Chapter 23 Couple-Trapped

I tilted my head, standing at the side of my bed and watching Wes's sleeping form. His chest rose and fall evenly, his eyelashes long enough to brush the top of his cheeks. Pieces of his hair fell on his forehead as he stirred for a moment.

A moment later, he opened one eye, squinting as the bright sunlight seeped into my room. "Picture lasts longer, babe." His voice was much deeper and hoarser than usual, causing a shiver to go down my spine.

I grinned, taking a seat on the bed beside where he laid. I held out the mug of coffee to him, "Morning sleepyhead. How's the headache?"

In response, Wes groaned, keeping his eyes shut. He turned his body so he was lying on his side, moving his head to rest in my lap.

I laughed, finding him oddly very adorable right now. "Come on, we have much to do today."

"One more minute," he spoke softly, still in a deep daze of sleepiness.

I placed the mug down on the bedside table before again, I found myself running my hand through his perfect hair. Wes snuggled up closer to me, keeping his head in my lap like a little child. It was cute.

I continued brushing my fingers through his hair, letting him sleep for a while longer. Minutes later, he lifted his head and looked at me through squinted eyes. His face had an adorably confused, kid-like look on it. "You woke up early."

I shook my head, grinning at him. "It's noon and you're hungover."

He groaned as he sat up straight, rubbing his eyes tiredly. "My bad."

"No worries," I handed him the coffee once again which he gratefully took. "Stefan is going to take you tux shopping and fitting."

Wes leaned back against the headboard, scrunching up his face. "Really?"

I nodded, "Yes. Unfortunately for me, I also have to go get my bridesmaid dress fitted."

"Can I come?" He grinned at me, a childishly happy look on his face.

I laughed. "No, sorry. But Sage and I will meet you guys for a late lunch. Sound good?"

Wes sighed dramatically but nodded his head. "that is far too long without your company, Fia."

I rolled my eyes playfully as I hopped out of bed. "I will see you later today." I shot him a smile as I headed out of my room but he stopped me before I could.

"Wait!" I spun around, giving him a questioning look. "My girlfriend isn't going to give me a goodbye kiss?" He had a cheekily hopeful look on his face, raising his eyebrows.

I laughed, sticking my tongue out at him as I turned back around to leave. "Keep dreaming, Wes."

"Oh, I will!" He yelled out behind me, causing me to laugh even more.

I stood in front of the mirror in my dress, waiting for it to be pinned up so it could be fitted properly.

"Not bad," Sage nodded her head in approval. "I thought your sister would surely make you look like a mess but you actually look amazing."

I laughed, rolling my eyes as I looked at Sage through the mirror. she carelessly sat on the sofa behind me, watching me get my dress pinned up. "I had low expectations but I am happily surprised."

Sage narrowed her eyes at me. "So, Wes."

I quirked an eyebrow. "What about him now?"

She shrugged, tilting her head as she looked at me. "You guys are really cute together."

I refrained from rolling my eyes. I really did owe Wes a huge thank you for all he was doing for me. "Thanks, I guess."

A sneaky look took place on Sage's face as her eyes lit up. "How's the sex?" Leave it to Sage to remain blunt and outspoken at all times, no matter the company around us.

My jaw fell as I gaped at her with horrified eyes. "Sage!" My face flushed, going bright red. The seamstress who was working on my dress didn't hold back her small laugh.

"What?" Sage shot me an innocent look, grinning. "A girl has to ask."

"No, she doesn't," I shook my head at my cousin. "One does not kiss and tell."

Sage sighed dramatically, leaning back on the sofa. "Come on! My sex life is at a big halted stop right now. At least let me relish in yours."

I snorted. There was nothing for me to say because my sex life had also been at a big halted stop for months now. Not that I was going to explain that to Sage because she couldn't know that Wes and I are strictly friends.

"We can find you a cute groomsman to get with," I wiggled my eyebrows at her.

She pouted out her bottom lip. "One could wish, Fia."

After we had finally finished with the dress fitting, we headed out to meet up with the boys at a restaurant that Sage picked out. We both headed inside when Sage turned to stop me. "I'll be back."

I gave her a questioning look.

"Bathroom," she smiled at me before scurrying off.

I found the table Wes was seated at, giving him an odd look. "Hey. Where's Stef?"

Wes looked up when he noticed me, a smile growing on his face. "He said he left his wallet in the car." Wes narrowed his eyes. "Although it has been long enough for him to get back."

I nodded slowly as I sat down across from him. As soon as I had, my phone beeped with a text notification. "It's from Sage, huh."

Sage: Stefan and I are going shopping. You two lovers have fun ;)

My eyes went wide, looking up at Wes who seemed just as confused as I was. "I think they're bailing on us."

"What?" Wes laughed. "Why?"

I shrugged, texting Sage back to ask her what was going on.

Sage: Come on, you two are stuck spending all day with our crazy family. Have a cute date away from all things wedding and family, goofy :) I know u love me

I shook my head, laughing as I placed my phone down. "Looks like they set up a date for us."

Wes quirked an eyebrow, intrigued. "I'm not complaining."

I leaned back in the chair, tilting my head as I looked at Wes. Things felt different. I admired him. In the sense that I was beyond grateful we had run into each, grateful we had become friends.

The sunlight from the windows hit his face perfectly, making the very few and faint freckles the dotted around his nose to be seen. He hadn't shaved so a very slight five o'clock shadow was forming, making him look older and more handsome.

The side of his lip twitched upwards in a cocky grin. "You look a lot like a love-struck girlfriend, Fia. Almost had me fooled."

I rolled my eyes playfully, giving him an unamused look although I knew he could see the amusement dancing across my features. "For a fake relationship, I think I got a pretty good catch, Weston."

Wes quirked an eyebrow, "You calling me a catch, Fi?"

I shrugged casually, analyzing my nails with faux interest. "No need to make your head grow."

Wes let out a breathy chuckle. "My head already grew when you deemed me worthy enough to be your boyfriend - fake boyfriend, that is."

I looked at Wes again, trying to find the humour behind his words but his eyes were soft and warm, sincere. His tone didn't hold any playfulness.

My heart swelled up, not sure what his words entirely meant but somehow, he did always know what the perfect things to say were.

"Can I ask you something?"

His eyebrows pulled together. "Of course. Anything."

I pursed my lips for a moment. "Do you regret coming here with me?"

Wes laughed, not taking me seriously. When he noticed the look on my face, his eyebrows furrowed further. "Are you kidding? Why would I?"

I shrugged softly, looking past him to avoid his gaze. "It's not the ideal winter vacation, is it? My family can be suffocating, you're stuck going tuxedo fitting. It hasn't been the smoothest ship to sail."

Wes laughed softly, taking me by surprise. He shook his head slightly, reaching across the table to take my hand in his, holding it gently. The gesture made me feel all warm and fuzzy. "Fia, there is nobody else I would rather be with. You might find it hard to believe but I'm having a good time, especially if it means waking up to you every morning." He shot me a wink, going back to being the same Wes I was ecstatic to have become friends with in the first place.

I laughed, tucking some strands of hair behind my ear with my hand that was free. "I never properly thanked you so I will now. Seriously, thank you for everything, Wes."

Wes gave me a warm look, smiling wholeheartedly.

"No need to thank me, Fia. It's been my honour."
