SUICIDE

On their way to the hospital, the driver raised the volume of the radio in order to listen to the evening news.

After some weather reports the radio reporter came up with the latest news of the bankruptcy of the Han business. After a few minutes, there was a long pause on the news before the voice of a man came out. The news told by the reporter not only shook the listeners but also the tough-heated policemen.

"According to the news from our reporters we just came to know that there was an accident on the highway which has taken away the life of President Han. Till now it is said to be an accident the car slid down the gorge leading to on the spot death of President Han." After a long pause, the reporter said, "It is suspected to be a suicide."

The woman on the back seat shook vigorously as a stream of tears flowed down her pale cheek. She felt as if her heart was stung by thousands of bees. The policemen could not help but feel pitiful for the woman who lost everything.

'She will at least get punishment of lifelong prisoner. After all, she killed someone.' One of them was sitting right in front of the woman.

...…..

Jessica was sitting in her cabin when Amy rushed into the room. Amy's face was crimson red as she panted and tried to keep her tears at the bay.

Seeing her expressions Jessica made her sit and handed over a glass of water to her as she slowly petted the back of Amy in order to calm her down.

'I hope all is well. I will ask once she has calmed down.' Jessica thought to herself when she could not help but feel a bit uncomfortable and anxious.

"Jessica…" Amy said in a low voice after she had calmed down.

"Hmm?" Jessica sat down next to Amy as she placed the glass on the coffee table. Amy sighed and gave a tight side-hug to Jessica as she said in a low sorrowful voice, "your dad's dead. he killed himself."

Hearing her Jessica felt a hard pang of pain and sentiments in her heart. She never acknowledged her father but still, he was the person who had taken care of her as a good father in her childhood.

No matter how many unforgivable deeds he did to her and her mother, she still felt pain.

Why....?

She didn't know herself. But the pain was suffocating as tears slid down her eyes followed by a whole stream afterward. That night she cried her bottled-out emotions in front of Amy and the person who watched her silently from behind.

Steve stood quietly as he watched the girl crying her eyes out. After an hour which seemed to be a century, the girl finally calmed down. She still sobbed as her eyes turned deep red. Seeing her Steve felt a pang on his heart.

'She used to be so strong… She suffered a lot… I would surely treasure her…' He thought to himself as he observed Amy get up to fetch a glass of water.

As she walked out Amy's eyes fell on Steve. She gestured for him to come with her. They both went to the small corner of the store. There laid a water jug and some equipment and ingredients for tea and snacks

Picking up a cup Amy filled it with warm water and handed the cup to Steve. Steve understood her gesture and turned around to enter Jessica's cabin.

"Don't hurt her… She is very weak. If you make her cry, I will be sure to break your arms and legs personally." A serious voice came from behind Steve.

He turned around to meet the icy-cold eyes Amy. It gave him goosebumps. He would have never excepted this timid girl to be an ice-cold person. He gave her a nod and escaped from the deadly eyes.

The room was eloped by the warm sunset rays. Jessica was sitting on the edge of the sofa her head bowed as she kept her tears at the bay. Heaving a soft sigh Steve walked in. He handed the cup of water to Jessica who slowly raised her head.

Her eyes glowed in the Sunlight. She looked like an innocent puppy who had been wronged by its owner. This sight melted the diamond heart of the man. He placed the cup on the coffee table and took the girl in his arms.

He didn't like the melancholy in her eyes. From the day he had stopped her from going away and agreeing to her conditions he had promised himself to never let his woman cry or feel sad. deep in his heart, he wanted this girl to be lively and happy.

This feeling was foreign to him, but it gave him the warmth he was cursed to never feel. When he decided to be the CEO of the company and took his company to great heights many types of people approached him for benefits. He believed in nobody.

But this girl had something magical she was able to let this prideful and over-bearing CEO chase after her and even agree to her conditions without hesitation. When she first mentioned the conditions he was somewhat sure that she would ask for money or power. When he heard about her condition he was pretty surprised and wanted to know more about her.

She was a puzzle and he would not only like to solve his puzzle but also be a part of it.

After almost an hour which seemed like a minute to Steve, he glanced at the girl in his arms… Her eyes were closed and she was breathing calmly…

She was already asleep. He gently wiped the teardrop on her face and tenderly kissed her forehead.

'I will surely protect you… No one can come near you even if it is the death itself.' He said to himself as he picked up the girl and walked out of the office. Covering the girl's face with his suit coat.

Waking out of the store, he spotted Amy. Giving her a signal to lock the store he walked out and waited for Amy, he was carefully holding the woman as if she was his greatest treasure. She was a glass doll to him that would easily break if touched roughly. After the store was locked Amy gestured to Steve to leave with Jessica. Understanding her Steve moved through the eyes looking at him and walked out of the mall.

Outside he had his car parked and took out his car keys opening the door. Carefully placing the girl in the passenger seat and securely covering her with a soft blanket he moved to the driver's seat and drove off.

......…

The next morning Jessica woke up in her apartments. She looked around as if she was searching for something. Not finding the thing around she was disappointed and looked down. as she was about to get up her eyes fell on a sticky note on the side table. She picked up the card which had beautiful cursive handwriting on it.

She slowly picked up the note. It read-

'Good morning, wifey… I have some work so I left early… Wash up and we can go to the Han mansion together…' It had a cute heart emoji at the end.

She stared at the heart as her face lit up with a bright smile. It was the time when she had received something caring, especially since she came back. No one ever informed the reason they were going away from her. Her dad, her sister even her mom left her without telling her the reason…

Thinking about old memories Jessica felt her heart growing heavier. She immediately suppressed her sad memories and got up. She drew the curtains and let the light in then she walked into the bathroom.

She did not wish to go back to her past timid self. When she had traveled abroad she fell into depression and it took her years to get well. She still could not forget that night… No one knew about her depression except those two…
