Chapter 147 - The War On Heaven Part 1

Location: Divine Realm, Sanctuary

Time: ???

"What do you mean one of the worlds has been razed to the ground?!"

A booming voice filled with rage exploded and echoed across the realm. From the other Divines to the Angels from the highest to the lowest rank.

"Calm your rage, it's not the fault of the Angels that failed to warn us. But it's because our enemy struck us so fast and suddenly, none of us could react."

"Indeed. As Bodhisattva said, the invader is simply too vicious. The entire world was exterminated and not even the souls were spared as our believers were devoured by the fiend." The Egyptian looking god with the headpiece of a jackal exclaimed while seething in anger.

"This is… a predicament." The god of a burning flame in the shape of a man and six golden eyes with a halo of a sun disk, said before looking to the other god next to him, which is an octopus-like god with many eyes and muttering words in an incomprehensible tongue.

"What are the invaders doing right now?" The god with long and lustrous white hair and beard like a mane wearing a white toga, turns to the golden armored figure with wings, the angels and asks his question.

"After invading the first world, they split into 12 invading forces and spread across other domains. 8 more worlds had fallen into their hands in similar manners, all believers were slaughtered, souls devoured and the world stripped of resources to bolster their forces. Us Angels had tried to fend off the invaders however, our enemy possessed strange power and was very difficult to fight against." The leader of the Angel reported and then showed the recording of the few battles that show the Mechanical Quincy fighting off the Angels.

Because the Mechanical Quincy had no need to worry about preserving their surroundings, they fought fiercely without worry about repercussions. While the Angels are trying to save the human, the Soldats lead by their Sternritters counterpart stall those Angels while the clean up force consists of the Mech Army, TSF and BETAs slaughter the population for the Soldats and Sternritters to use Sklaverei to strip apart those souls for their Reishi and boost their power proportional to the soul they devoured.

After those worlds are wiped out of all humans, the BETA will strip down the world for resources to resupply the fleets with material and replenish their forces until the world is bare of resources. This leaves the world broken beyond saving just in case the gods want to try to repopulate the world. Truly a scorched earth tactic.

Hearing this, the god became enraged and slammed his fist on the hand rest of his throne before he exhaled and sigh.

"Since the Angels cannot do anything against our adversary, we must interfere ourselves or we will risk losing all of our believers." The god in white toga said.

"While interfering with the world is against the covenant that we all vowed upon. We can all agree this case is an exception." The buddha-like god declared.

"However, we cannot leave the heart of our domain without protection. I had a feeling that the attacks might have been an attempt to lure us out from the Sanctuary and weaken its protection." The god in white toga said after using his power to pry for a divine insight.

"Fine… I will go." The burning god said.

"Helios is the best choice. Fine, you shall go along with a legion of Angels." The god in white toga nodded and issued his order to the Angels which immediately assembled and ready to depart with Helios, the God of Sun.

Location: Supreme God Temple Inner Sanctum, ???

Time: ???

A large group of clergymen, nun, priest, bishop to the pope. All of them gathered in the deepest, most secretive and defensive location in the entire world, a domain blessed by the host of gods themselves that the people worshiped.

All of them gathered and prayed fervently on their knees with their most sincere prayers they could ever prayed in their lifetime.

*Boom!*

The chamber suddenly shooked an rattled as an explosion went off somewhere and impacted the building. The people who were praying immediately shivered and some even broke down due to terror and piling stress.

Not even a day ago, they were living their lives as they would normally. Busy with their religious duty and lifestyle. But a disaster suddenly strikes. A pillar of light descended from the sky marks the beginning of the end for all, followed by objects that rain down from the sky that spawn devils that indiscriminately hunt down and kill everything without distraction whether you are young or old, everyone will be slaughtered.

The people in the temple were lucky as they were protected from the barrier placed around the temple which is created from the power of god. The Paladins and Holy Knights resisted the enemies while people were taking refuge inside the temple. However, they all know the barrier alone isn't enough, thus the pope organized all his members of the temple to pray for a miracle from the Divines.

Thus, a miracle they get.

The inner sanctum suddenly brightened up as sacred fire appeared around the room bathing the people with warm heat, reminiscing that of a soft glow from a morning sun instead of the scorching one that you would expect from a blazing flame.

"Worry not, my pious believers… your prayer has been answered… your faith will be rewarded." A voice echoes the chamber before the flame congregates and flies out from the temple, gathering and absorbing the other smaller flame flying towards it until it becomes big enough to form a golden sun disk which forms the image of a mighty man from the flame itself into the incarnation of the God of Sun Helios.

Helios manipulate the sun disk to fly high into the sky and transform the hole in the middle into a lense that concentrates and shoots down multiple beams of light as bombardments which further split into smaller and smaller homing laser beams that cut anything in its path with heat from the beams.

While the people are cheering at Helios for killing those mechs, the god itself knew those mechs weren't the real opponent he needed to worry about. It's the white one with bluish wings that it needs to worry about.

Helios continue to fight and kill thousands upon thousands of those mechanical beings. But for each that it killed, more appeared and marched upon its position, raining hail of bullets and beams at the god for naught. At least, that is what the god thought. Unaware of the reason until it was too late.

Helios look up at the sky, sensing something off above it. When it realized what was happening, it hastily moved its sun disk above it to form a shield to protect itself and the temple that serves as its anchor to the material realm and the conduit that gathers its faith. Without it, Helios will be severely weakened and more costly to manifest and that is precisely the target. However, Helios' attempts to stop it are just like a mantis trying to stop a chariot.

The gigantic Orbital Fortress plunged down from the sky and when Helios tried to attack in order to destroy the Orbital Fortress before it could land, its beam hit the Gravitational Field surrounding the Orbital Fortress and the forcefield tried to soak up the attack but failed as the beam pierced through the forcefield and penetrated the Orbital Fortress. However, the beam was incapable of destroying the Orbital Fortress which is created to take even greater punishment than mere beam of concentrated heat rays the god thought were powerful enough to take down a fortress created for Interstellar Warfare in mind.

Helios watched in disbelief and helplessness as the object continued to fall above the temple it was desperately trying to protect. But it was all in vain. The Orbital Fortress landed directly above the temple, crushing the barrier that protects it with the sheer kinetic force it carries and continuing to destroy everything in approximately a hundred kilometers radius from its landing site. As if that isn't enough, the bud-shaped Orbital Fortress then bloomed to reveal it's four petal shaped platforms filled with hundreds to thousands of beam cannons to railgun and missiles silos that turn its immediate surrounding into a kill zone.

The surviving legion of armored Angels that was previously helping the local population to resist the clean up force, was immediately slaughtered and exterminated not even one intact corpse can be found.

While the loss of the clean up force is unfortunate, the 3D Printers onboard the Orbital Fortress had already started to replace the loss units with the material the BETAs stripped from other decimated worlds for the invasion to continue at full strength without any hindrance to its progress.

———

Location: Orbital Fortress Fleet's Flagship, Command Room.

Time: 1 week into the Invasion.

"Forgive me for my interruption, Master. But a report just arrived from Orbital Fortress No. 4 to report about their progress."

Adam, who is sitting on the commander's seat and taking a nap with his head resting on his propped arm, suddenly stirred awake and revealed his bloodshot eyes before he tried to massage his weary pairs of eyes and read the report from the Orbital Fortress commanded by Nagato.

Among all other Orbital Fortress, the fourth one commanded by Nagato had been a little too fierce with their advance. Perhaps their lack of reluctance to slaughter the innocent were to be blamed as even those who initially pledge their loyalty to his cause, they were the normal ones to show at least some resistance towards slaughtering innocent people even if it's in the name of depriving their enemy of their own strength and resources.

As to date, after a week into this genocide. Only nine, ten if added, the latest one of the hundreds of worlds under the control of the gods, had been destroyed utterly without any hope of rebuilding. Three of the worlds were destroyed by the Orbital Fortress under his command, another four by Nagato and the remaining three by Enterprise, Queen Elizabeth and Sovetskaya Rossiya.

Some are still fighting the initial world they invaded. Not that Adam accuses them of laziness or reluctance to fight as some worlds do offer very strong resistance and the gods are not to be trifled with as they carry the firepower equivalent to a nuclear bomb that can be used repeatedly and infinitely refilled as long as the anchor for them to manifest in the material world still intact and there is steady number of faith keep energizing them.

"Hmn, they sustained damage but deemed negligible and they are enroute to provide assistance to Orbital Fortress No. 6 after recuperating their lost units."

"Also, Sun God Helios appeared and was swiftly defeated by plunging the Orbital Fortress directly at its summoning anchor…" Adam had to widen his eyes and re-read the paragraph to make sure he didn't read it wrongly.

"May I, Master?" Angie said and offered to show a recording from a ground unit that happened to record the brief battle that took place where Helios was swiftly defeated.

Adam nodded and gave the green light before the recording was played. He saw how Helios slaughtered the ground unit before a moment after, he saw the cloud parted and the Orbital Fortress already plunging from the sky with its thruster at full capacity, helping it to plunge at full speed and turn Helios into nothing but a stain probably. The god wasn't even slaughtered like livestock. But it was treated as nothing more than an annoying bug that got smacked to death.

"Thankfully the beam narrowly avoided the Engine Room and other critical infrastructure." Angie added which Adam sighed but said nothing to discourage their effort after all it's to his benefit.

"Allocate them the necessary shipment of materials. To recuperate their damage and loss. If there is anything else they need, you can approve it without bringing it up to me anymore."

Angie nodded before Adam laid his body against his seat and rested once again.

While to destroy the worlds and deprive the gods and Deus X of the Faith they so desperately needed might seem to be Adam's main objectives. It actually isn't. At least, not anymore after he learned there are hundreds if not thousands of such worlds existing and to destroy each and everyone of them will cost Adam a lengthy and costly campaign across the multiverse.

So, his objectives change in light of the discovery of these new intels.

Adam discovered that not all the world is the same. He didn't mean it in a literal sense. But in the context that not all worlds have the same amount of believers and each believer generates different amounts of Faith too. So, Adam narrowed down his target to worlds that generated the most amount of Faith, critical worlds that the gods will desperately defend because those worlds are equivalent to goldmines for them.

But, it didn't come without its fair share of problems too because worlds that generate the most amount of Faith are worlds that are constantly embroiled in conflict as wars and suffering in general is the best medium to cultivate Faith apparently.

Those worlds that is constantly at war have a greater resistance and some are difficult for one Orbital Fortress alone to overwhelm as each world has their own speciality. Some are fantasy themed, some might be futuristic, their weapon, technology tree, culture, etc is different and some are strong enough to bring upon a week long statement even with weapons such as Orbital Fortress that can launch powerful laser bombardment from orbit.

Thus, the Mechanical Quincy Soldiers are turned into something akin to a Shock Troops, to deliver decisive strikes in the enemy's defense to bring them down. But mostly, their jobs had been to deal with the pesky Angels sent by the Divine Realm to coordinate the local population and increase their morale.
