Chapter 2: Star Dou Forest

Blue lightning flashes in a cave located in the forest outskirt of Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's Compound. The lightning flash move on at random and left a crater to everything it touches. This blue flash of lightning is Yu Xiaogang in his Lightning Cloak mode.

He borrowed the concept from Raikage's signature Lightning Release: Chakra Mode. The user wraps their body in a layer of lightning chakra to increase the physical parameters, the more lightning causing greater increases. And then, instead of chakra, replace it with spiritual power.

He finally managed to recreate this technique after painstakingly training his spiritual power control and manipulation with leaf sticking exercise, tree walking, waterwalking, water-floating, and completing rasengan.

To do this Lightning Cloak, he encompasses his whole body with spiritual power and then change its nature into lightning.

Five months easily passed since he trained the Lightning Cloak. That's make it almost a year since Yugi got transmigrated. His Soul Power has been promoted pass Rank 10, the maximum of Soul Trainee. But he didn't hurry to find a Spirit Ring to integrate. He wants to train more of his body before finding a Thousand Year old Spirit Beast.

He returned back to the clan compound. And when he entered the compound, the air changed and almost everyone glanced at him while some engaged in conversation about him.

Having the special identity of Patriarch's Son+Trash Martial Spirit, Yu Xiaogang become hard too not spot on in the street. There's always one or two clansmen or small kids who ridiculed him and mentioned his martial spirit when they saw him. Though, whatever those clansmen said never mattered for him. 

In his previous life, Yugi has been bullied since early childhood thanks to his unique name. Though it was only verbally, mental, and cyber bullying and never goes as far as physical bullying. Thanks to that, he has learned and mastered the art of not giving a f*ck earlier in the life.

Though, no one dared to drag him into a silent alley for a beating like before. After all, he's been training his body ever since. And he did beat the shit out of those who had bullied him into pulp with sheer raw power and pencak silat.

Against kids like them, it's not even a fair competition. These kids spent their days by cultivating those crappy circulation method to gather the spiritual power into their body. Ignoring the physical aspect of their body. In another word, if it's described in game term, they keep increasing INT and WIS while discarding STR and VIT.

Most of the Assault System Spirit Master in this Douluo World is like this, a fragile glass cannon. They have strong attack, but only select few who could block it with their body alone. Perhaps these people rely too much on overall stats increase when their cultivation broke through the bottleneck. Or they were too focused with the notion of group fight, ignoring the fact that there's no such thing as eternal fighting team. 

'Maybe it's time ...'

Yugi has a lot of plans for the future, and he didn't want to do it here. After all, this place brings too much of negative energy for him. With such unsupportive environment, even if he could ignore them, it's still bothering his mind.

And so, he decided to leave after he has enough confidence on his power.

It was end of the month, and he was prepared to leave after getting his monthly resource in the Resource Hall and withdrawing all of the money in his account on the bank. He noticed that his monthly resource got reduced, probably because of embezzlement or his father decided to reduce the allowance allocated to such a waste like him. 

"Sarabada, thanks for the experience." Yugi muttered as he easily sneaked out of the compound.

At first, Yugi wondered why no one followed him when he went out of the town in the forest. While the forest is relatively safe, there's still Hundred Years Spirit Beasts roaming there. But then, Yugi found out that not even his father cares whether he's alive or dead. He even thought that his father would be happier if his son is dead.

'Well, that's more than enough of a reason to get the hell away from this place I guess.' he thought and left this place that has been Yu Xiaogang's home since he was a kid.

Yugi went to the Star Dou Forest right after he left his clan. Aside from wanting to get his first spirit ring, he also had another mission in this place. 

He was confident enough with his strength now, after all ... with a chidori along with lightning cloak mode, he could obliterate a huge boulder into smithereens. But a wise man once said, 'supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.' If he could avoid engaging in combat, why bother?

He passed the forest easily by jumping from one tree to another. Of course, avoiding the dangerous beast above ten thousand years old. 

Yugi didn't rush out to search for particular spirit beast. As previously stated, he had another goal that he wants to complete in this forest. He wants to make an encyclopedia of spirit beast. The spirit beast of this world is vastly different compared to the organism back in the earth. They went through a different system of evolution.

When he was in the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, he had read all books related to Spirit Beast, but aside from preliminary introduction of name and what type of spirit it is there's nothing at all. Not even an illustration in those books filled with nothing but text. Thus, forced by necessity, he wants to make one. At least, he wants to make one for the Star Dou Forest region. 

Thus, with that in mind he began his observation and field research.

Three years has passed, and Yugi's nine years old birthday is approaching. He has lived in this forest and learned on how to survive in these woodlands, he has completed 1130 entry in his encyclopedia of spirit beast. 

The content of his encyclopedia is very comprehensive, starting from the spirit beast's name its type, the average spirit ring years, general description, habitat, their skills and habit of defeating their prey, and obviously the illustration. He also made an ID to each of them based on their entry.

'Just like Ash Ketchum said ..., gotta catch em all. Though, in my case gotta record them all.' this thousands paper sheet has the most detailed information about spirit beast, and Yugi feels like he's collecting a pokedex whenever he recorded new spirit beast.

He avoided the core area because of his cultivation. Yes, he's still a Rank 10 Spirit Scholar. But he could handle thousand years spirit beast with ease. And perhaps ten thousand or older beast.

Yugi never stopped experimenting with his nature transformation. He mastered the lightning spirit power nature transformation, and now he's training both wind and earth spirit power nature transformation. 

He has long realized that the essence of nature transformation is using his spiritual power to create a 'change' in the nature. By causing friction in the air he created lightning, by moving the wind he cut a leaf, and by changing the molecular arrangement of the soil he raised dirt. 

He was still unable to do anything about fire and water though. Those two elements are still hard for him to comprehend. What causes fire? Of course, it's a combustion reaction. But how to do it with Spiritual Power? And how come people in Naruto could conjure water? Those are still unanswered question for the current him.

Regardless, his sheer combat power is way beyond a Spirit Scholar. He might be at the level of Spirit Grandmaster with his current strength and jutsu repertoire. Yugi further trained his shape manipulation and make a thunder blade or thunder dragon. Also, by adding wind spiritual power to Rasengan, he recreated the Rasen-shuriken. He also could use some other jutsu for example Earth Style: Rising Mud-wall or Wind Style: Great Breakthrough. All of these jutsus can be executed without the need for hand seals.

'Alright ..., let's hunt that rat and breakthrough the next stage.' It was finally the time to advance into the next stage.

One of the reasons why he postpones his promotion to Spirit Master is because he wanted to analyze what is the best Spirit Rings for him. And now he has completed learning every single beast in this forest, at least those that aren't too dangerous for him. And he decided to take a Purple Thunder Rat as his first spirit ring.

This spirit beast is small, only around 10 to 25 centimeters long. Just like the name, it was a lightning type. However, don't underestimate this beast for its small size, their average cultivation is thousand years. They also have incredible speed, capable of moving faster than eyes could catch. Though, that's useless as Yugi could run a race with them using his Lightning Cloak. This spirit beast was found near the core area of Star Dou Forest.

Yugi ran through the branch like a swift and agile monkey. 

In another corner of the Star Dou Forest. A young girl with pink hair was accompanied by an extremely feminine man. The man in yellow robe was using his martial soul to capture an arachnid spirit beast. 

"Saintess, I've restraint this Earth Poison Spider. Go on ahead and kill it."

"Thank you for the help, Elder Yue." said the young girl with charming smile.

Taking a small dagger, she stabbed the cephalothorax of the spider spirit beast. Ending its life. Afterward, a yellow spirit rings floated out from the carcasses. With out further ado, the young girl sat on cross leg and started absorbing the spirit ring while the effeminate man took watch on her.

After an hour or so, the girl succeeded in absorbing the spirit ring and her martial soul evolved. She opened her eyes and with an excited smile she stood up and experimented with her new spirit skill.

But when she was about to summon her martial soul, purple lightning flashed accompanied by a blue one. Then followed by a loud roar of thunder. It happened in a blink that even the Titled Douluo beside her couldn't react.

"Elder Yue, what was that just now?" 

"That's ..., let me check it, Saintess." Yue Guan soared to the sky with his Chrysanthemum martial soul.

Chrysanthemum Douluo watched the purple and blue lightning flash carefuly, and after squinting his eyes a bit he widened his eyes and rubbed it. He couldn't believe what he just sees, and his mouth opened in confused manners. Those two lightning flashes were actually a spirit beast getting chased by a boy no older than the young Saintess. 

It was incredulous, a spirit beast with thousand years of cultivation getting chased by a boy around 10 years. And to make it more extreme, the spirit beast is the Purple Thunder Rat famous for its speed. Even a Spirit Elder or Spirit Sect might have trouble catching up with this kind of spirit beast. But this ... boy who has some kind of lightning aura coated around his body is chasing the beast.

"Elder Yue, what was that? Did you find anything?"

"Saintess, this ..." Yue Guan lowered his altitude and explained what he just saw to Bibi Dong.

"There's such thing? Let me see, hurry up, bring me up!" the young Bibi Dong demanded the feminine man to pick her up. They both soared up and she could clearly saw the rat chase that is happening.

Though, to her eyes it was only a flash of purple and blue that zigzagging along the forest.

Few minutes later, the chase was stopped. Yue Guan saw the boy catch up with the Purple Thunder Rat and stabbed its small body with a dagger. Killing it instantly.

"It stopped, Elder Yue, let's check that person!"

"As you wish ..." 

Chrysanthemum Douluo also interested by that young boy. What kind of technique that make his speed superior to a Spirit Elder while he's just a Spirit Master? He immediately crossed the possibility that the boy is a Spirit Scholar as that would be even more ridiculous.

They arrived at a clearing, the impact of that one stab create a huge crater with diameter of 5 meter. In the center of the crater, there's a corpse of spirit beast with purple ring floated and was being absorbed by a boy. Bibi Dong was shocked to see how young the boy was, to think that this boy could run so fast like that. 

"Elder Yue, did you sense any guardian around?"

"Answering to Saintess, I did not sense anyone around here."

'Did he come by himself? And absorbing a purple spirit ring? Wait, he's ... a Spirit Scholar? Suicidal! How can someone dare to absorb purple spirit as the first ring?' Bibi Dong gets another dose of shocking as she realized there's no spirit ring floated around the boy. Meaning that this Thousand Years old Spirit Ring would be his 1st Spirit Ring.

"Elder Yue, chase away the spirit beast that approach! Let's wait here, I'm interested with this boy." Bibi Dong commanded the Chrysanthemum Douluo and she sat on a protruding tree root waiting for the boy. 

There are only two conclusions of this matter. One the boy couldn't handle the spiritual power of the Thousand Years old spirit ring and exploded. Or two, he succeeds and broke all the common sense of this world. Either way, she looked forward to it and secretly hoped that the boy would give her a surprise.
