“I AM SORRY SWEETHEART…”

He had a silly smile on his face until he was dragged to the car by Jessica and almost stuffed in it. His assistant quickly went to the lawyer and took the card and the envelope before walking to the car that was behind the one entered by Steve and Jessica.

Jia felt the burning sensation on her cheek and she was half crazy and half sad. She was happy because Steve touched her and she was sad because he said her harsh words. She felt extremely unhappy when she saw Jessica dragging Steve out and had a strong urge to break them apart. But she was somewhere afraid that this time it would not be a simple slap.

Tears formed in her eyes as she saw the smile on Steve's face while they went out. 'Why?… Why? Could you not like me… love me… Am I not good enough for you? Jessica is nothing but a slut. I will surely kill her and rule your heart and money… You only belong to ME.' She thought in her head as she took a few steps back and rushed upstairs.

'BANG' It was the sound of the door being shut from upstairs.

.........….

Unaware of the things going on in the Han mansion Steve and Jessica reached the city hospital in no time. Jessica urged Steve to get a full check-up and he finally gave up. After a full body check for a small scratch, he got his hand even bandaged due to Jessica's endless staring and scolding. He didn't mind instead happily accompanied her all around the hospital visiting all the doctors.

After his wife was happy and satisfied he started with his lectures and took her for all the same tests and to every doctor, he had been to just another doctor that was a gynecologist was added to the list. After seeing that it was all fine and the scratch would not leave a scar and just needed a bandage both of them walked to the specified section.

After the nurse was done with applying medicine and bandaging she walked out leaving behind the couple. Steve walked towards Jessica's sand handed her a cup of lukewarm water as he leaned on the wall and stared at her.

*Knock*Knock*

There was a tap on the door and Steve's assistant entered the room. He bowed respectfully to them before handing Steve the documents. He again bowed and left without taking much time.

Steve was looking at the Grey-themed card with a simple name and phone number when he heard Jessica say, "will you still marry me if I am disfigured?"

Steve was astonished and turned around only to see the girl bowing his head down and playing with a strand of her hair. He placed the card and envelope on the desk and he bent down. Slowly caressing her cheeks he said, "who said that to you?" His tone was very gentle and caring. Jessica looked up at him. Her eyes were glittering with tears, it looked as if she could cry any moment.

Seeing that she was crying Steve could not help but hug her. The guiltiness rose inside him again. He didn't want her to cry or even think that he would leave her because deep in his heart he liked her and wanted to care for her, dote on her at any cost may it be his life.

After a few minutes, he murmured, "I am sorry, sweetheart… I was not able to protect you well… I'm sorry, I'm truly sorry…" And he said sorry endless times as tears dripped from his face.

Hearing Steve saying sorry again and again made her feel sad and she instantly started coaxing him. She was also guilty and said in a low voice, "It's not your fault. See I am fine… and I don't blame you for this I am instead happy that you tried to protect me."

Jessica lightly stroked his back and the room fell in deep silence.

"Really?!" Steve whispered his voice carrying hope.

"Yes, my dear would-be-husband," Jessica said in a playful tone making the atmosphere much lighter.

Steve smiled at Jessica before he extended his hand towards Jessica his intention very clear. Glancing at his bandaged hand Jessica had a deep frown. She would never forgive Jia for harming her husband. She looked up at the smiling face and all of the worries and anxiety seemed to be fading away and a curve formed on her stunning face.

Jessica slowly got up and took Steve's hand intertwining their hands together. She looked at him for the last time and walked out again dragging him behind her.

While walking she kept on blabbering about how hungry she was and a big list about what to have for dinner. It was already dark when they set out for home.

"Today let's not eat out, Okay?" Steve asked as he glanced at the girl beside him. His assistant was driving the car as they both sat in the backseats.

"But I don't know how to cook very well. How about we order something?" Jessica voiced out her opinions as she was a picky eater and would rarely like foods from not her choice. She was pretty good at cooking but today she was in no mood to cook.

"NO!" Steve said with an angry expression which made Jessica move back subconsciously. He seemed angry but in another second he said with a soft tone, "It's not good for your health, sweetheart. You will grow fat by consuming…"

He was stopped when Jessica jumped on him on listening to him call her fat.

"Who do you think is fat? You must be fat, I weigh only forty-five." She eyed him like a fierce tigress who was staring at its prey. Her eyes were as sharp as an eagle.

Steve stared into her eyes and felt amusing to see this side of hers. Right now she looked like a perfect serial killer. He let out a soft chuckle and said, "No sweetheart. You are not fat. I just wanted to cook you some home meals. I think you will love them."

Hearing him her eyes lit up as if she was a teenager whose crush had just accepted her proposal. Her beautiful eyes sparkled as if they contained a million stars in them.

"Really?! Can you cook for me?"

Seeing her look softened the heart of Steve as he smiled at her, "of course sweetie. If you like it I can cook for you every day." This further enlightened Jessica's mood as it had been a century ago before she ate something cooked for her.

The last time someone cooked for her was before her mother died. She had been picky about food from the start and would hardly eat anything except the food cooked by her mother. Thinking of her mother a flash of sadness filled her eyes and she lowered her head.

Sensing that something was wrong Steve looked up at Jessica. He gently stroked his head and said, "from now onward I will always cook for you… and it's a promise."

Hearing him she raised her head and saw his gentle look. Her heart filled with warmth and she smiled and nodded her head positively. She was grateful that this man had entered her life.

Jessica's apartments were much closer to the hospital so they decided to go there and Steve would cook for both.

A few minutes passed and the car came to a stop. Steve put away his documents and looked at Jessica. The words he was about to say were left unspoken as he glanced at the beautiful woman who had already fallen asleep leaning on her seat. She looked like a cute little rabbit curled up on the seat.
