Sabotage commence (2)

The driver of the carriage arrived at the castle, his sweat dripping from his face. The carriage stopped in front of the entrance of the castle. And the guards quickly grabbed the leash of the horse. The driver gets off the carriage and heads inside of the castle. He looked at the guard and said,

"Park the carriage at the stable, and wait for my Richard, remember wait for me before anyone could borrow that carriage"

The guard replies with a calm tone of voice.

"Yes, Sir."

Because the guards have known him already and to some guards he is closed with, so they let him in without identification. The door of the high command meeting office was where the Baron was. He knocks on the door and he hears a voice that is commanding to go inside. He enters the office and sees a lot of commanders summoned.

"My Lord, I am here to report that I have safely, and successfully, dropped off the lady and the heir to the Bismark clan where the Lady parents are located. This is because the enemy army has razed the place that you prepared for them."

The Baron clenches his fist, because of the unethical use of force against people who cannot fight for themselves.

"Well, as for you. Leon, you are ordered by me, the Baron, to safeguard and secure my family. So I am ordering you to go back to the village where my grandfather lives. And be their personal guard."

Leon kneels and puts his clenched fist on his chest. Then bows his head, after that he raises his head, looking directly at the Baron. And with his humble reply, he said.

"In your command, my lord. I shall do what I must protect the young Lord. Even if it cost my life. I will protect him and that is the duty that I must fulfill till my last breath. I am Leon Riverdale, taking the oath of my knighthood to the Baron."

After that oath, Leo walks out of the office of the high command and heads down to the stairs. While he was heading out, he saw a lot of officers that were rushing to the office. After walking out of the castle, he heads to the stable where his horse is located.

"Richard!"

He calls for the knight that was guarding the stable.

"Yes, Sir?"

The knight walks out from the small cottage near the stable. The knight was holding the scabbard of his sword.

"You are coming with me to a village and we are going to protect the young Lord."

Leon said while looking at the knight, who seemed hesitant from that offer. That is because that knight's only task is to guard the stable and if he leaves his post, there could be consequences.

"Forgive me Sir. but I am posted here. If I leave this place, my family will go hungry."

Then Leo replies to what the knight has said. Even though he got disappointed by the decision of the knight. He shakes it off and waits for his horse to arrive, which was being pulled by the knight.

He grabs the leash of the horse and gets on it. And trot after that, he heads back to the village.

The following day, the enemy army that was stationed north of the Cartier Castle received a lot of losses because of the constant attack from the Baron. Inside the camp of the enemy army, they are in a constant watch for such sneak attacks conducted by the commandos.

"How come a countryside noble can delay us?! I just cannot believe it. We are from the army of the capital, the army that is grown to defeat these provincial nobles with a flick of our fingers. Then why are we here stationed in this damn tent when we are supposed to be celebrating inside of a castle?!"

The Duke Warlord is having a rough time taking all the information. That they have lost a couple of regiments because of the attack. Added to the low morale because of the destroyed supplies. Then the supply line is still not accessible because there are constant attacks.

"My Lord, we are planning to move in and attack the castle. Some officers here agree. That we still have 1 more day of supply and the army can still move. We can catch them by surprise if we move now, my Lord."

One officer said, coming from the left-hand officer of the Duke Warlord. Meanwhile, the right hand officers disagree with the proposal of the left officers.

"If we do that kind of strategy, we are going to lose a lot of men. Right now they are low on morale because of the constant attacks from guerillas. We need supplies that could stabilize the downfall of morale. What is the use of a large force if one shot an enemy gun and they could run for their lives?"

The Duke warlord sits on his chair while looking at each of the officers he has. At the same time playing with his beard that he also holds dearly.

"By tomorrow, I will give my order. But for now, I want all forces to focus on guard duties. I don't want another attack from the enemy to come by now; it will be worrisome for all of us."

Deep in the forest camp of the commandos, the captain has looked into their losses. He looked at the squad leader of A and asked.

"I am afraid, sir, that we need to join forces with the B Squad for us to perform with our proficiency because we lost a lot of men when we attacked last night. Most of the sharpshooters have died trying to fight against enemy sharpshooters. We believe their rifle is superior to the one we are using. That is why there is a gap."

The captain leaned on his table while looking at the B Squad leader. That is sitting in front of him. The B squad leader looks down at the ground. The squad leader of A is detailing the things they need.

While the squad leader of A earlier is talking about what they need. The B squad leader has already had flashbacks of losing 20 men under him in the entire 2 days of attacks against the enemy army.

"Sir, we really need good plans for our next battle. Even the other squad has also taken losses. We could not be doing suicidal attacks or we are going to lose more people. And Sir adding that you wanted to recruit new people into the commandos. It needs them to learn for 6 months before they can fully adapt. That is why my choice is that we, the B squad, agree that the squad A join us. Naming as AB squad."

The commando captain crosses his arms while listening to the B squad leader. Then he looked at the other 6 squads that were at the back, listening to the first two.

"Sir, we agree that those squads that need people are to join the other squads."

The C squad leader said while he played with his knife. And the D Squad leader 2nd motioned this because the two of them will join as the CD squad.

"If that is the case, we are going to have our next raid tonight. We are going to strike the enemy storage that they have. According to the intelligence of the scouts, it's located here."

The commando captain gets the map and lays it in front of the squad leaders. And points it on the map.
