My Sons

Ashton

Ashton reached the Greene family home. He wants to see his father to seek his advice. It's very rare for him to get his father's advice, especially on his personal life issues. 

Rachel saw her son suddenly come home after their last quarrel.

"Ashton, you are home."

Without answering his mother, "Where's dad?"

"In his study room."

Ashton walked straight away toward his father's study room.

Rachel could only shake her head at her son's behavior.

Ashton knocked on the door and called his dad at the same time. He opens the door and finds his father sitting on his chair while reading a book.

"Dad," Ashton called his father again.

Luke raised his head to look at the door frame. "Ashton, something happened? It's only 4.00 pm and you are home."

Ashton looks at his father and contemplates whether it's best to share the news with him.

"What is it, Ashton? Say it" Luke put aside the book in his hand. 

Ashton entered and closed the room door.

"Dad, I think I have done something very very bad and got myself into a very serious situation. I..." Ashton stops his track. He looks at his dad with a heavy heart. He doesn't know how his parents will react to this bad news. But, he felt that his parents should have to hear the news from his mouth before others.

Ashton stretched out the pictures of Emma and her sons to his father. Luke looks at Ashton with a curious face and starts to examine who was in the pictures that had been handed to him.

Luke widened his eyes, "Don't tell me, I already have a grandson? A triplet?" He was shocked but showed a bright smile on his face.

"Who is this woman? Is she the mother of your sons?" Luke threw another question to Ashton.

"Dad, I don't even know if the children were truly mine?" Ashton testing his father reaction.

"If they are not yours, are they your little brothers?!!!" Luke was so pissed off at Ashton's lame answer.

Ashton sighed looking at his father.

"Look at their faces, they are your replica, Ashton!" Luke stood up and scolded Ashton.

"Dad..."

"Call your mother to come here!"

"Dad, please. I don't think it is the right time to break this news to her. I have given her a hard time these last few years. I don't know how Mom will react to this. She might get fainted." Ashton trying to reason with his father.

"No, call her to join this conversation. Let her hear your story too. Don't you try to exclude her from the stories if you don't want her to act by herself to investigate the women and the kids in these pictures. It's going to be more complicated for you to settle if your mom got involved." Father gave a lecture to his son.

"Alright, alright." Ashton gives in to his father.

Rachel entered her husband's study room.

She can sense something is off between the father and son, "What is it? Has something serious happened at the company, Ashton?"

"Honey, come here and look at these pictures," Luke called his wife.

Ashton looks at his Mom facial expression when she started to look out on the pictures one by one. 

"Mom...I'm sorry.." Ashton quickly apologizing to his mom before she could even say anything.

"What is this, Ashton? Who is this woman? Who are these children? They were yours?! My grandsons?" Rachel has so many questions for him at one time.

Ashton looked at her mother, "I slept with her once six years ago. I never thought and I have never known of her pregnancy until today."

"So, these children were really yours?" Rachel's jaw dropped.

"Their faces show it all, Mom." Ashton didn't deny it.

"Oh God! I have had a grandson all this while. Ashton, what else are you waiting for? Please bring them home." Rachel was so delighted with this news. Luke also smiled at her wife's words.

"It's not going to be that straight forward Mom. What do you think why that woman hid her pregnancy from me all this while? I have been looking for her for the past six years. I even hired a personal investigator to locate her. She fled the country after the one-night stand incident and only came back to this country until recently. Maybe, this is a twist of fate, she happened to be the newly hired manager with Holderin Inc. If she didn't came back to the county, I might never know of these children's existence forever."

"Ashton...don't tell me that you have done it without her consent?!" Rachel looked at her son with a serious face.

"I don't know what happened to me that particular night, Mom. Someone has drugged me. I don't even know what I did. As of the investigation, she was also a victim. She was drugged too. We are totally strangers to each other." 

"What's her name?"

"Emma Austen. I don't even know her name back then." Ashton sighed silently.

Luke frowns hearing that woman's surname,"Austen...? Does she come from the Austen's family? The owner of the Austen Airlines company?"

Ashton widened his eyes, "I have no idea, Dad. Joshua still working on the investigation."

"Ashton, I don't care who she is. Evidently, she was the mother of your sons, my grandsons, and I want you to bring them home as soon as possible. I bet she has been struggling a lot raising your sons alone all this while. She carried the babies inside her belly for 9 months without a husband and taking care of a triplet since then. I can't imagine what she has been through. I only have you with so many maids helping me to take care of you growing up."

Ashton brought his head down listening to his mother's words.

"I bet she doesn't even have a maid to help her taking care of her children, the house chores and also work to earn at the same time. Ashton, don't waste your time. You must bring them home as soon as possible. If you cannot do it, I might intervene...."

"Mom...please, don't do anything," Ashton begs his mother to stay away.

"They are the Greenes, Ashton. Our bloodlines. Do whatever tricks in your sleeve to bring them home." Rachel looks at her son with a stern face.

"I know it's not going to be easy for you to win their hearts or come home to us, Ashton. But, you must do something. Let them know that you including your parents are care for them." Luke give a few words to his son.

"We as your parents, we never taught you to run away from a responsibility, Ashton. Both of you might don't have any feeling to each other, considering on what happened between you guys before, but these children is your both responsibilities. If this woman, willing to raise and loved them all this while alone without even have any intention to contact you, why can't you? Forget your ego, these boys need you, they need their father." Rachel scoop his son face while blurted a long lecture.

"Mom, I understand. But, give me some times to settle this issue, okay? I promise to bring them home." Ashton don't know how to explain his feelings. But, he definitely can't blame anyone but to himself.

"Okay, I will not do anything in your way." Rachel agreed her son request.

'I will bring my son's home no matter what.' This is his promise to himself.
