Chapter 41 The Perfect Rainstorm

"Fia," A soft voice whispered to me while I was gently being shook. "Love, wake up."

I let out a muffled groan as I stirred in my sleep.

A hand pushed some hair out of my face, the touch gentle and lingering. "Baby. Up and at 'em."

I squinted one eye open, the room still dark with no light but the moonlight that was coming through the window. Wes was bent down on the ground in front of me, his hand running through my hair.

"What are you doing?" I croaked out, my voice horse and raspy. I smiled softly, seeing his eyes light up when they met mine. "It's the middle of the night. Why'd you get up?"

Wes only grinned at me, raising his eyebrows. I could see the amusement dancing behind his pupils. "I have to show you something. Let's go."

"What?" I whined as I swung my legs over the side of my bed and sat up, rubbing my eyes tiredly. "What time is it? Why aren't you cuddling me?"

Wes chuckled softly as he tossed me my shirt that was left lying on the ground. "It's three am, I think. Come with me, questions later."

I blew our raspberries like a whiny little child as I reached over to grab my sweatpants, quickly sliding them on. "I am sore." I grumbled as Wes took my hand and started pulling me out of my bed. "And for the record, Michelle won't always be so eager to stay at Chris's all the time. I'm surprised she's been giving us so much space lately."

Wes sighed dramatically, not seeming too bothered by my voiced concerns. "We'll find a place then."

"What?" I pulled him back to stop walking down the hallway, taken aback by the nonchalance behind his tone as he easily suggested we could find our own place to move into together.

Wes turned to face me, stepping closer and cupping my face. A small smile tugged on his lips, his eyes warm and filled with admiration as he peered at me. "I know we've only been dating a month but there's only a few months left of the semester. If you wanted to, of course, we could always find our own place."

I looked at him through squinted eyes, still in a deep haze of sleep. "You want to live with me? Don't you see enough of me as is?"

Wes chuckled softly, leaning down to kiss my lips softly. "I can't seem to get enough of you, sweetheart."

I bit the inside of my cheek, biting back a smile. My whole chest warmed up at the idea of living with Wes. "You'd really want to move into together?"

Wes rolled his eyes playfully in response. "Do you really have to ask that? All my mornings would be perfect if I was waking up next to you."

My cheeks flushed as I smiled goofily, my heat fluttering away like the Joker walking down the steps. He still made me giddy and fidgety without even trying. "Where are you taking me, Weston?"

Wes smirked as he continued pulling me down the hall without answering my question. "Trust me, will you?"

I sighed as I dragged my feet along and followed him until we got to the doors that entered and exited the dormitory building. My eyebrows pulled together. "We're going out at three am while I'm in my pyjamas?"

Wes paused, tilting his head. "Sort of?" The smirk on his face only made me grow more suspicious and concerned about his intentions here. He was being sneaky and not trying to hide it.

I narrowed my eyes, giving him a bewildered and questioning look.

"Come on."

"It's raining!" I stared out the glass doors with wide eyes. How was he going to expect me run across the campus to the parking lot when I was wearing a t-shirt? It was pelting down heavy rain.

Wes looked at me over his shoulder, grinning mischievously.

I didn't have time to protest because he had already opened the door and headed out while he held onto my hand and pulled me along with him.

I tried to halt my feet to the ground but he was much stronger so he easily pulled me outside with him.

I shrieked as the cold rain showered down on me, instantly making me shiver as I got drenched. The whole campus was empty, not a single soul in sight. Not only was it the middle of the night, but it was cold and raining like crazy.

"Wes!"

He laughed adorably as he continued dragging me further out. He gave me one strong tug that caused me to stumble forward and fall right into his chest.

I looked up at him, trying to blink away the raindrops that were falling onto my eyelashes. I stared at him with wide eyes, swatting his chest softly. "You woke me up to bring me out in the rain? What are you doing? Are you crazy?"

"For you?" He grinned cheekily, nodding his head firmly. "Yes, I am."

I rolled my eyes, pushing myself off of him. "It's motherfucking cold!"

Wes laughed deeply as he pulled me back into his chest, wrapping his arms around my waist and holding me tightly. "Dance with me, Fia."

I gawked at him like he was mad. "Seriously? Come on, Wes." I gave him a tired look, slightly shivering in the cold as the rain continued to pour down onto us.

Wes continued smiling, raising his eyebrows. "Dance with me, Fia."

I couldn't tell if he was being serious or if he really was going crazy but I gave in because the sooner I did, the sooner I could get back to the warmths of my room and change out of these soaked clothes.

I sighed, reluctantly wrapping my arms around his neck. "Happy?" I lightly winced at the sound of soft thunder rumbling through the sky, the rain continuing to make me shiver as hair stuck to my face.

He shook his head, pouting out his bottom lip. "At least pretend you're enjoying this."

I scoffed, gaping at him. "Enjoying this? Wes, I'm sleepy, soaked, and freezing!"

He leaned his forehead against mine, pecking my lips lightly. He didn't seem the least bit phased by my reluctance and complaints. The closeness brought me warmth that radiated off his body, relaxing me a little more. "Just trust me. Relax your body."

Wes held me close for a moment longer before he took my hand and spun me out, causing a squeal of surprise to escape my lips. He spun me around and into his chest.

I couldn't help but laugh over the loud sound of the rain pattering to on the ground as I stumbled on my feet. The puddles forming around us splashed as Wes started dancing around me with a bright smile on his face.

I laughed as I finally gave in and found myself lost in the moment, dancing like an idiot in the rainfall with Wes.

The rain soaked my hair, making pieces stick all over my face and get into my eyes. I laughed deeply as I pushed the hair out of my face while Wes kept his arms wrapped around me, swaying softly to the sound of the rain with me.

I exhaled deeply, peering at his eyes that were filled with love and excitement.

In this moment, I knew Weston Hamilton owned my heart. There was nobody else that would ever give me as much happiness as Wes did, even if he wasn't doing anything at all.

He was it. Wes was had always been the one.

Wes's hand rested on the back of my neck. He peered at me for a moment before pulling me into him and crashing his lips onto mine eagerly.

Wes's tongue slipped into my mouth and danced with mine as I clutched onto his shirt and pulled him closer to me.

I melted into him, the world around me floating away as I kissed him. I pulled back slightly, looking up at him with squinted eyes, trying to see past the blurring rain that was falling upon us.

"I love you."

Wes blinked. "What?"

I smiled softly. "I love you, Wes."

Wes exhaled slowly, his eyes lighting up. "I love you, Fia." He leaned down and kissed me once again, this time slowly and carefully. Taking in each second, devouring every little tingle as he kissed me unhurried.

Wes gradually pulled away from me and reached out to intertwine his fingers through mine. "Let's go." He pulled me along as he rushed back into the dormitory building, like he was trying to beat the rain.

I laughed as we finally got back inside and were sheltered from the rain. Wes wrapped his arms around me, hugging me tightly as I shivered from the cold but I was filled with so much adrenaline and excitement that the cold didn't even bother me.

The water puddled onto the floor around us, our clothing sticking to our bodies and droplets falling off our hair and skin.

Wes started guiding us back to my room but I stopped him, reaching out to pull his arm back.

Wes quirked an eyebrow, his face gleeful and full of life as he looked at me.

"What was all this about, Wes?"

His lip slowly tugged into a sincere and heartfelt smile.

"I didn't kiss you in the rain last time."
