Chapter 4. World Hunger Part 2

I was in the presence of the Honored One, apprehensive about how my response would measure up to his expectations. Yet, honesty prevailed over any desire to embellish the truth.

'I'm still a rookie,' I admitted to myself. 'It's better to say the truth than be thrust in a life-or-death situation on the premise of a lie."

"I managed to exorcise some curses while in their, but when I struck Drool, he felt as hard as iron," I replied earnestly to Gojo's question.

"Did you feel pain?" Gojo's question prompted me to reflect on my experience.

"Not really," I responded, attributing the lack of sensation to the influence of Cursed Energy.

"Interesting," Gojo said, but I didn't see what was interesting about my information. He could probably blast a giant hole through Drool by barely moving if he wanted to. I knew he was that powerful.

"I thought I could exorcise Drool," I continued, voicing my doubts in the process. "But after seeing what he's capable of, I don't think I-"

"It's not a coincidence," Satoru interjected, his interruption accompanied by a confident smile that hinted at a deeper understanding. "That you survived hanging around Drool when no one else can."

"He didn't devour you on impulse, or treat you as a threat, immediately," Gojo gathered.

"He kept referring to me as 'dessert'" I recalled what Drool had kept telling me. The way he had said it hadn't felt threatening at all.

'It sounded like a buddy making a tease,' I recalled Drool's tone, in my mind.

After a moment of ponder, Gojo said. "I know for a fact that you can hit harder than you think," Gojo reassured me, patting my head with a gesture that felt both encouraging and patronizing. "Think about it and be ready when I need you throw that fist."

With that, he left like a shadow does to the light.

'Gojo has a point,' I mused, pondering the implications of his words.. 'It's just not right that I'd be placed in such a dangerous situation without any real way to defend myself: And on my first HOUR!.'

'If that app wanted me dead, it wouldn't have given me a fighting chance in the first place.'I reasoned, my thoughts racing as I retrieved my phone. 'There must be a plot to this whole thing, and I could be carryiing a crucial piece of the puzzle.'

"And this mysterious thing holds the key to figuring out just how I solve this situation," I said verbally while navigating to find the Anonymous app. It was easy to make it out from the icon, but the name of the app was dubbed 'TTCM'.

Upon tapping the icon, the app whisked me away to its home page, which greeted me with a flurry of notifications, each adorned with cheerful colors.

Notifications:

# Fourth Grade Curse Exorcised. XP + 1

# Fourth Grade Curse Exorcised. XP + 1

# Fourth Grade Curse Exorcised. XP + 1

...

'They must have all come while I was fighting those curses,' I recalled. In total, I had gathered up to 10 XP, showing that I had exorcised 10 fourth grade curses.

XP: 11

Below those notifications was one that hinted at an achievement.

Notification:

# 10 XP gained. Level Upgraded. You have now reached Level 2. Click to see the reward.

Without hesitation, I tapped on the notification, which ushered me into the levels page. Here, the interface was divided into three distinct panes.

The left-most pane listed the levels from Level 1 to Level X in ascending order. In the middle pane, corresponding abilities were detailed for each level. And on the right-most pane, concise descriptions accompanied each ability.

Levels Page:

# Level - Ability - Description

# Level 1 - Jujutsu - Use your raw cursed energy for exorcism

# Level 2 - Vital Essence - As long as it's in your body, milk amplifies your jujutsu, as is applicable in the T&Cs

# Level 3 - ? - ?

# Level 4 - ? - ?

...

#Level X - ? - ?

"That's gotta be it!" I exclaimed inwardly, recalling my recent consumption of milk. The notion that milk held significance didn't seem far-fetched, given its cherished status as my favorite food.

To delve deeper into the significance of milk and the Vital Essence, I ventured into the terms and conditions section. I scrolled through the lengthy text casually at first while considering if it was time to immerse myself in reading the stipulations outlined within.

BLAST! BAM! CRASHH!

'Yep! It's definitely the time to figure out how I can help," the sound of the beginning of the clash between Gojo and Drool, and how it made tremors to ripple through the air emphasized the importance of understanding the Vital Essence, ASAP!

Just how powerful is World Hunger? The answer to that question was slowly revealing itself as the strongest sorcerer battled with it.

Boooom! BOOOM!

I couldn't keep my eyes on the screen before me. Just as the clash between Gojo and Drool started, it escalated rapidly with an explosion of energy.

I couldn't make out clearly what was happening a couple miles in front of me. I could only imagine the scene as I saw the colors.

'Red, Blue, Purple...' I noted with a shocked expression. From how they lit up in the daylight, they must have been dancing in my eyes. 'How the heck is Drool still alive!'

The ground shook violently as houses got ripped apart and the smell in the air kept changing. Sometimes it was the sharp tang of ozone, then a second later it reeked of raw power.

Every blast Gojo sent was incomprehensible to me. It was one thing to watch it on a screen, but it was a totally different experience firsthand. There were no real words to describe how I was feeling watching the craziest thing happen.

Fear amalgamated with a feeling of irrelevancy to create a wobbling in my legs, while admiration became apprehension. 'How in the world does Gojo think I can contribute to this fight?'

'Throw a punch? Throw a punch at what?' My mind was racing with uncertainty and bewilderment. 'I can't even see Drool? Is he that pale mass pulling everything in, or is that human-like curse attacking Gojo?'

Destruction reigned on the landscape as their fight sent shockwaves that rippled across the nearly desolate terrain. With no real obstacles in the way, the chaos found its path to the river and valley. Trees tore up and rocks shattered, and the sounds screamed as they escaped the fight.

I squinted, trying to follow at least one valid movement. But Gojo was a blur of motion as his Limitless Cursed Technique bent space around him. One moment he was on the left side, the next he was in the air, then on the ground... and before I knew it, I realized my mind was making up his trajectory just to keep me engaged in the fight.

However, I could finally validate that in the central area of the fight, that was where Drool was - or at least his most important form. That was the one point that Gojo kept targeting with his Red, Blue, and Hollow Purple, among a combination of other techniques my mind couldn't seem to digest in that moment.

Drool, or World Hunger, was a terrifying sight. It was a swirling, amorphous mass that seemed to devour everything it touched. The ground around it was scarred and pitted, as if reality itself was being consumed. Its ability to pull everything towards it was like a black hole, an insatiable void that threatened to swallow everything in its path.

In a moment, I caught a clearer sight of Gojo. He had his blindfold removed, and his Eyes shone with an intense focus, though I only saw a glint. Before I knew it, he moved to attack Drool with a speed that could make Kid Flash reevaluate his entire existence.

'But how's Drool surviving all this?' I found myself wondering despite the awe. My focus was keen on noticing Gojo more than Drool, such that I didn't fully grasp the impact of their clash.

But how could I understand anything when these two seemed to be operating on their own time frame? It was obvious that Gojo was learning more about Drool in split seconds, as it was for Drool. Moreover, there was hardly any doubt that these two felt like they were moving normally.

I wondered if they conversed like it happens in anime, but found myself doubting such a possibility. Can you really talk to someone when you are moving as fast and as intensely as that?

The sense of irrelevance that had gripped me now gnawed, chewed, and started digesting my confidence. This was a fight of the gods, and I had no place in it.

'I adored Gojo, but now, it feels like I should be worshiping him,' I thought, my breathing growing heavier and my muscles tensing to the brink of breaking.

Standing on the rooftop, fixated on the battle, I felt another shuddering tremor. Before I could grasp what was happening, the fight reached the house I was in, tearing everything apart in a second. I was left flying with the debris.

Once again, I was terrified beyond terror, but-

"It's time."

The voice of the Honored One gave me a glimpse of salvation. He was here. He was near me. Nothing could go wrong.

"It's time for what?" My mind picked up on his statement with a panic.

'Why are you bleeding? I didn't see you get hit even once.' I wondered silently, noticing the blood on Gojo's face.

"For you to throw that punch," Gojo clarified as he made my body move as fast as he was. "Are you ready?

'How could I be ready?' I doubted myself. 'Was this guy serious? How did I even factor into all of this?'

"No! Hell No!" I almost shouted at Gojo. "I don't even know what's happening right now. How can I be ready?"

"Ha," he chuckled and smiled lightly, then let out a strained breath.

'Seriously, when did Gojo get beat up so hard?' I couldn't ignore how exhausted he looked.

"I thought you might feel that way," Gojo said calmly, despite our streaking movement. I could feel as he resisted something from time to time, but couldn't tell what it was. I couldn't see anything except for Gojo, and everything had seemed to have gone dark, despite the day light.

"That's why you'll deliver the most effective punch ever," Gojo said confidently. I didn't sense any intent to reassure me in his tone. No, his words exuded a certainty, as if it were destiny.
