He looked at his Mother who was crying in front of him. Then, with the courage in his heart that he mustered up, he said.
"Mother, Will father be okay if we leave him behind? I am worried about him."
His mother then went beside him and hugged him tight while kissing his forehead. While she was kissing his forehead, she was saying with a soft tone.
"I will be here. I will stay by your side darling don't worry. We can do this. Your father will be safe."
Because he was too young, he did not understand what was happening. All he knew was that they were playing and heading back to their grandparents in a small town south of the castle.

2 hours have passed since they left Cartier Castle. They entered the highway through the plain fields of Gerona. Near the town of Sarcosa, south of the Cartier Castle. While they were traveling, they saw many people walking against them.
"What is happening? Why are they walking away?"
Her thoughts while seeing the people leaving with their possession. Somewhere covered in blood and some were not. Then a guardsman from Sarcosa town stopped the carriage. He raises his sword, and the driver pulls the leash.
"Why are you stopping this carriage don't you know that this carriage is from a noble family!?"
With an authoritative voice, the driver said, while gripping the leash of the sword. Then the guardsman, with a low tone of voice, lowers his sword. And raised his head and said.
"The town you are going to has already been burned to the ground and ravage. By the cleansing brigade of the Emperor when they know that the Cartier Castle has changed faction and joined the traitors. If you go further up the plains, you will see dead bodies."
The driver is shocked to hear that, after the guardsmen said that he goes with the people and continues to walk. Meanwhile, the driver goes inside of the carriage. And said with a voice that was stuttering because he too got scared.
"My lady, we cannot go further down this road because those men will find out who you are. It is better to join the people who are going to the northern town of Maeri where your grandfather is living."
The lady looks down at her lap while looking at her son, who is sleeping.
"If that is going to happen, then I need a dress that is not like this. Because I, too, prefer that changing into ordinary dress will be helpful. Because if I join them with a dress like this I will be sore thumb."
Then the driver put his clenched fist to his chest and bowed. Then said in his low tone of voice.
"I know a small place where we can buy a dress in exchange with yours, my lady. And from there we can walk to Maeri Town and live with a normal name and a life. But I need to return to the castle and serve the Lord."
The lady nods while she holds the hand of James, while he is sleeping on her lap. The carriage once again moves towards a known tailor near the woods.

"We are going into defense, so there are the remaining 1300 people that can-"
The commanders heard a knock on the door and that is why the 2nd commander stopped from replying to Commander Gerardson. Their attention went to the messenger that had entered. The messenger looks at everyone with a serious face.
He kneels down to the lord and raises his head. Before saying with a straightforward tone.
"My Lord, Sarcosa town has been razed. Because they have received information that our castle has changed and because they don't want people who serve the wrong lord. They kill innocent civilians. That is why there is a flood of people that will fight and help within our castle."
Baron Roswald looks at his commander with a worried face. Because, as of the moment, they too don't have sufficient weapons. That could equip even if they want to increase the men that will resist and fight.
The Baron ordered the messenger.
"Thank you messenger, you may leave the room."
The messenger leaves the room and then walks back to the messenger post. Then all the officers look at the map. The room went silent. All the officers with the brightest minds of the Baron are now thinking and planning on is their next step.
"My Lord, we can distribute the locals into guerilla forces by attacking and harassing the enemy until they reach the Cartier castle. These people are those who will receive training as commando and learn the tactics under the supervision of Commander Feld of the 2nd squad."
One commander suggested while looking at the Baron. While the others took that into account that they needed to get a small force to keep the enemy force busy. It will be a fight of attrition for them.
"We also need to be self reliant. We need to store more food and food for the soldiers to keep their morale high. The resources in producing ammunition."
The other commanders started having arguments because of their tactics. On who is better and what is more appropriate? But they all have a common denominator. The Cartier castle will still fall to the hands of the tyrannical emperor.
"We are going to fight and that is final. For those people who wanted to be a part of the guerilla let them join. But we won't be hiring any primary force. Because we also don't have enough money to pay for their families."
The Baron said with his words of disappointment about why something like this happened. There was an ache inside of his heart. He had changed the ache of pain. Because he did not use the power he has when he was still in the court of the previous emperor.

Aide-de-camp Julius returns to his Duke Warlord Mansion. With a shameful face and embarrassed because he could not do what his Duke Warlord had ordered him to do. He kneels in front of Duke Warlord Shelby Von Maranon.
"My Duke, please forgive my insubordination as of this time. But the grasp of the Emperor has already stretched even to the messenger post's chief being killed. Because they said that the chief was part of the traitors that wanted the emperor dead."
The Duke Warlord turns around and looks at the far wide garden.
"Well then, we need to prepare our men because we are going to head to the border castle. I have something in mind that will surely disrupt this unsettling feeling that I have."
He turns around and looks at his Aide-de-camp when he says those words. And then he sits down in the chair that was in front of them.
"Assemble the 12th Battalion and the 2nd Division heavy knights. We are going to war with some Demi humans."
The Aide-de-camp salutes the Duke Warlord and walks out of the room. He did not say a word. Because the order of the Duke warlord is always absolute. Juliu walks to his horse where he gets on the saddle and trots it forward near a barracks that the Duke warlord owns.

He arrived at the Longmoors Barracks south of the Mansion of Duke Warlord Maranon. The barracks house the commander of the 12th Battalion and the 2nd Division. He quickly gets off his horse and grabs the leash.
"I never expect that this building will house the officers who have many people under them. It is a simple barracks, but it has a strategic point of advantage. Some say this was the previous headquarters of the military high command before they changed it inside of the grand palace."
The building of Longmoors has 4 floors and a few windows per office. Because it has a strategic point advantage, there are other commanders from different units posted there for quick deployment.
