Chapter Forty-Three

Third Person's POV

Khalid didn't know to respond to what he had just heard. He was well aware that Blair had gone through some major shit back in Nigeria, but had no idea she had lost her dad. He sat there for about 5 minutes just looking, not knowing what to say. Blair had somehow crawled her way up into his heart, so the fact that he didn't know how to comfort her made him feel horrible.

Blair didn't know how he was taking the news she had just dumped on him. She already knew she was some sort of burden to him and felt like this news would make him think of her as an even greater burden. She observed the look on his face, but he gave nothing away. The look on his face was almost blank and his eyes weren't any different.

"If you don't mind me asking, how did he die?" Khalid finally spoke up.

"His wife killed him." Blair replied blankly.

"Your mom?" Khalid was beyond shocked, but he knew better than to show it. He couldn't even imagine the kind of pain Blair was in.
