The Stone Golem and runes

David's team ventured deeper into the island's wilderness, pushing their boundaries and testing their limits. The dense jungle gradually gave way to a rocky terrain dotted with massive boulders and ancient ruins, hinting at the island's long-forgotten past. As they climbed over a ridge, they came face to face with a hulking Stone Golem, standing over four meters tall, its granite skin glistening in the sunlight.

David's eyes narrowed as he activated his Observation skill. His vision filled with the Golem's status:

Stone GolemLevel: 10

HP: 1500/1500

MP: 200/200

Buffs: Physical Damage Reduction +100%

"Everyone, listen up," David called out, keeping his voice calm despite the looming threat. "This thing's got physical damage reduction. That means our physical attacks won't do much. We need to focus on magical damage. I'll use my Hellflame, but it'll take time. Keep it busy and watch each other's backs."

Mark nodded, raising his shield. "You heard him. Let's go!"

As the team moved into position, David began casting Hellflame, a wave of heat radiating from his hands. The flames licked at the Golem's stone surface, slowly but surely chipping away at its massive health pool. Despite the Golem's resistance, the Hellflame managed to inflict some damage.

The Golem, sensing the threat, turned its attention to David. It uprooted a nearby tree and hurled it with incredible force. Mark leaped forward, raising his shield just in time to intercept the massive trunk. The impact was brutal, knocking both Mark and David to the ground and reducing their health by half.

"David, you okay?" Mark asked, struggling to his feet.

"I'll manage," David replied, wincing. "Keep it distracted."

Mike drew his bow and fired a volley of arrows at the Golem, aiming for its eyes and joints. The arrows bounced harmlessly off the stone surface, but they succeeded in diverting the Golem's attention.

Meanwhile, Sarah charged forward, her spear aimed at the Golem's legs. She thrust with all her might, but the spear barely left a scratch. Frustrated but undeterred, she continued her assault, hoping to slow the creature down.

David saw his chance. Activating his Haste skill, he sprinted towards a nearby tree, using it as a springboard to leap onto the Golem's back. The creature thrashed and roared, trying to dislodge him, but David held on, plunging his dagger repeatedly into the Golem's stony hide. With each strike, the Greens Pride dagger absorbed some of the Golem's strength, healing David's wounds.

As the minutes ticked by, the combined efforts of David's team wore the Golem down. The Hellflame continued to sear its body, while Mark, Mike, and Sarah kept it off balance. Finally, with a shuddering groan, the Golem crumbled into a pile of rubble.

Breathing heavily, the team surveyed the aftermath of the battle. Amid the debris, they discovered two ancient runes: one glowing red, the other a brilliant white.

"Looks like our efforts paid off," David said, picking up the runes. "Let's head back to camp and see what these can do."

As they made their way back, Emily and Lisa greeted them at the camp, their expressions a mix of relief and concern. Lisa quickly began administering first aid, her hands glowing softly as she healed their wounds.

"Thanks, Lisa," David said with a grateful smile. He handed her the white rune. "My intuition tells me this one's for you. It might be a healing spell. You should learn it."

Lisa's eyes widened with surprise and gratitude. "Thank you, David. I'll do my best."

As the team settled in for the evening, the air was filled with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation. They had faced a formidable foe and emerged victorious, but they knew there were greater challenges ahead. Each battle was a step closer to uncovering the island's secrets and finding their way home.

The discovery of ancient runes adds another layer of complexity to the island's mystery. Runes are imbued with the essence of various elements and abilities, allowing those who harness their power to perform extraordinary feats. Each rune is characterized by a distinct color, signifying its elemental affinity or purpose:

Red Runes: Fire element, often associated with offensive spells like David's Hellflame. These runes can enhance destructive capabilities and are sought after by those who wield fire magic.

White Runes: Healing or light element, used for restoration and protective spells. These are ideal for characters like Lisa, who aims to increase her healing abilities.

Black Runes: Necromancy or dark magic. These are feared and revered, containing powerful curses or abilities to manipulate life and death.

Blue Runes: Water or ice element, typically used for controlling or manipulating water and ice, often defensive or utility spells.

Yellow Runes: Lightning element, enabling the user to harness electrical power for swift and precise attacks.

Green Runes: Earth element, focusing on nature, growth, and resilience, often used for defensive or enhancing earth-based abilities.

Grey Runes: Wind or air element, providing abilities related to speed, movement, and air manipulation.

Each rune's intensity of glow signifies its rarity and power level. The brighter the glow, the more potent the rune. However, not everyone can utilize these runes:

Attribute Requirements: Each rune has specific attribute requirements. For example, a powerful rune may require a high level of intelligence or strength. If a character's attributes do not meet the minimum requirements, they cannot use the rune.

Elemental Affinity: The runes also align with the user's elemental affinity. Someone proficient in dark magic cannot use a rune associated with light or healing, creating a dichotomy among magic users.

Compatibility: There's a natural compatibility factor where a rune might react differently based on the user's innate potential or previous magical practices.

These conditions make runes a crucial part of the survival strategy on the island. The runes provide a significant edge but also demand careful consideration of each character's strengths, weaknesses, and chosen path of magic or combat.
