It lasted?

It was good while it lasted.

All Sano could do was slowly push Erina towards Kanon. Erina hardly noticed as she gawked back and forth between Ciel and her gun.

Kanon could feel her heart race as she watched the Inmate and Ciel stared each other down.

Hibari who had handled countless high-stress situations in her job as an operator didn't budge.

But could not utter one word in the presence of Ciels Glock.

The boy who had caused all this was scared stiff. But not at Sano's shield, but how suddenly tense the atmosphere became when Ciel arrived to his aid.

Ciel adjusted her aim, causing the girls to flinch. However, before she could give an order, a hand pressed the gun down to the floor startling Ciel.

I don't think that will be necessary, don't you?

Sano focused on the taller figure, staring down at Ciel. This boy looked pretty young, he had blonde hair, and his grey eyes seemed cold on the surface.

Sano's first thought was he was dressed rather fancy in a white collared shirt and a black jacket that signified a high status with black pants to match. Almost like some sort of dignitary.

"Captain…" Ciel muttered, reluctantly letting him press her gun downward.

"I think we can talk this out? Can't we?" The boy said, pointing his gaze towards the boy below.

He dressed rather oddly. An orange-white coat, a long-sleeved shirt with black and white stripes, and jeans. On his head was a beanie decorated in colorful ornaments.

He notes how the older male looked at him sternly and sat himself up quickly.

"A-A-r-right! It was all a misunderstanding! Haha!" The boy in a beanie laughed nervously.

All the girls did not smile. Erina was the most displeased.

"Honestly, Romeo, you see what trouble you cause! You should learn a little self-restraint! Screaming like that in the hall, and right in Mr.Sano's ear! Scared us all half to death, apologize!" Erina ranted on and on verbally attacking Romeo, making him shrink away with every word.

Sano was taken aback by how fiercely Erina was defending him.

"What are you deaf!? Apologize!" Erina pointed her finger in Romeo's face sternly.

The constant stress Erina put him under, made him drop to his knees towards Sano.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Romeo screamed.

At this point, Ciel didn't know how to react to the sudden change in tension.

Hey you.

Ciel and the one she called Captain looked to Sano. He stared directly at the older blonde and ignored Romeo entirely.

"Me?" the Captain asked.

"Have I punched you in the face before?" Sano asked bluntly.

Leaving everyone who heard taken aback.

As the young captain shook himself out of his stupor, he forced a smile in response to the inmate.

"I'd rather hope that's not the case. I don't think we've met. I'm Blood Special Forces Captain Julius Visconti." he stated firmly.

"My bad, never mind then." Sano said nothing more and turned away from Julius, put his attention back on Ciel.

Her gun had been lowered at this point but was still unholstered. Julius noticed the glance at Ciel's gun and understood.

"Ciel, it would seem the "danger" has passed. I don't think your weapons are required." Julius suggested, removing his hand off the glock. Ciel glanced at the inmate in contempt.

For Ciel, she took this as an order and reluctantly did as he requested.

Much to Hibari's relief. She could finally breathe again, she thought. Only realized for the past 2 minutes she held her breath.

Erina took notice of her reaction, suddenly her own muscles unknot. Kanon at the moment was still processing what was going on due to being the farthest away.

Is everything okay down there? A girl's voice called from above their heads.

Nana and another girl in a grey dress peaked down from the railing.

"It's fine now, just a minor disturbance," Julius assured.

"Was it Romeo's fault?" Nana said.

"How could you possibly know that!?" Romeo said, quickly getting off his knees.

"So it was your fault." the girl in the grey dress, stated making Nana snicker.

Romeo suddenly lost his voice and fell flat on his butt.

"By way the Romeo what were you screaming at?" Julius asked.

"Good question..." Romeo paled as thought about the view he got of Sano's shield.

"One look at your shield and he went screaming, can you believe that?" Erina whispered to Sano, with a smirk. Sano didn't have the heart to remind her that she screamed herself at the sight of it.

He only smirked back and patted her head, much to her pleasure.

"By the way do you know Julius?" Erina asked.

"No, but I know his type." Sano said.

"His type?" Erina asked.

"HQ-God-Eaters." Sano said. The inmate tightened his grip on his god-arc and took a quick glance at Julius as if hoping he'd notice.

"What's wrong with HQ God-Eaters?" Erina asked with a frown.

Sano looked back at Erina, The inmate realized now more than ever he forgot himself. He wasn't in prison, he wasn't surrounded by his fellow inmates and guards that would kick him down for even flinching. This child hadn't been a god-eater for a year from what he could tell.

She's much too young to know anything about the average God-Eater. Let alone HQ God-Eaters. Or Felon God-Eaters...

"(Why the hell did someone as young as her have to be a volunteer?)" Sano patted Erina's head with a frown on his face. This left Erina confused as he never answered her question.

"Let's just stow it for today. I want you ready for tomorrow. You too Kane." Sano said, as headed up the opposite stairs. Kanon had been silent throughout that whole escapade, It was only at the sound of the inmate's voice did she snap out of her trance, completely.

"Uh, sure." Kanon said, meekly. She let her eyes meet the floor as she frowned in dismay. The inmate did not turn back, and with Hibari still recovering herself, the first person to notice was Erina.

"Kanon what's wrong?" she asked, inching closer to the older god-eater. Kanon's lip trembled in response to the question.

Meanwhile, as Sano attempted to vacate the area, Nana hurried to intercept, nearly pushing off the girl with the grey dress.

Before he could get all the way up the steps Nana impeded his path with a smile.

"How was the oden sandwich? Did you like it!?" Nana asked, hopping with every word.

Sano immediately recalled the sandwich, the amalgam of lettuce, cheese, tomato, and meatballs he once ate.

"It was good." he said with a smirk and proceeded past Nana. Nana snickered and walked after him.

"That's great! I carry loads! Well, when Ciels not drilling us I do. I'll have some on the mission. Where are you going?" Nana asked as Sano pressed on the elevator button.

"Roof. I need air." he answered without looking at her.

"Thought you weren't allowed outside?" a voice called out from behind, making Nano and Sano turn.

A lanky-looking fellow sat on the couch, holding his steaming cup of tea to his nose. From Sano's point of view, his face was hidden by the man's purple hat.

Sano couldn't help but smirk and felt the need to give a sarcastic response.

"Outside the building to be specific." he said.

"Still outside." the purple-clad man, lifted his gaze straight to Sano revealing his icy-blue eyes. His voice wasn't immediately threatening, but it was firm.

The room went silent as their eyes met. The wolf-like whitish-yellow eyes of the inmate and the ice-blue leer of the strangers'.

The elevator was taking its sweet time as if to test the situation further. The inmate couldn't help but feel a temptation to give the man a reason to get physical. However, Nana started to chatter interrupting his thought.

"Oh have you met Gil? Say hi, Gil!" Nana said cheerfully.

"Gilbert Mclane. My friends call me Gil." he said, keeping a sharp gaze on the inmate.

"Don't worry, I won't." Sano said, hiding his smirk. Gilbert held back an urge to smirk himself.

The elevator finally came.
