Under The Night Sky*

Now that the group had rendezvoused, they traveled back to headquarters together. There was a nice period of stillness as nobody planned to accept any missions. Muzette awaited them at the estate with Fuzzy sprinting around the meadow. The fox was excited to see them.

Shu hadn't interacted with the mystical beast that much. Besides his first time cleaning her litter, there was no time spent together. Because of this, the curious fox trotted over to the lazy swordsman. It was still a mystery as to how she hadn't gained the ability to speak yet. Maybe it wasn't a pure bloodline?

The nine tailed fox cautiously smelled his scent. She then rubbed her large body against his torso. Shu almost fell backward from the weight. A few seconds later, he finally lost his footing. Fuzzy licked his face multiple times.

"I think she likes you!" Muzette exclaimed.

Stark ignored the scene and walked through the entrance. He was craving some alcohol. The succubus knew his intent and smiled.

"Stark ~ I restocked the fridge. Aiden gave me some of the good stuff. Top shelf!" She announced.

The large man's face lit up. Without wasting any more time, he walked even faster toward the living room. Shu was still on the grass. Fuzzy hadn't let up for a second, and the young samurai covered his face with his arms. He was stuck.

"Alright! No more!" Shu exclaimed. He was covered in drool.

At that moment, thick killing intent flooded the peaceful area. The fox jolted in surprise. She hopped off the sleepy man and hid behind the succubus. Rin could be seen beside the defeated Shu, a deadly expression on her face.

"Pffft! Fufufu!" Muzette suppressed a giggle. Who would've thought! The snow demon was jealous of a fox!

Rin firmly grasped the samurai's arm and dragged him into the estate. Shu's body was like a rag doll as he was pulled inside. It was unknown what the yokai was going to do to him.

It was safe to say that the snow demon got her petty revenge. Shu laid in his bed defeated, a different source of drool now covering his body. Rin had made him wash up before marking him as her territory once more. She had treated the sleepy man like a popsicle.

Days went by as the battalion relaxed. The seasons were changing, summer giving way to fall. Shu didn't take on any more requests for the time being. He had a feeling that something would be different. It was best to stay cautious. The Althana had finally made their presence known to him.

"What are you scoffing for?" Shu asked. Rin only stared at him, her gaze burning a hole through his face.

The two rookies could be found at the bottom of the nearby river. Shu had taken a small boat from the shed. It had traveled along the current, allowing them to enjoy the forest in its entirety. The boat now floated in the middle of a large pond, beautiful lotus flowers covering the entire area.

Shu was lying down on his back while the petite beauty sat on top of him. He was her own personal chair at the moment. Rin had blocked his view of the sky. Both of them were sporting casual wear.

"Hmph." She grunted once more. The young samurai rolled his eyes.

"...I can't read minds. Are you going to leave me in the dark?"

A victorious smile finally graced her lips. She leaned down toward his ear. Her breath tickled his skin.

"In the end, you belong to me. Hmph. A Legendary potential." She whispered.

"Ah…so you're happy? It didn't sound like it."

"Hmph. Mine! I'll kill you if you stray too far from me." She hummed before nibbling on his neck.

"YOU are the one who shouldn't stray from ME." He retorted.

His arms wrapped around her frame, forcing her to lie down on top of him. They locked eyes once more. If there was one thing they did constantly, it was stare. Her purple eyes looked into his bright silver ones.

Both of their lips met. Rin was now addicted to their kisses. Whenever they were alone, it wouldn't take long for things to get heated. Shu tasted every part of her little mouth. He eventually rolled over, changing their positions. He was now looming over her.

"Rin, I think you deserve to know at this point."

The iridescent ring appeared in his pupils. His fangs grew longer, and two thin horns protruded from his head. The tips of his horns glowed with a white radiance. Shu smiled while looking down at her surprised face. Her eyes were wide.

"You…what are you?"

"My lineage could be said to be a mix of vampires, oni, demons, and something else. It would be safer to call me a demon. I'm one of a kind."

"One of a kind…How?" She asked. The young samurai leaned toward her ear, copying her actions.

"What kind of demon do you know that can harness light energy? I'm a light demon. Not only can I harness it, the light is my sustenance. I devour it passively." He whispered.

"Light demon…Hikarimono?!" Rin finally understood.

"Indeed. Has the way you see me changed now?" He questioned.

The snow demon cupped his cheeks with both hands. She couldn't help but kiss him. Upon pulling back, she spoke.

"No…Hmph. You just went from a stinky man to a stinky demon man. I still won't let anyone else have you." She hummed.

"How possessive…" He muttered in response.

This was why he liked her so much. All that mattered to her was him. There was no mental gymnastics. It was a primal connection that they shared. Like two wolves.
