to earn some money for his rent, but because of his terrible luck, he found himself being chased by monsters. Due to a miracle, he barely managed to escape, only to stumble upon a huge door that even titans could walk through. The moment he pushed it open, he was given another chance to change his terrible past, but that was not the only thing he received after he opened that mysterious and sinister door... -------------------------------- Hello! This is my first ever novel, and I have always loved reading novels that made me feel an emotion, be it a sad one or an excited one. So, while writing this novel, I wrote some of the chapters with the sole purpose of making the reader feel the same emotion that I felt while writing it. Sometimes, I had to stop writing to wipe my tears away. ;-; Anyway, I hope you enjoy my first novel!

Fae's story

Fae was born as a princess, but she was never meant to inherit the crown.

She had a big brother that was ten years older than her, and he was the crown prince.

Fae liked her free life because she could do whatever she wanted.

Being a princess but not a future successor to the crown meant that her parents wouldn't force her to do anything she didn't want to do.

Eating whatever she wanted, playing around all day, or sleeping in bed all day.

Her life was simply a bliss.

The servants and her parents all cared very much for her because she was extremely cute, running around the castle with her tiny legs.

But the one who cared for her the most was her big brother.

He was so used to people getting close to him only because of the throne he was to inherit that seeing his sister love him just because he was her brother warmed his heart.

Everyone adored the crown prince because he was intelligent, strong, and most importantly, kind.

And, even though many people tried to take advantage of him because he was the crown prince, he never lost his smile.

He would always brush Fae's hair in the morning. Take her horseback riding in the afternoon and cook her dinner in the evening.

Fae would always make a disgusted face when she tasted her brother's cooking, but she didn't want to hurt his feelings, so she would always say it was good, to which her brother would start laughing because she would look like a hamster with her small cheeks bloated.

She enjoyed the days she spent with her big brother, but when she was ten, the Elvish royal family received tragic news.

The crown prince had died.

He was traveling through the human continent to gain new experiences, and he had apparently died while trying to stop a fight in a bar.

The drunkards got punished with execution, but on that day, the entire Elvish continent grieved.

They had lost their bright sun that was supposed to lead them, and the person who grieved the most was Fae.

She was too young to understand what had happened, so once they told her that she could never see her brother again, she shut herself in her room and began crying her eyes out.

Fae would have loved to stay in her room forever, but because she was the next person in line for the throne, her parents hired a teacher who started teaching her everything she needed to know.

Slowly, Fae began to return to her previous cheerful state because her teacher was a very kind woman who would never shout at her.

Her teacher became her best friend, and one day, when Fae was thirteen years old, they were sitting down in Fae's room talking about arranged marriages and love.

"Do you have someone you love, teacher?"

"I do, Fae."

The teacher chuckled at Fae's question, and Fae quickly jumped to her feet in excitement.

"Who is it?"

"He is a human I met while traveling."

Answering Fae's question, the teacher didn't stop smiling.

"A human…"

After her brother's death, Fae started to dislike humans. The other elves did too, but they didn't openly show it because racism between the two races could lead to war.

"Yes, but he isn't evil, and he makes me feel loved. I will be meeting him next Monday. Do you want to come with me?"

"Yes!"

Fae would jump at any opportunity to get out of the castle because she was stuck inside learning every day.

---

The next Monday, Fae and her teacher left the castle and went towards the harbor.

After getting there, they waited at a pier where the teacher's boyfriend was supposed to be meeting them.

Soon he came, but he wasn't alone. There were two men following behind him.

"Loyd, who are those two? Are they your friends perhaps?"

Fae's teacher walked up to her boyfriend, but instead of receiving a hug, like she had expected, she was slapped and thrown to the ground.

"Disgusting bitch! The only reason I would stay with you is because I would get rich if I sold you as a slave, but your disgusting pointy ears and the way you think you are better than me just because you live longer pisses me off!"

Shouting at her, the teacher's boyfriend, Loyd, could finally say what he thought without hiding his real feelings like he had always done.

"W- What are you talking about, Loyd? This is a joke, right?"

Fae's teacher tried to understand the situation, but everything felt so unreal.

"Grab her already. I can't stand looking at her any longer."

The two men nodded, but then noticed that Fae was there too.

"What about her?"

The two men asked, and after looking at Fae, Loyd furrowed his eyebrows and waved his hand.

"Grab her too."

When Fae's teacher realized that her love had betrayed her for money, she quickly reached for the dagger she always carried and stabbed one of the men in the foot.

"AARGHH! Fucking bitch!

"Run Fae!"

Fae, who had been paralyzed after seeing her teacher get slapped, woke up from her stunned state and started running away.

She wanted to help her teacher, but she had been taught to listen to everything the teacher would tell her, so she tried running away.

"No, you don't."

But because she was only thirteen and couldn't move very quickly due to her short legs, Loyd grabbed her and threw her to the ground.

"KYAAA!"

THUD

Seeing her get caught, Fae's teacher knew it was her fault, so she left her dagger that was stuck in the man's foot and jumped on Loyd.

She bit him in the neck like an enraged beast, trying to buy time for Fae to escape.

"ARGGGHHH! KILL HER!"

Loyd shouted in pain, not caring about the money he would get for selling Fae's teacher anymore.

But alas, Fae, who was rolling on the ground in pain after being slammed to the ground back first, didn't use this opportunity, and Fae's teacher got grabbed by one of the men.

They had had enough of her fighting back, so the man unsheathed a sword and cut off her head, throwing her body into the sea.

Fae only remembered that she saw her teacher's head flying through the air in front of her eyes, and before it could hit the ground, a dirty rug that reeked of chemicals appeared in front of her mouth, and she unwillingly breathed in.

---

After that, she fell asleep and woke up in a dirty prison cell.

She was in a huge basement with other prison cells around her, each holding a different person.

The Elvish kingdom was furious when they heard what had happened, but they didn't know where Fae was being held, and they couldn't risk starting a war, so they kept sending small elite groups that tried to find her, but to no avail.

During those days, she was fed hard bread and stale water.

Talking to a kind man next to her cell, she found out that she had been caught and sold off as a slave.

Days passed, and one day she was led onto the stage where she would be sold off to the highest bidder.

In Finn's previous life, she was sold to a rich noble who locked her up in his basement and abused her for three long years.

The noble didn't care about her being a young thirteen-year-old child. He didn't think of her as a person but as a punching bag that he released his rage on.

For three years, she lived like a sewer rat, getting beaten up to a near-death state almost every night.

She was fed rotten food, and her life was even worse than when she was a slave in a prison cell.

Every day was hell for her.

Fae stopped counting the days and had already lost all hope of ever being rescued.

Her heart became cold, and her hatred for the human race became deeply rooted inside her.

After those three arduous years, some elves who happened to be nearby finally saved her.

They were arresting the nobleman for inappropriately touching an elf waitress in a restaurant, and while they were arresting him, they checked his house and found Fae inside the basement.

She was covered in blood and her own excrement. Her body had no fat on it, and she looked like a skeleton with a thin piece of skin over it.

Fae looked so horrid that a few of the guards who found her vomited from disgust.

After finding her, they quickly contacted the royal family, and she was brought home, but she was never the same.

Going through that hellish experience for three long years broke her.

Even her parents didn't recognize their own daughter anymore, and it was like she was a completely different person.

Her cute smile that she would always show her parents or the way she would try to make them smile by jumping around were long gone.

She did succeed the throne a year later, but the cheerful Fae was replaced by an ice-cold queen who waged wars against humans.

After they had killed her brother and teacher. And after what they had done to her. She had had enough.

Fae snapped and began mobilizing the Elvish armies to attack and destroy the human continent.

The world was thrown into a state of chaos, and everyone was forced to join this war.

It was a long war that took many lives on both sides, but Fae didn't care about the casualties. She was out for blood.

The war later ended with the other races winning because the human side had the immortal players, and the surviving elves had to either become their slaves or hide like rats on other continents.

Fae's life had finally ended when she realized that even though she had slaughtered a lot of humans, her heart could never return to its peaceful state like it used to be when she was a young child.

So, before the humans that were trying to kill her found her, she used her dagger to stab her own heart, ending her life that would have been a happy one had she not gone to meet her teacher's boyfriend on that accursed day.
