The Rain

When Rose saw those pictures, she dropped them, her heart was heavy with pain and grief, and she was feeling dizzy.

After watching those photographs none of them was brave enough to read the letter at least not right now, none of them could sleep that night.

Jayden was scared, while Rose on the other hand? She swelled her eyes, she was bawling like a child, and the sight of her brother's body left her in trauma.

The next morning Jayden took a shower, to help him freshen his mind, when he was standing in front of the mirror drying his hair with the towel, his eyes stopped on the reflection of the envelope which was lying on his desk beside his bed.

He reached it with his shaking hands he took out the letter from inside.

"I told no one about what you are! Now you have a favor to return! Find the Alpha! You have 24 hours or suffer the consequences, don't forget, rain is coming, The Rain! Sincerely, Yours!"

He mumbled everything written on that letter "How am I supposed to find someone whom I've never seen" He was grinding his teeth, flipping his desk upside down.

"What happened?" Jayden's mother came inside when she heard a noise.

"Nothing! I need some air!" He quickly dressed up and got out of his room.

"He can't possibly threaten me with rain!" He murmured to himself "Maybe he's planning a flood! Yeah, he could do that I think" He was frightened and overthinking was making his throat dry "Maybe I know the alpha? But I don't know if he's an alpha?" He thought.

Even though he was scared to go to school, he somehow managed to get there, being surrounded with friends was less horrifying for him.

Later when he was in the canteen, his eyes searched for Rose everywhere but she wasn't anywhere. He realized she wasn't even in the class, he was worried for her.

"Where is Rose?" He asked.

"I called her! She had a fever!" Ivy took a sip from her juice "By the way what happened between you and her?" She asked out of curiosity.

"Don't you know? She's the sister of Felix! I'd suggest you to keep your mouth shut around her" Before Jayden could even open his mouth, Monty whispered.

Turns out both Benjamin and Ivy were unaware of it "What?" She turned pale.

"Hey don't talk to her that way!" Benjamin punched Monty on his arm.

"I am not specifically talking to her I am warning you all!" Monty rolled up his eyes.

They started talking about normal things as usual, it was only Jayden who felt guilt when he heard anyone talking about Felix, for him it always felt as if it just happened.

The memory of Felix dying replays inside his brain every time, every time it frightens him.

He was still thinking about Rose when his eyes somehow fell on the corner of the canteen, he saw Hawkbone standing there, with his eyes stuck on Jayden.

"I'll catch up with you guys later" He excused and reached Hawkbone.

Afterward, they both got on the lawn within the boundaries of the school this is where they used to enter the school from, there was a fountain with a statue of an angel with a bow and arrow aiming at the sky, that fountain was dry since forever, then there was another big main gate, this is where Hawkbone walked Jayden.

"What are you doing here? You can't just spy on me everywhere I go!" Jayden whispered with both his hands inside his pockets.

"I think you forgot about your deadline?" He placed his hands on the head of his staff.

"I didn't forget it! You granted me 24 hours, Do you think people can forget your terrifying smile and your letters with such warnings?" He lowered his eyes.

"Only 30 minutes left!" He shook his hand to pull down his cuff and stared at his watch.

Jayden protested about the timing because it wasn't 24 hours according to him, he received his package last night.

"The time I spent on packing and sending then the delivery time is also included, I think you forgot to read the back side of the package!" He passed that creepy smile again.

"This isn't how it works! I don't know who the alpha is! You are just a psychopath, it's just you had nothing to do so you annoy people! Go away and never come anywhere near me!" Jayden grunted with anger, he had enough of his warnings and silly mental torture he was playing on him.

He turned his back and started walking toward the door.

"I'd be very careful with my words if I'd be you?" Hawkbone smiled opening his arms "The rain is coming 20 minutes earlier" He started humming, and Jayden stopped walking.

"The rain pours its thickest drops,

send the hissers, send hammerkops,

with the poison in the beak

for those who growl and those who speak." He sang in a spooky melody.

With his voice trees started shaking with a heavy wind, and dark clouds covered the entire sky.

Jayden turned his face toward the sky the heavy wind was blowing his hair. He turned his head where Hawkbone was standing, He was gone, all he saw was a crowd of students peaking out of the windows of their classes.

Within a few minutes, the sky was filled with birds but tiny birds, Jayden's friends reached out to Jayden to get him inside, they were only a few steps away from the door when they heard a splattering sound as if something big fell on the ground but not dry, something wet.

As they turned back they saw an approximately 18-inch-long snake with a thick body on the ground, and that was just the beginning, that's where the rain started… the rain of the snakes.

Students were screaming with fear, Teachers evacuated the students and locked themselves with students in their classrooms, the principal tried to call someone for help but there was no reception on any cell phone.

No one witnessed such a thing happening before, it was a horrifying sight, hundreds of snakes falling one by one and slowly slithering under their own position.

After reaching his classroom Jayden peeked out of the window and saw Hawkbone walking toward the woods, he stopped and turned back smiling at Jayden and his eyes glowed, he stayed like that for a minute bowed down to Jayden, and left.

Now Jayden knew why he was threatening him with rain, this was the most terrifying sight anyone had ever witnessed Jayden was angry at Hawkbone but he was mostly angry at himself for not taking his threat seriously.
