Chapter 4

In the small room, the red haired boy could be seen on the floor doing push-ups. His body slowly but carefully rose and fell with each set.

'How long has it been?' Kaito wondered as his eyes managed to look around the room. There were strips of paper with writings and markings on them littered around the room.

He had been studying the fuinjutsu scroll ever since it was given to him. Reluctant as he was, he couldn't describe the excitement in his body as he perused the art of sealing.

It had so many uses and applications that he wondered why the academy didn't have it as an optional study for those interested.

It wasn't long into his study that he found something that would help his 'predicament' of a lack of physical training.

It took a few tries but he figured out how to put together a weighting seal. [Fuinjutsu] could be used to restrict movement and what better method of training was there for someone with a system.

He had of course finalized the seal on one of the slips of paper before he applied it to his clothes. Though they fed him everyday, they hadn't seen it fit to give him a shower or more clothes so he didn't want to ruin the pair he had.

Though it looked impressive at first glance, he was very aware that it wasn't anything compared to the physical abilities of a ninja.

He had also figured out a method to keep track of time. Assuming the times they brought him food were morning and night, he'd been here for about three weeks, give or take a few days.

Those were only assumptions but it made him question the difficulty in leveling up [Fuinjutsu].

A type of jutsu that seals objects, living beings, chakra, along with a wide variety of other things within another object. Fūinjutsu can also be used to restrict movement or unseal objects either from within something or someone.

If three weeks had truly passed, then his leveling speed for the skill was terrible. He was also aware that [Fuinjutsu] was a skill that took years to learn, let alone master.

What made him even more troubled was what he had discovered not long after he started leveling up the skill.

Even with the 150% increase in EXP, it was still slow. He was slightly appalled at that discovery.

Part of the perk had revealed himself which gave him a 90% confirmation of something he had long since suspected.

Red hair, increased chakra and vitality levels and lastly, an aptitude for sealing…all of it screamed Uzumaki but the system had yet to remove the '???' which made him question it.

There was a possibility that it would only reveal itself if he had solid proof but that was the furthest thing from his mind at the moment. As long as it gave him the bonus, he was down with ignoring it for now.

Though, it often made him wonder who his parents were or whether he was just a lab grown individual.

Danzo had personally made an appearance once in a while to check on his progress. Kaito didn't know how it was possible for his dislike for the man to grow each time he made an appearance with the smug twitch in his expression.

'I want to get out of here…or at least take a bath.' He thought exasperatedly.

The boy was coming along splendidly. If he continued at this pace, he could confidently say that he was a greater success than Kinoe.

The boy's mind was brilliant, being able to quickly dissect and dismantle the seals he went along with to test his progress in the sealing arts. Even he himself didn't make this kind of progress for months if not a year or two.

'Perhaps it's time to take it up a notch.' The man wondered before pausing his thought. "What is it, Kinoto?" He asked suddenly.

One of his ANBU dropped down in front of him, taking a knee. "Lord Danzo, the nine tails jinchuriki has returned with Jiraiya the Sannin."

There was a minute of silence as Danzo's eyes narrowed slightly. "I see. You're dismissed."

The ninja immediately made himself scarce in a body flicker.

There was no doubt that the nine tails container had grown stronger under the tutelage of Jiraiya. He thought he had a bit more time to set things up but it seemed that he had to speed it up.

"Mizunoe." Danzo called out as another figure made itself known in front of him. "You know what to do."

He found himself being led out of the room by the ninja who was tasked with his affairs. As he walked through the base, he looked around, taking note of anything important or distinct.

Confusion was an understatement for what he was feeling at the moment. He was sure that he hadn't done anything to earn suspicion.

The root ninja led him to a dark part of the base. '80% of this place is just covered in shadows. Can't they at least get proper lighting.' He complained internally but didn't let his thoughts be known.

Very soon he found himself in front of a room, if it could be called that. As the door opened, he could only narrow his eyes at the cells to his left and right.

'This is a prison.' He realized, as they walked towards the far end of the room to find Danzo waiting for them.

The man subtly nodded to the ninja who simply stepped back. "Kanoe, come." He ordered the boy who walked to stand in front of him before gesturing to the cell beside them.

Unlike the other ones, this one had two people bound and seated opposite each other, no doubt prepared by Danzo before they arrived.

"These two are ninjas sent by Iwa. They snuck in with the intention of getting information about any of Konoha's weaknesses." The man started as a feeling of dread filled Kaito for a moment as he realized what was going on.

"We've gotten what we need from them so they have lost their usefulness. As a ninja of Konoha, you know what must be done…kill them." A kunai made its way into Danzo's hand, handing it to the boy who took it carefully.

He didn't know whether to laugh or be exasperated at the situation. To Danzo and the rest of root, he was an infant when it came to morals and decisions. He was a blank slate for Danzo to mold however he saw fit.

Even the books that they had provided for him pointed towards Danzo's line of thinking. They were trying to condition him to the perfect tool who would obey any order no matter how 'evil' it was.

What they weren't aware of was that bringing him here to kill them 'for Konoha' was essentially the same as giving him a gift. 'He said they were ninjas…' Kaito thought as he silently walked forward to the first man whose mouth, hands and legs were bound to the chair he was seated on.

He even spotted a chakra suppression seal on him. As the man glared hatefully at him, Kaito simply stared back, gripping the kunai firmly as he stabbed it into his throat.

As the blood splashed, he saw the light leaving the man's eyes until he no longer drew breath.

His sight was immediately assaulted with level up notifications that he quickly lost count of, mentally dismissing it.

He paused for a moment, not feeling any disgust or self loathing at the fact that he had just taken a man's life. '[Gamer Mind] is a dangerous perk.' He realized as he moved to the other man whose eyes hadn't left his dead comrade.

As he turned to Kaito, the boy was quick to slash the weapon against his throat. Due to his lack of training on using such tools, the cut was rough but did the job as the man died quickly.

Once again, his vision was filled with level up notifications which he dismissed.

"Well done Kanoe. You have proven that you are indeed a proper ninja. Remember, everything we do, we do the benefit of Konoha." Danzo said, carefully scrutinizing the boy in front of him.

"Yes, lord Danzo." Kaito said, showing no hint of his thoughts.

If Kaito didn't know better, he'd have thought that Danzo looked a bit smug at the moment. He could only feel amused at the man's ignorance of what he had just given him.

With Danzo leading them, they exited the prison. "Kanoe, from what I've observed, you have a gift for Fuinjutsu. That gift is precisely why I have chosen you for this task." He said, not breaking stride.

"Task?" Kaito echoed in confusion.

"I'm sure you've read about the tailed beasts." Danzo started, getting a nod from Kaito. "Konoha is in possession of the nine tails but due to Tsunade's foolishness and the third Hokage's naïvity, its power is being wasted on a foolish brat." A sneer emerged on the man's face before he wiped it off.

"Tsunade refuses to control the nine tails like it is supposed to be, letting the brat run around as he pleases. The fourth hokage was able to fight the nine tails due to his knowledge of fuinjutsu and a certain jutsu."

Kaito's eyes widened imperceptibly as he realized where this was leading to. Why Danzo had him only focus on Fuinjutsu rather than physical training.

"With what you've shown me so far, I have no doubt that you will surpass his level of skill in fuinjutsu. All that is left is for you to learn that certain jutsu." Danzo said as he fished out a scroll from his robe.

"Starting tomorrow, Mizunoe will be in charge of your training. When you are not training with him, I expect you to learn and master the jutsu within this scroll. Kanoe…" Danzo tossed the scroll to Kaito who caught it quickly, a screen popping up in front of his eyes.

"You are tasked with the duty of capturing and subduing the nine tails jinchuriki." Danzo ordered as Kaito comprehended the screen in front of his eyes.
