Superman and Batman

Running to the One Earth technician, I kick him in the knee and slap the gun out of his hand. Grabbing and putting him into a headlock, I struggle to knock him out.

"Go to sleep," I whisper, slapping his hands away from my face. "Go to sleep. Go to sleep."

Finally falling asleep, I let his body drop and went over to the archive's computer. Hooking it up to my phone, I start downloading as much as I can.

"60 percent," the screen says. "70 percent. 80 percent. Why didn't I just lie to Kara? Man, you stupid idiot! You never should have told you. I'm betting right now, she's feeling very uncomfortable around me. Ha, if I were her, I burst through a window and never look back."

Slamming my fist into the computer, I look up to see the bar reach a 100 percent. Unhooking my phone, I turn toward the door. About to reach it, I stop when the screen changes, switching from the One Earth government symbol to what looks like surveillance from outside the Watchtower. First seeing the planet Earth, I then notice what look like two little dots flying from her.

"Oh shoot," I say, walking out the door. As soon as I'm out, I grab Kara by her hand. Pulling her along for only a second, she pulls away and steps back.

"Hey," she starts, "What's the big idea? Why are you dragging me all of a sudden? What did you see in there? Did you get what we need?"

"Yeah," I reply, "Oh yeah, I got what we need. Really, really, incredible useful information. Now, as much as I'd like to tell you about it right now, I can't."

"Why not," Kara asks.

"Because we're kind of on a strict time limit. That and also because Superman himself is coming here."

"What! Kal-El is coming here? How do you know!"

"Surveillance feed inside," I reply, looking toward the windows. Hoping to see them, I realize the windows are pointed the wrong ways, away from Earth. "They show two incomings.

"Two," Kara repeats.

"I have a strong hunch as to who number 2 may be, but I really hope I'm wrong. I doubt it but I'm crossing my fingers here."

Bringing up both my hands, I show Kara my cross fingers.

"Kara," I say, "I need you to find Blue Beetle and Firestorm and get out of here. Go back to the batmobile and wait there."

"Wait there!"

"Yes! Wait there for me! I'm heading to the last room to get what we need and to plant the charge! Once done, I meet the three, four, of you there and then we'll get the living heck out of here! Besides, after what I said earlier, it would probably be best if I give you some space."

Tossing a smoke bomb to the ground before Kara could protest, the hallway filling with grey smoke, I then back away.

"I would say I'm sorry Kara," I thought to myself, running down the hallway as fast as I could, "But I think that would somehow make things worse. I don't know how, but I imagine something bad would happen. Unfortunate events are always half a step behind me."

Checking for any guards or betas, I pull out my phone and dial in a number.

"Hey doc," I say, "You there?"

"Yes," the doc answers, "I'm here. Where are you?"

"I'll give you three hints," I whisper, hearing some guards. Hanging back and flattening myself against the wall, I watch as they walk right past me. "I'm somewhere big, in space, and is keeping a 'watch' out for trouble."

"Watchtower," the idiot doc yells, drawing the attention of the guards. Biting my tongue, I move out from cover and toss at them a kunai. The kunai denotes seconds later, it unleashes a cloud of green, knock-out gas, the guards choking and falling to the ground. "You're in the Watchtower! Alone!"

"No, I'm not alone you moron," I say, running over the guards. "I brought along some help; Supergirl, Firestorm, and Blue Beetle. Listen, after I'm done here, I'm sending them, along with some others your way. Remember to give them gas masks okay."

"Of course. I'll go and grab the extras."

Hanging up and shoving the phone back into my pocket, I reach the final room.

"Where was that last room," I ask myself, trying to remember the map of the Watchtower the man showed us. Flying down the hallway, I arrive at the storage room. Entering it, I am glad to see both Blue Beetle and Firestorm, the two of them guarding the door.

"Supergirl," they both say, laying down their arms.

"Oh man," Firestorm says, the fires disappearing from his hands. "Are we happy to see you? Wait, the guy, where is he? He isn't with you?"

"He went to the last room by himself," I reply.

"By himself," Blue Beetles repeats, "Que! Why? Do you think he will be okay?"

"I don't know," I say, "For now though, I think we'll need to stand our ground."

"Stand our ground," Firestorm repeats. "From who?"

"From Kal-El."

"Kal-El," Firestorm and Blue Beetle says before realizing who I'm talking about. "Wait, do you mean Superman? He's coming here!"

"Yes. The man told me he saw Superman and someone else on a surveillance feed coming here. We need to stay here and stand our ground until the man returns."

"Oh fuck that," Firestorm scream, cutting the air with his hands. "No! No! No! There's no way we can take down Superman! We're dead! We are fucking dead!"

"Oye," Blue Beetle interrupts, slapping Firestorm's arm. "Cálmese! We're not dead. We do stand a chance. We have Supergirl with us and even if we didn't, you can still use the firestorm matrix to make kryptonite."

"No offense or anything Jaime," Firestorm says, "But I think if Supergirl could have defeated Superman, then she would have done it by now. And as for the firestorm matrix, we tried that before! With Supergirl! She was able to resist it! No Jaime! This is it! The four of us are dead!"

Placing his hands on his head, he then looks up at the batmobile. Running over to it, he jumps into the driver's seat and begins pushing all the buttons.

"Maybe one of these can help get us out of here," he says, pushing buttons after buttons. "Come on! Come on! Do something! No Professor! No, I don't know what I'm doing but I just have to be doing something! Anything! We can't face Superman! He's too strong! Even if we went nuclear, I doubt we could hurt him! At most, we would just give him a sunburn!"

Going back to pushing buttons and hoping for the best, laser beams hitting the batmobile stops him. Hitting the batmobile in its engine, it starts glowing a dark-red.

"Watch out," I say, grabbing Blue Beetle and pushing him behind. The batmobile explodes, I cross my arms and stand my ground, protecting Blue Beetle from the blast. Blowing away the smoke, I look to see both Jason and Professor Stein on the ground. If it wasn't for their occasional twitching and moaning, I would think they are dead.

About to run over to them, a familiar voice stops me.

"Kara," Kal-El says, walking into the storage room, his eyes bright-red. "I couldn't believe it when Black Adam told you somehow escaped Stryker's Island."

"Kal-El," I say, my own eyes turning bright-red.

"Kara please," Kal-El says, backing away, the red fading from his eyes. "I don't want to fight you."

"But you're okay with almost killing two people," I scream back. Pointing at Jason and the professor, the two of them surrounded by fires and scape metals, I look back at Kal-El. "For three months, three months, I watched you rule this world, watched you take it over, watched you harm countless innocent people! I had to stop!"

Without thinking, I jump into the air and charge toward Kal-El. Preparing to charge right into him, something hits me and knocks me to the ground.

"Supergirl," Blue Beetle yells, running to my side. Helping me up, we then look up as Batman, covered all over in glowing purple wires, enter the room and walk to Kal-El's side.

Because this week had been rough on me, I wrote a bit more than normal. Enjoy my misery, and please do leave a review. Thank you very much.
