Your goal

"Erina?" Kanon asked. The pink-haired girl put a hand to her back, with a concerned look on her face.

Surprised to see her appear at her back Erina jumped, to get behind Sano.

"I-I'm fine, get ready! Sano said we're about to start!" Erina said while making sure Sano was between her and Kanon. Sano rolled his eyes and motioned them to follow him.

Kanon put away the damaged hammer, and Erina her spear.

Before them were rows of metal cubes going from smallest to biggest. The smallest being the size of a box and the biggest one was the size of a storage crate.

"Pick them up one by one, the point is to find one you could lift two of over your head." Sano explained.

"Got it!" Kanon said, ever excited to prove herself.

Erina looked at the first row of cubes, and could only scoff. Had she not promised to follow directions she would've skipped to the 7th block.

Kanon and Erina lifted the first shoebox-sized block easily. The 2nd being only slightly larger was nothing much. The 3rd was a tad significantly larger, but this did not trouble the girls. Neither did the 4th or 5th by much, being the size of Erina.

The 6th block, however, required a little oomph. This one was roughly the size of a refrigerator in height.

Kanon bent her knees as she grasped the cube. She lifted it off the ground, noting this one would require more balance control. Slowly she propped the metal block along her shoulders and managed to lift it up over her head.

Satisfied with this Kanon slowly returned it to the ground, with a loud thud. She couldn't help but let out a loud breath.

God-eaters had enhanced strength and durability, but even oracle cells had their limits.

"Do you think you could lift two of those?" Sano asked.

Kanon felt the twinge in her muscles and felt her body tell her to go no heavier.

"Mmmmm, I don't think so." Kanon said with a frown.

"(Why does she always feel like she's doing something wrong?)" Sano thought. Her results with the melee weapons were splendid. Dangerous and untrained, but splendid.

"My turn, let me try!" Erina took Sano away from his thoughts as she stood before the 6th block. She cracked her knuckles and stretched, waiting for Kanon to give her room.

The older god-eater stood closer to the inmate and silently cheered for Erina.

When she wrung out her fingers, she attempted to grasp the block like Kanon and found that it was really heavy as compared to the other four. But she would not quit and stood cradling the mass of metal in her arms.

Erina attempted to move the cube further pressing up against her torso, but she could not get it above her shoulders.

"Erina." Sano called.

If she could she would turn to him.

"That's enough drop it." he commanded, with a hint of hostility.

Grudgingly Erina did as she was told. She let down the block and fell back on her butt.

"Take a breath Erina, I had to really use my legs for that one. Sano show how much you can lift, Let's get pumped!" Kanon said suddenly feeling motivated.

Sano prayed that she would never know just how much he was trying to suppress his giggles.

"(It couldn't hurt I guess. At least she's not kicking herself anymore.) Sure." Sano said, putting down his god-arc.

Sano walked past the 6th metal block, making Kanon more curious, he also didn't stop at the 7th or 8th. Kanon had to do a double-take as he proceeded past the 9th.

Erina couldn't take this seriously, seeing Sano stop at the 10th storage crate-sized block.

"There's no way." Erina said barely batting an eye.

Sano got into position and started lifting the cube.

Slowly the crate had elevated off the ground, making the girl's jaws drop.

Their screams echoed in the training room as Sano faced them with the block over his head. Holding it up with one hand, once he was balanced.

Kanon and Erina stammered constantly unable to comprehend just what they were seeing.

"This is your goal, and for the record, the no-questions rule stands." Sano stated as he used both hands to return the cube to the floor. The thud made a big enough impact to shake Kanon and Erina.

Up above the engineers and researchers were having a fit coming to terms with what they had just witnessed. Among them was Licca, who couldn't have had better timing.

"A-Are we recording!?" Licca screamed to the nearest tech at the console.

"Y-Yes!" they stammered, as they were ready to faint.

"It's amazing! Unreal! H-How much do those weigh!? " Licca stuttered.

Back down, Sano continued to direct the pair.

"Both of you have an idea of what you can handle?" he asked.

Kanon nodded, too dumbfounded to form words. Erina was still on the floor, unable to give a response.

"The 4th block for Kane. And Erina you're taking the 2nd one, for now, no complaints." Sano ordered as he moved the metal blocks out of the line.

Erina would voice how unsatisfied she was with that decision but found nothing but a lump in her throat. After moving the smaller cubes, Sano went to the largest one and to everyone's amazement began pushing it, to align with the others.

"Sano." Kanon uttered.

"Yes, I could do two of these if I had too." Sano said, dusting off his hands.

"You've...gotta show me how you did that." Erina managed to say.

"Get up and we'll start." Sano said, as Erina almost lost her balance doing so.

"Watch what I do, we're doing this at least 3 times back and forth the whole room. I don't care how long it takes you as long as you get it done." Sano said, getting behind the block of metal.

"Yes sir!" Kanon and Erina said.

I can't believe you've got people calling you sir every other minute. It's baffling.

Sano grunted as he knelt down. The cube was lifted and rolled like a die forward with a loud thud. Sano knelt down and did it once more.

"Get the picture?" Sano asked, as he did it again and continued onward in a straight line.

Kanon and Erina felt uneasy as they watched him roll the block all the way down.

"What's the hold-up!?" Sano shouted. Erina and Kanon came out of their stupor and immediately began rolling their own blocks. Albeit awkwardly,

Try as they might, Sano's pace was leaps and bounds ahead of them, even with his block being heavier. Erina having the lightest was in 2nd, while Kanon was last.

At least for the first half. Once Kanon and Erina had finished their first set, Erina began drifting back. Seeing Kanon slowly catch up, she tried harder. Moving the metal cube faster and using more energy. Regardless Kanon keeping her same pace slowly passed her.

The harder she tried the more distant Kanon became, she found herself sweating more, panting to the point she needed almost a full second to prepare before each roll.

Then a second and a half.

Before she knew it, Sano had already come and gone to a third set, while Kanon finished the first half of her second.

Erina grew more frustrated and ended up falling even farther behind.

She almost didn't notice Sano dusting his hands off. To her and Kanon's astonishment, he was done. Barely fatigued if he was at all.

Erina's lip quivered as Kanon finished ahead of her, and wiped the sweat off her brow. Erina bit her lip, scowling at her block, As compared to Sano's it was flimsy. To Kanon's it half its size at best.

"(So, why!?)" Erina thought. She fell to her knees and pressed her head against the cube.

"I said, I didn't care how long you took." Sano said, suddenly appearing behind her.

Erina shook herself upright, keeping the frustrating tears from flowing.

"You're using too much energy, quit trying to show off." Sano commanded as he returned to Kanons side.

"(Quit being a crybaby and keep going.)" Erina thought to herself, as she resumed to roll the block, more determined than ever.

"Thank you." Kanon said.

"Don't thank me yet, we're moving on, watch me." Sano commanded as he lifted the metal block over his head. Slowly he bent his knees and rose back up, keeping the cube balanced. Sano squatted again, repeating the movement.

"Wow..." Kanon whispered, watching him masterfully squat while holding the weight over his head.

"Try doing about 20, if you know you can't make it don't try, Do not stress yourself." Sano said, continuing with his squats.

"20!? Uh-ok?" Kanon stammered.

She grasped her block and started to imitate Sano.

Erina was finishing her set more efficiently and looked less apprehensive. Looking to catch up, she didn't ask questions and started to imitate the duo.

"20." Sano said, not looking at Erina.

"Yes, sir." Erina said.

They continued in relative silence as Sano thought over the process.

"(150 added across 4 so she can handle 1,200lbs.)" Sano thought glimpsing at Kanon. Then he shifted his gaze to Erina.

"(150 across 2 or 3, so if she stops being reckless, 600 or 900, Maybe.)" Sano thought as he finished another squat.

These figures of course factored if the results were consistent. Sano eyed Kanon once again, and couldn't help but sigh in aggravation.

He had done 30 heavy squats in total, so he put down his oversized block and moved made his way to Kanon.

As she finished another squat, Sano took the smaller block in his hands and brought Kanon close to him.

Before Kanon knew it her legs were limp, and the only thing keeping her up was Sano.

She stared at him in confusion, not knowing why she was like this.

"You lost count didn't you?" Sano said.

Kanon paused, but could only respond with a nervous laugh, with a desperate smile.

"I'm sorry." she said.

Sano rolled his eyes, but felt a bit impressed. "(How many did she do?") he thought.

"Are you okay Kanon?" Erina said, doing her last two squats and leaving the cube behind.

"Break time." Sano said as he tossed away Kanon's cube.

As he threw Kanon over his shoulder he looked up at the observation deck.

"Are you sure I can just leave these here?" Sano yelled, nodding to the metal blocks in the room.

LIcca looked at the surrounding employees and they all nodded.

"Yeah, it's fine, but don't forget to come over to maintenance as you promised." Licca's voiced echoed from the speaker.

"(I don't recall promising, but I have to go there anyway.)" Sano thought as he left with Erina in tow. Kanon whined, with a guilty look on her face.
