The Angry Dead

Back before the Revolutionary war a handful of settlers had gone to the ground and found that the tall trees, the drooping willows, and the overgrowth of green vines and hanging flowers had a perfect atmosphere, so they had begun burying the dead there. A small wooden house had been built which had a chapel and embalming room down stairs and residence upstairs.

Wood was always supplied and a man worked full time making caskets of varying kinds, displaying them, then selling them to the locals who then brought their loved ones by horse and carriage to the graveyard and buried them, the good ones in front under the trees, and the criminals and unsavory in the back outside the fence.

A large tree inside the yard served for hangings and several characters had been shot in front of it, but for the most part the stones, angels and small crypts housed those to be remembered for their good deeds.
