Floating Castles

The crack in the sky was a sight to behold. So marvelous, yet at the same time emitting an eerie horror. The other side could not be seen, covered by a dark veil that was oozing black liquid, with hands that emerged from the puddle. Edgar stood silently, watching the portal with a smile on his face.

"You guys ready?" Edgar asked.

"YESS!!" Kaien squealed.

"No." Damien said, "I suggest that we refrain from doing anything reckless. We should call for backup."

"Lame." Kaien said.

"It is procedure."

"Kid's right." Edgar said, "You are lame." He put his hand into the portal and pulled his arm back, examining it front and back. He slowly put his hand in again, stepping into the portal, sword in hand.

"YIPEEE!" Kaien squealed as he followed suite. Damien sighed and shook his head. Following Prime Edgar was stressful, but sometimes he took things too far. Closing his book, he entered the portal.

The trio had not seen the tall metal figure that watched them from the shadows.

World of the Daemon

"Unbelievable." Damien said in utter disbelief.

"I know, right?" Edgar said with a smile on his face. "Einstein would do a backflip if he saw this.

The entire space was empty, the surrounding atmosphere was a grayish blue color, with large white islands that floated in it. Some were turned upside down, others were tilted sideways. But all were floating regardless, all slowly revolving around a black box that seemed to move.

"The size of each island is like a continent." Damien said.

"Africa specifically." Edgar said.

"Or Russia!" Kaien said.

"Its not a continent but yeah, you have a point."

The sound of metal clanking on the floor made all three inquisitors turn around. The object was a small ball, marked with purple writings, The ball stopped in place, floating up in the sky and bursting open, releasing a wave before imploding on its self, like a mini black hole. Almost immediately, the crack closed. Edgar and Damien stared at each other in confusion, wondering what had happened.

"Look here!!" Kaien called, waving both his hands a few meters away.

"Don't wonder off!" Damien scolded as he walked towards him. "This is daemon territory."

"There are human bones over here."

Damien frowned, walking towards Kaien. Edgar stared at the spot where the portal had been. This was a human's work. Someone had followed them here to kill them. Not that he cared but that technology was some pretty good stuff. More importantly...

"Um...sir."

Edgar turned and approached him. He stood by Kaien, turning to look at the corpses. He took a step back,

"No way." Edgar said under his breath.

"Sir..." Damien said slowly, "If this is who we think it is then this means..."

Edgar waved his hand at Damien as his attention was turned to the two daemon that hovered above them. The first one had no mouth, with three eyes in the center of its face. It wore a long scarf the reached down below its foot. The second one was more feminine, with spider-like eyes and a spiked tail, with four wings sprouting from its back. Both were evolved, with the menacing aura that tightened the air.

"Quite the greeting you left." Edgar said, "Really makes the blood boil you know."

[I made it myself.] the daemon said, [I'm glad you like it.]

"Then you know what I'm going to do next right."

[I'd be surprised if you didn't.] the daemon said, stepping on the ground. [But before our duel, let us introduce ourselves. I am Pride.]

"Pride?" Edgar began to laugh. He laughed so hard that even the other daemon was surprised.

[What's so funny?] the daemon asked, infuriated, [I've been here since you arrived and you're now noticing me, yet you laugh.]

"I didn't turn because you raised your aura. I turned because of another daemon. Y'know, the one far away, watching us."

[You're mistaken.]

"Am i?" Edgar smiled, "Well, that's just fine. But there's one thing you said that's wrong."

[And what would that be.]

Edgar raised his sword at the daemon. "I am Pride."
