CHAPTER 15

Y/N'S POV

The meeting between Nevermore and the normies ended with a victory for ours, just as we had wished. I could see how the club members were trying to get together for a group hug, so I separated from them as quickly as possible and walked over to the bench where Wednesday was sitting. I didn't even know how she had been given permission to be sitting there, only the participants were supposed to be on the track.

-Y/N: Hey - I said sitting down next to her - You've come.

-Wednesday: - she nodded - Enid forced me, well not quite - she stared at me - But lucky I did, you've come close to leaving the family in total humiliation. What was that first pitch? It's been painful.

-Y/N: You're right, even Pugsley would have shot better - I smiled - Do you know one thing? Today, for the first time in a long time, I felt insecure. And when that has happened, memories of our childhood have popped into my head - I looked into her eyes - then you appeared and I was myself again, so... Thanks for coming.

Wednesday didn't say anything, but I could tell by the expression on her face that she was relieved to have come and was happy for our victory. In our family, we have always shown our affection towards others in very extravagant ways... And in that moment, the way Wenny and I shared that moment of silence, I felt as if everything between us had returned to normal. As if the years we had been apart had meant nothing, I felt like I was back with my family.

- Wednesday: The talk we started this morning is not over yet. I hope you are aware of that - she smiled slightly - We have to catch up on what we have been doing these years. You don't know the new methods of torture I have devised against my brother, and that seems to me the greatest crime in history.

-Y/N: Of course, I have to tell you a lot of things too - I smiled.

Our talk ended when the mayor called us to make the trophy presentation. We had to go up to a kind of stage and once the lucky prize was passed to Xavier, we were forced to take a group photograph. It was overwhelming to have so many people jumping and screaming with joy around me, but it didn't seem so much when the one jumping next to me was Enid.

-Enid: The trophy is coming with us - she said shouting - You are amazing, Y/N. Xavier is bursting with happiness!

-Y/N: Yes, although I started off on a very bad foot... - I looked at my deflected arrow stuck in the bullseye - Thanks for bringing Wenny, it has meant a lot to me.

-Enid: Wow, I have a lot of things to comment on what you just said - she put her hands behind her back - What did you call Wedns? "Wenny"? - She let out a giggle - I see that even you can give nicknames...

-Y/N: That's what I called her when we were kids - I looked her in the eyes - If you tease me, I'll cut your tongue - I threatened her.

-Enid: I would never do something like that, silly - she smiled and looked me in the eyes - I knew something was going on between you two because you were very strange... So I got down to work and decided to give you a boost to solve it. I am glad that you are well again now, I like to see you so united.

-Y/N: By the way Enid, changing the subject... I haven't given you the reward for winning the stuffed animal bet yet. Do you know what you're going to torture me with?

-Enid: Yes - she said resolutely - I've been thinking about it and I think I want us to change today's fencing practice for something much more special - she came a little closer to me - There will be a full moon today and I will inevitably transform, so... How about we run away to the forest together? You transform into your kitsune form and I transform into a wolf. Yes?

-Y/N: Do you want me to accompany you during your transformation? - I asked surprised - I thought that was something very intimate and special for lycanthropes.

I was hypnotized, there was no other explanation that justified why my behavior was so inappropriate with the blonde. I was looking at our intertwined pinkies and I didn't feel upset at all, in fact... I enjoyed that gesture, it was something ours, something personal and intimate as she had said. I bit my lips to contain the smile that was starting to form on my face, and thank goodness I did because soon we were interrupted by the inopportune of her boyfriend.

-Ajax: Hi - he smiled - Congratulations on the victory, Y/N. You have been amazing, although watching your training at the academy it was obvious that you were going to win. By the way - he looked at Enid - what did you want to talk to me about?

- Enid: Oh, ah - she looked at me for a few brief seconds - It turns out that the plan we had, I'm going to have to postpone it. Something much more important has come up, I'm sorry - she smiled uncomfortably.

- Ajax: What? We haven't had a date for a long time, I'm going to start thinking that you don't like me anymore - the one with the hat complained - What is that so important that you have to do?

I felt that the conversation of those two was taking a too personal direction to be present there, so I decided to walk away. Or at least that's what I tried, Enid didn't separate her pinky from mine at any time. In fact, the she made the grip more intense and I understood it as a signal for me to stay.

- Enid: Ajax... You know I'm very fond of you, but too much has happened and I don't feel like everything is the same as before.

- Ajax: What do you mean? - he asked confused - Are you breaking up with me?

-Enid: Well - her voice started to shake - Since the hyde incident happened a lot of things have changed in me, and I don't feel the same way anymore. You kiss me but I don't feel anything beyond affection for everything we've been - she sighed - I love you, but I don't do it romantically speaking anymore. So I think I shouldn't keep wasting your time with a relationship that's not going anywhere.

-Ajax: This is freaking me out - he said annoyed - I've tried to be there for you at all times, I've been loving, understanding, patient... I've put up with your crazy roommate for months, and all for nothing - he looked into her eyes - are you sure about what you said?

-Enid: I'm sorry, Ajax - she looked at the floor - I just see it possible that we could be friends.

- Ajax: Fuck Enid... You're asking me for the impossible because I really am in love with you - he sighed and clenched his fists due to frustration - I need time, I don't think I can adapt to the concept of "friend" so easily - he said before leaving.

I stood next to Enid watching as the boy walked away from us while the blonde sighed and began to tremble due to the stress of the situation. She had done it well, I have never thought it was right to force feelings. That's why the Addams were the way we were, loyal and true to ourselves first of all. So I was proud of how brave the wolf had been, I had been noticing her uncomfortable with Ajax for a long time.

- Y/N: Are you okay? - I said watching her.

-Enid: I can't believe I've seriously left him - she looked at me incredulously - I've always been terrified of being alone and not finding my destined partner. For much of my adolescence I have thought that person was Ajax, and now I go and leave him... Oh, God! What if I've made a mistake? What if no one loves me again? - she said in a panic.

-Y/N: Enid, I think you've made the right decision - I smiled at her - Feelings can't be forced, if you don't like it, you don't like it. Don't give it any more thoughts, that doesn't mean that you don't love him or that you don't value him.

-Enid: - she stopped moving to look me in the eyes - You're right, feelings can't be forced. You can't make them appear, and you can't make them go away either - she said looking me up and down.
