The Otherside

"Get the housing repaired,"

"Madam we need more resources, I suggest mining,"

Allie sighed. She had to deal with this uncomfortable situation. She wanted to do more, but she only had so much. The soldiers were loyal, but they needed to be fed at the very least. Minerals were being mined, but it was inefficient. Everything was bottlenecking as she had many mechanics fine tuning the ship, but little throughput of minerals. She sighed again and went to practice the magic book the system gave to her as a reward.

On another side of the galaxy a man stood inside of a city. The planet was his domain. His foundation. However he felt so slow.

"Sir, we need more men to finish the space port," the advisor said.

"Why can't we draft men from the populace?"

The man asked.

"It is because Sir. Peter that the local community leaders refuse to build it saying it is against the agrarian style. This unfortunate Overlord was on the planet David had chosen in his last life. David had solved this problem by convincing the populace that the port was for trade to sell their food for a higher price so they could make more money. However this required charisma, and knowledge. The man could only concentrate as he thought of his own solution. "Tell the leaders to come to my palace for a dinner," Peter finally said. The next day, the leaders were a bit tired, and were a bit green. Peter smiled at the problem solved as he had put mind control shrooms into them in order to solve his problem. The backlash would come, but for now all was well.

David was watching the live feed from his goggles. He finally saw a small squad of them guarding a tunnel that led out of the mining struts. That was there home tunnel the bots had dug into. David knew he had to solve this quick. The giant ants would tear apart his mechs like cheese. However, he had an idea. If he could control the queen ant, he would have a colony of soldier ants and worker ants for free labor. Then the mechs could all become construction to create his first ring on the mothership. David was now alone with three mechs as they approached the darkness. As they got close David told the mechs to stand guard and went forward after selling almost all of his stockpile. He got around 600 points. He spent 500 on the slave collar. It was tough to break, but its cyber defender was horrible. Not a problem when the only threats were indigenous species. David then bought a spray with the rest of his points. It would camouflage him as he ran into the nest. Ten minutes was all David had as he ran and ran. He couldn't find it as he went up and down, and in circles. He was passing numerous ants, and he had to finish this up before his spray ran out. He then spotted a worker carrying larvae and started to follow it. The larvae was deposited into a room full of them, along with dozens of other eggs. The worker was heading back with no queen in site. David only had a couple minutes as he jogged behind the oversized ant. He had many close calls in those seconds as he dodged more and more ants. Finally he reached the queen, except his spray only had ten seconds left. He sprinted, because death was permanent. He was taking a huge gamble, but it had to work. 8,7,6,5,5,4,3

David was within two meters of the queen with the collar. All he had to so was jump. All the sudden, every ant in the surrounding. area turned towards David. The soldiers started to rush towards David as they tried to protect the queen. The queen brandished her claws as she swiped towards David.

"Is this how I die?" David murmured to himself. He got a second chance, yet failed his first test already. He was inching closer and closer.

"I can't lose when I'm so close!" David shouted, "Especially when I had to come back in time for this,"

All the sudden, time slowed down. David could hear his individual heart beats like gentle tappings of a drum.

[Achievement get First Mage of Time]

David paid no attention as he focused on dispersing his energy into a circular orb that was green. It slowed down everything within its radius as he clamped down the slave collar onto the queen ant.

"Tell All Soldier Ants to stand down!" David yelled at the queen.

"By your command," the queen replied as the soldier ants went quiet and back to patrolling the chambers.

David just sat there exhausted and breathing heavily. That usage of his magic powers was draining even if it was only for a couple of seconds.
